My good man. I looking to purchase easily carried goods to hold the value of my coins or a place to store them.

Coulson is sitting comfortably by the warm fire, sated by the fine meal and ale, and feels his body aching and bruised from the battle. He closes his eyes, just for a second, but his bearded chin finds its way down to his chest. Still in his armour, the dwarf begins to snore loudly, warhammer and shield propped up to his side, flecks of gore still on his breast plate and matted into his hair

Selvam
"Oh excellent, excellent" Nira Melubb says. "If you wish to convert your coins to jewels I'm well equipped to accommodate most transferrals... for a small fee of course. If you wish simply to store your wealth here I can assist you as well, free of charge, though there is a small fee to be paid for any withdrawls... Guarding people's wealth isn't free after all.
The man proceeds to explain the costs of his services: He will happily exchange coins and metal for other media (including precious stones, charging only 10% of the value exchanged. In other words, if you one were to convert 600gp to stones, he would give you 600gp worth of gemstones and other valuable material, for a fee of 60gp.
If, on the other hand, you wish to simply deposit your gold in a safebox it costs nothing, but when you go to make a withdrawal and retrieve some of your money there will be a fee of 10% of whatever amount of coin you withdrew, which can be paid from the money withdrawn, or paid with money still be kept safely. So if you have 600gp deposited with the moneychanger and you decide to withdraw 100gp, it will cost you 10gp. You can pay this with the money you withdrawn (meaning you give 10gp to Nura and receive 90gp), or you can pay it with the coin he's still keeping safe for you (meaning you'll get 100gp in hand, and have 490gp remaining in the bank after paying you 10gp fee to make a withdrawal).

Selvam replies back, Thankyou for your time. I will have to think this over. He leaves and heads back.
OOC:
Not too interested in 10% interest.

After the priest leaves the room to attend his business, Alice places 40 gold coins in the poorbox in addition to the 60 she intends to hand the priest directly. She scans over the texts and scrolls displayed as she waits for Calmert to return. Once he does, Sister Alice takes a knee with her hammer laid before her and proffers her tithe, telling that it was taken through righteous combat.

As a Clerist of St. Cuthbert my cudgel is yours to command Father. I am Sister Alice, call on me if anything you should need.

Sister Alice
Thank you, Sister Alice" says the frail looking priest. Your generous donation to the Church will aid greatly in our endeavors to provide services to the people of this small village. If you'll be staying in Hommlet, I will keep you in mind, should need of your services arise."

Angel offers the Innkeeper a smile and responds, "No more ale at the moment. I was wondering about rooms for our group and wanted to ask if you had a secure strongbox for the storage of valuables?"

Kelric hears Angel inquiring about a room and begins to wonder if the group is passing through or not. Finishing his ale, he asks of Angel Are you all just passing through, or do you have business in town? I just got back after a long hunt myself and will be here a few days.

Sister Alice thanks Father Calmert for his time and returns to the tavern to rejoin her companions. Once there, she procures a room for the night before seeing into other matters.

Coulson starts from his doze, peering out from under his bushy brow at the room around him, arm moving slightly to check the position of his shield and weapon. Hearing Kelric’s question he replies "Well I ‘magine we be ‘ere a day or two. We ‘as to deliver our load t’blacksmith, an’ ‘twas a ‘ard journey so a days rest would do us good. Then I spose we either split our own ways, or look fer more work as a group. Me self I reckon I’d like the latter. Good bunch, good fighters, an it be pleasant to ‘ave company on the road fer a change"

Alice returns from speaking with the barman just in time to catch the end of Coulson's comment about company.

I was thinking the same thing. If there is righteous vengeance to be dealt then we are strongest together. Perhaps we should look into the bandit problem this town seems to have. Might be a way we can make a name for ourselves through the glory of combat.

