Episode 1: Escape from Monster Island

Panghol kicks up a massive cloud of sediment as he burrows into the regolith of the sea floor. The two torpedoes streak passed him, but being smart torpedoes, they begin making a wide turn in order to back track and reacquire their target.
OOC:
@Panghol, being self-guided weapons, the torpedoes will take one more pass at you next round. If they can’t find you or hit you next round, they automatically detonate.
Taclydus continues to claw at the deck of the Dauntless with massive talons. Though he is tearing away chunks of the ship’s bow, the nighttime darkness and moving target makes it difficult to remove the launchers. Since the flying kaiju is too close for the ship to use its explosive ordnance, the Dauntless instead rotates the naval gun toward Taclydus and fires.

Meanwhile, the weapon platform forgoes attempting a lock and instead direct-fires its torpedoes at Omukade.
OOC:
@Omukade, please give me an Evade roll (Agility -2) when you get a chance.

Yikes! I Aced on both rolls...

Rolls

Shooting roll at Taclydus - (1d10, RA)

(108) = 18

Shooting roll - direct-Fire torpedoes at Omukade - (1d10, RA)

(102) = 12

Naval gun damage roll, AP 30, against Taclydus - (5d10)

(15588) = 27

Bonus 1d6 damage for Raise - (1d6)

(3) = 3

Oct 9, 2020 2:02 pm
OOC:
@Taclydus, you get blasted almost point blank by a 130mm naval cannon.

Your Toughness is 60 (34). The naval gun has an AP of 30 (so it ignores 30 points of Armor), leaving Toughness 30 (4).

The gun did exactly 30 damage, which is just barely enough to inflict the Shaken condition on Taclydus. This means that he cannot act other than to move or take free actions. At the start of Taclydus’ next turn, he may make a Spirit roll to recover from the Shaken condition. The roll is a free action, so if he succeeds then he can still act as normal that round.

Alternately, you can also just spend a Benny to automatically lift the condition.

The megapede attempts to swim out of the way.

Rolls

Agility-2 - (1d12-2, 1d6-2, RA)

1d12-2 : (4) - 2 = 2

1d6-2 : (1) - 2 = -1

Oct 9, 2020 3:18 pm
Two torpedoes launch from the pylons of the platform and strike the giant megapede. An explosion resounds through the water, followed a split-second later by a second one. The torpedoes detonate closer to the platform than is normally safe, and the entire structure shudders from the shockwaves.
OOC:
Omukade has Toughness 61(36). Each torpedo has an AP of 22, leaving Toughness 39 (14). The torpedoes inflicted 40 and 41 damage, which is just enough to cause the Shaken condition and one Wound.

So Omukade is Shaken and suffering one Wound level.

Rolls

Direct-fire Torpedo, AP 22 - (8d10, RA)

(42328939) = 40

Direct-fire torpedo, AP 22 - (8d10, RA)

(42883943) = 41

OOC:
That concludes Round 3. Players may draw cards for Round 4 initiative.

At the moment, Omukade and Panghol are both within range of the weapons platform to attack it directly. Panghol is buried in the silt of the sea floor. One more round of movement would bring you to the Dauntless, if you so choose. Straj is currently next to the Dauntless, having moved to it last round. And Taclydus is hovering above the front of the warship.

OOC:
Okay, the humans have initiative...
The torpedoes travel back to Panghol's last location before he disappeared beneath the sediment, leaving silt-clouded water in his place. With no target left to acquire, the torpedoes both detonate automatically over the sea floor.
OOC:
@Panghol, please give me an Agility roll at +4.
Meanwhile, Omukade is too close for the weapons platform to safely fire any more torpedoes. The weapon systems on top of the platform have no unobstructed view of the megapede and cannot fire at her. The structure is at Omukade's mercy should she choose to attack it.

Taclydus is also too close for the Dauntless to fire any of its missiles, so it again resorts to firing its naval gun at the flying kaiju. The ship begins to turn, trying to expose its broadside to the two kaiju near the weapons platform so it can unleash a volley of cannon and missile fire.
OOC:
Okay... yep, that's a critical failure on the Dauntless' part.
Perhaps a dozen miles away, the crack of naval artillery can be heard in the distance, and one can see small flashes of light in the nighttime darkness as missiles strike their targets. Other ships in the blockade seem to have engaged inhabitants of the Sanctuary.

Rolls

Shooting roll for naval gun at Taclydus - (1d10, RA)

(1) = 1

Critical failure check - (1d6, RA)

(1) = 1

Oct 10, 2020 3:47 am
The 130mm naval gun, instead of firing, suddenly explodes. Perhaps a shell was faulty, or the barrel was so hot that the ordnance cooked off and detonated. Whatever the case, the large cannon blows apart in a ball of fire. Pieces of smoking metal rain onto the lower decks of the ship. The upper deck, where the gun was mounted, is currently on fire and thick black smoke is billowing up into the sky, obscuring the humans' view from the bridge. Panicked shouting can be heard as human crewmembers respond to contain the blaze.
OOC:
Everyone please give me a Notice check at -2. No penalties if you have some form of nightvision.

