Character Creation Thread

Feel free to use this for both rolling stats and discussion. As a reminder, characters are split into 4 parties, 3 per. Start at level 3. Roll for scores, 7 sets and drop whichever you want. Traits are allowed at 1 trait + 1 drawback + 1 trait (in that specific order but you may stop at 1 trait)

Lets do some rolling to help make decisions.

Got excited for a moment. Could be better, could be worse. Lets go look at Mad builds

Correct! Hunter looks good, I just need to ask what nation he's from and where he'll be starting his adventure from. (and to be clear, it can be the same nation.) As an Elf, while it makes sense for him to start in Cerulea, there are no "requirements" for location + race combinations.

If you have any additional questions regarding details for each nation, or if you'd like to discuss a city or town you'd like to add as his hometown, I'm completely flexible on how to work him into the setting.

Currently the party slots are as follows:
Ashdra: 1/3
Hydrulus: 0/3
Cerulea: 0/3
Therris: 1/3

Currenty thinking a Jistkan Magus, unless hunter is a magus?

Are there any regions more likely to have ruins etc

That archetype sounds awesome. And Hunter is a Wizard! Class restrictions are not really a thing, and depending on where you start, he may not even be in your party. (Otherwise a desire to have a class unique to you is fine as well, I don't see the problem with making sure the entire group covers a lot of bases.)

So, if I'm going with the short lore described on the archetype, it looks like you're looking for an older civilization that built golems. (We can always change it if that's not what you're going for, but assuming so:) Aside from the obvious Fracture being entirely ruin, Cerulea and Hydrulus tend to have more on-thematic ruins for you, if you're going for a golem arm. Ashdra and Therris don't tend to employ or create constructs except on rare occasions. Cerulea may use them for more manual labor, so they may be more common there. There are probably ruins of golem workshops in Hydrulus, since the people likely abandoned those projects, finding them cruel at worst or shady at best.

Good point. Just wanted to be sure I wasn't treading on toes.

Hydrulus may work. The concept was to pair it with possessed hand, (And possibly artifact later if allowed), and basically have *something* in there with interest in what's going on, and the poor magus is being dragged along for the ride. Was thik she basically earned extra coin showing adventurers to the ruins and looking after their stuff/helping with camps, while they ruin dived, and yeah that led to the arm through a series of events, if that works?

LightOfMidnight says:
That sounds good to me! So the arm has something (undefined but seemingly sentient) in there that's trying to influence her? This character is already teeming with potential.
Nov 10, 2020 4:48 pm
Yep that's the plan. Also likely the source of her magic/abilities etc. Its a concept I've had for a while, though yeah if you're happy to up for you to be the one to sort of define what it is as the game progresses. If not I have a couple of possible ideas.

Also is it standard lv 3 starting wealth?

Are there restrictions on how we spend starting gold? And any limits to what Hunter can have enchanted a bonded item with (assuming I decide on an amulet instead of the bow)?

Cerulea sounds like a good fit!

Yes-- you have 3000 gold + your class's rolled starting wealth.

Cerulea sounds like a good fit!
- The restriction at this level is the gold itself... you can't get much out of 3000, I think. Not in my experience. Do keep track of your items and their value.
- From my research, because you automatically meet all feat requirements to enchant a bonded item, the restrictions normal are as written here. (Know the spell and be able to afford half the value.)

And great! I'll assign your group and update the slots. Once that party has at least 1 other player, I'll start setting stuff up in Cerulea.

HP and Gold

Rolls

hp - (2d8)

(17) = 8

gold - (4d6)

(1633) = 13

Regarding buying new spells, should I 1) assume I can find a friendly wizard willing to sell me access at half the transcription cost 2) assume I have to buy the spell in scroll form or 3) other?

Rolls

HP - (2d4)

(41) = 5

Nov 10, 2020 10:04 pm
As a heads up, you get a d6 hp for health for wizards in pathfinder. Slightly less killable.

If for fluff reasons, you can assume they were sold, but I also may have you stumble upon books during play as well.

OK, thanks for bringing me aboard. I'll roll my stats here and now. Was thinking of a Cleric or Druid. We'll see what the numbers say.

So it looks like a Cleric with the following stats:

St: 11 In: 11 Wi: 19 (human bonus of +2) Dx: 13 Co: 12 Ch: 11