It is a bit longer and Selvam comes striding back in. Much the same as when he left. Upon seeing the party he heads over to take a seat. They ask much to take care of large amounts of coin.
Oct 17, 2020 7:48 pm
We could buy a mule to carry our coin until a better method presents itself,

Alice suggests to Selvam.

Perhaps a herd of them. I think it is best to find some jewelry or such someplace besides that building I went to.

Aldrusian says:

OOC:
So the timeline of the conversations is maybe a little wonky due to where PCs are, where they went to/from and how long it would take them to travel between locations, and when individual players made posts for their PCs irl, but I think it's not too big of a deal. It's not like we're trying to write a canonically accurate Star Wars novel here. Basically, we're going to play this out that Angel inquires about the room and strongbox at around the time that Alice and Selvam are returning from their errands, and happen to walk into the various conversations posted.
Angel
It's about 4:30 or 5pm. Around the same time Selvam and Alice return to the tavern, Angel enquires about rooms at the inn for the evening. The Innkeeper nods appreciatively at the prospect of more business for the night and addresses Angel's question "Aye we have a number of rooms available to suit your liking, ser. Anything from a simple but private room for 2 gold a night, to a finer but still private suite for 5 gold a night which 'as an inner and outer room an' a fine breakfast served in the mornin'. If you prefer to stay with your companions for the evening, or wish to save some coin, we have a large dormitory sleeping room for 1 silver per night. The Wench provides hot tea and fresh baked bread to the dormitory every morning, as well as warm water and clean towels for your morning ablutions, free of charge. I cannot promise that you'll be by yourselves in the dormitory, as many travelers find the accommodations quite acceptable for the silver piece I charge, but it's rare we have any issues among guests.
"Which gets us to your second enquiry"
, the man says a bit more quietly, and Angel can see some reservation on his face before he begins talking. "I do have a strongbox which you and your companions may store your valuables in if you prefer to leave them with me, and I provide such services free of charge as long as you are a guest at the inn. However, I'll secure no more than a thousand gold per guest and I'll hold your money for no more than one week, regardless of how long you'll be staying here. If you'll be staying at the Wench for longer than that, you'll need to take your valuables to the moneychanger or find some other means of storing them. This isn't a bank and I don't have the means or manpower to secure large sums of money for long periods of time. I trust my own valuables' storage there only in between regular deposits with the money changer, and while I don't expect any trouble I'll not be held responsible should anything ultimately happen to your goods in event of a robbery or fire. If that doesn't suit you, I recommend you have a word with Nira Melubb over at the moneychanger's up the road."

Just as the innkeeper finishes answering Angel's enquiries, the little bell above the door to the Wench's common room tinkles, and six rough-looking men walk inside. They scan the place over a moment with sharp, cagey eyes and wander to the table in the corner where Kelric was sitting earlier, keeping their backs to the wall. The men wear patchwork leathers, shortswords on their hips, and crossbows on their backs. As they have a seat at the table one of them shouts to a busy serving girl on her way to the kitchen, "Oy, wench! Six large ales on yer way back!" They proceed to sit quietly, appraising the taverns other patrons as they wait.

Alice pays for a private room and thanks the barman. When the six armed men enter, she takes note of their faces and weapons and then turns back to her companions.

We should see about the blacksmith before it gets too late. If he's just across the road then it should be no trouble at all.
Oct 17, 2020 10:08 pm
Since Angel is standing very close to Alice he nods and says, "I'll see to the team and wagon. If they haven't been unhitched, we can just walk them across the street. He will wait until after their business is completed to arrange for rooms for those still needing them.

Good, let's be on our way then.

Alice follows Angel out to the wagon and escorts it across the street to the blacksmith.
Oct 17, 2020 11:04 pm
Selvam listens, At least when we can complete what we came here for. He follows along.
Oct 18, 2020 1:58 am
Kelric pulls his hood over his head and follows the group outside. Mind if I follow along? I don't like the look of that lot inside. I've also been looking for what to do next now that hunting in these woods is getting more difficult with the bandits and all lurking about.