The humans have all acted for the round. Kaiju may commence with their actions.
Oct 10, 2020 10:14 am
Panghol feels the blast of the torpedoes shaking the ground al around him and deviates abruptly from his course to try avoid the explosion impact.

Rolls

Wild die +4 - (1d6, RA)

(2) = 2

Agility +4 - (1d10, RA)

(101) = 11

Oct 10, 2020 10:27 am
As the explosions aftershock fades, the creature digs his way out of his sandy tunnel and sees the legs of the platform ahead, now closer. It looks to him like an armored Kaiju in a defiant stance, barring his way to freedom.

In a haze of mounting fury he arches his colossal back and descends violently focusing a blast of telluric energy at the platform ahead of him.
OOC:
Ranged Attack- 12/24/48 - 4d10 damage - RoF 1 - AP 24 - Medium Blast Template fires an invisible energy blast at the ground under target causing a localised earthquake [use Shooting]
OOC:
oops used Fighting by mistake, but no big deal as Shooting is also at 1d10, both would miss.
Didn't roll Notice as still underwater

Yes, you definitely can.

For those who make a Notice roll and succeed, you are aware that there are warships to the left and right of your position. These other ships in the blockade have broken formation and are cruising toward you at maximum speed.

This isn’t unexpected. You’ve all seen how the humans respond to jail breaks. Kaiju that aren’t deterred by the weapons platforms and their painful MASER attacks are beset by the ships of the blockade. They converge on the fleeing monster in order to corral it back to the island (or to kill it, in the most extreme cases). The Dauntless’ reinforcements approach in the darkness. Silhouetted against the moonlight, they appear as giant floating bulks that bring bright lights and noise with them.

For those of you with some form of night vision, you are able to discern more details. One of the approaching vessels, the one coming from the south, looks to be roughly the same size as the Dauntless. The ship coming from the north, however, is notably much larger. It’s a massive seacraft, in fact. It’s perhaps twice the length of the warship that you are currently battling. The behemoth is heavily-armed and flat-topped, carrying a fleet of small flying vehicles that it uses to pester and annoy kaiju.

OOC:
Since my shaken status is going to affect my choices. I am going to do all the rolls then post my turn
Taclydus screeches with excitement as the naval gun explodes.
OOC:
edit: I forgot to hit the Ace's does that do anything for recovering from Shaken? also didn't hit the -2 on the notice so didn't succeed there

edit2: I have added the explosions just in case

OOC:
Apologies for the delay.
With the metal dish torn from its foundation, Straj unfurls his tentacles from the platform and submerges again with a loud splash, which is nevertheless lost in the sound of weapon fire and kaiju roaring. The squid doesn't waste any time as he launches himself towards the warship, his concern growing exponentially at the sight of Panghol, Omukade and Taclydus all approaching it. The cephalopod kaiju can see fire reflecting in the waves caused by all the movement, and from what he gathered about humans, fire is rarely a good thing for them. The screeching, still audible though muffled by the water, and the sounds of torpedoes going off only urge Straj to move even faster.

Straj swims past Omukade, briefly peering at her with curiosity - it is rare for him to see usually land-bound kaiju swim, and it is fascinating, - and dives under the ship, positioning himself directly below it. His tentacles shoot upwards, raising around either side of the warship, a fountain of salt water raining down on the deck from them. The tentacles pause for five second, giving humans time to get out of the way, before slowly reaching down to wrap around the Dauntless. Like an illustration from a fantasy book about sailors, Straj entangles his limbs with it, making sure to get a good grip on the vessel, before using his strength to pull the ship away from Omukade.
OOC:
Kraken style! I hope I did the rolls correctly. (This Notice roll doesn't give multi-penalties, right?)

Grappling and, if successful, pulling the ship away from my buddies to let them pass more easily; in theory, at least. The mention of swimming to the ship is just for flavor, I moved last turn, so I should be able to get some distance now...
Edit: ...unless this Strength roll is not enough. XD

Taclydus screeches as Straj pulls the ship he is flying over. Taclydus latches onto the missle mounts with his talons and attempts to rip them off in the opposite direction Straj is pulling.

If I need some additional check to actually rip them off let me know this is just for Grappling on

OOC:
@Taclydus, you recovered from being Shaken and successfully grab the missile launcher. Roll your Strength for damage.

@Panghol, ugh, sorry the dice roller doesn’t seem to be in your favor. For whatever reason, the telluric beam doesn’t manifest at that particular moment.

@Straj, the Dauntless resists you with its engines. The humans likely don’t understand what you’re trying to do.

Rolls

Opposed Strength roll against Straj - (1d12+15, RA)
