Ah well as for mysteries and/or puzzles the key is to supply enough clues that an industrious party has a means to figure it out -- and/or have the mystery resolve itself should the players ignore it -- in a manner that obviously shows the answer but in a detrimental way to encourage perhaps not ignoring the next one ;)
