Hrmph! "I do hope @funfungiguy is doing well, though it seems they keep pretty busy with wrestling and huckleberry-harvesting."

Those huckleberries can be a tough pin.

We've been having a horrible berry-season up here in the PNW. Late summer plus weird rain patterns means that very few flowered, and so very few berries are actually coming to fruit-ition. I should be gorging on huckleberries, salmonberries, and wild strawberries by now, but there's practically nothing out there.

Count your blessings, here in the sprawl we only see berries in fancy drinks.

Sorry for the delay, I've had a bunch on my plate and not in cell service a lot of the time.

We did have a big harvest on the berries here in Montana. Our secret spot was probably the most bountiful we've ever seen. It was an adventure! Had a black bear visit, and try and let himself into the kids' tent in the middle of the night and my dog Hank cut loose from the tent when our friends' son stepped out to investigate, and the dog drove it off into the woods. Thirty minutes later the dog still hadn't come back and the kids started getting really worried something happened, and fifteen minutes later they heard splashing in a nearby creek and found Hank having himself a nice 2am spa day for himself.

Wrestling banquet for the season is tonight and then we're on a month long break. I should have something updated tonight, or tomorrow morn at the latest and we should be on schedule again.

I think I can speak for us all when we say we're glad to still have you around! This game has been incredible! And I, for one, am glad to hear about the berries and the general safety from the bear.

This game is my favorite PbP ever. Glad all is well.

I'm starting a 2e game with some friends (the system I grew up with), and this game is giving some serious inspiration.

Now I need to learn how to divide into uneven groups for experience, giving hirelings a half share...

Yeah even though Basic was the first system I played it was 2e that made me fall in love with the game. As soon as I got the Heroes of the Lance 2e box set... My world was changed forever.

I'm running a series of modules (mostly from Dungeon, which is free online now), starting with Keep on the Borderlands. Turns out it's an evil wizard behind most of the problems, trying to destabilize the country.

And the "Elminster" if my world is absolutely an older and more crotchety Eltrezar.

I recently tried to re-run KotB for a group of long time player friends irl and we fell off about half way through... Just found it too grindy. I added as much additional story line and character/monster interaction as I could and it still just felt meh.

I have been very much wanting to run Expedition to the Barrier Peaks again, and some of the old arcs are still pretty interesting to me (Slavers, Giants, Spider Queen)

I fully expect it to be grindy, and I suspect we'll abandon the keep before too long. But it's a good way to teach mechanics and get some baseline equipment. They're at the Mound of the Lizard Men right now, and about to see their first combat.

I do wonder if we will ever make it to the Temple. All it takes is for those gnolls to have a lucky day and our dreams are over! :D
Aug 20, 2022 2:09 am
Well the temple itself is in another module. This is T1 Village of Hommlet, a well loved and fantastic classic.

The lizard man mound is my fav part of the module! The drama of finding the women and children inside after the fight with all the men outside...

My family has departed and I should be back to full speed now! After a day of recuperation, maybe! :D

I wound up with plumbing issues in the basement these last couple of days requiring me to replace the line from the kitchen drain to the main line in the basement, throwing me way off track.

I made a quick post in the main thread just to get clarification on a couple of things and then I will make a hard push to get back on track, even if I have to set some work aside at lunch and post...

Should I be nervous? :D

OOC:
You absolutely should be. If it takes several days to explain just how bad the ambush is...
