You encountered the rats on February 6, (Bob Marley's b-day, little fun fact for you), so nearly 20 days ago. But you've been fighting the rats for about 30 seconds, in-game.
Loken swings his sword at a rat but misses again. Meanwhile, one of the rats snaps at Mal and misses. Elmo swings his battleaxe again but this time his swing misses.

Loken swings his sword and barely misses the rat before him, before Gilly and Angel's arrows go sailing past the melee fighters but clatter against the stone wall behind their targets.
One of the rats lunges at Elmo and delivers another sharp bite to the man's forearm, and Elmo gives a small grunt in acknowledgement. Another rat bites at Maloria but misses, and the final rat joins his companion in trying for a snack from Elmo, but the militia man pulls his hand away in time.

Gilly fires her bow. The arrow slices through the gap between Loken and Maloria hitting the rat attacking Elmo in the side of the neck. It attempts a squeal of pain but it comes out as a coughing gurgle before it dies.
OOC:
Success! The mischief of Giant Rats has been dispatched of with relatively few injuries to the party, and no deaths, through the clever use of a kill-box!

OOC:
You now have some decisions to make. There are 2 as yet unexplored rooms in this floor, which may be empty, or may contain any number of vicious creatures that might make up a moth long encounter! There is a set of stairs going underground as yet unexplored. There is one severely wounded Halfling and a pretty badly wounded Cleric, as well as two slightly wounded Militiaman and barbarians. It's approaching atround 3pm.
What... do you do?
Mar 2, 2021 7:51 pm
"Are there any left? Are those blasted rats finally gone? Good gods, this felt like it took ages." Eltrezar lets out a sigh of relief, his arms dropping wearily to his sides. "It is a wonder we did not struggle more, though your tactics proved quite effective, Dwarf. Well done. And you, barbarian, I must thank you for preventing the rats from attacking those of us in the back... even if that is all you did here. Have you considered the use of magicks to improve your sword-arm?"

Pushing past Mal, the wizard goes to collect his knives, using the hem of his robes to wipe away the blood that stain a few of them. He peers into the room beyond, but refrains from entering first. "There had best be some wonders through this doorway, wonders left untouched by these damned rats."
Mar 2, 2021 8:28 pm
It appears this room was once used for storage of dry goods and sundries, but the rats have consumed almost everything down to the last crumb. At the top of one of the highest shelves, however, Eltrezar finds a jug of oil, containing enough oil for 10 flasks.
The only other thing of note is a stairway in the northwest corner of the room which appears to lead deep into the ground. It's very dark, and Eltrezar can just barely make out a stone archway at the bottom of the staircase opening into a room pitch black and too dark to see any details of. You're certain that a light source will be needed to continue past the archways.
Mar 2, 2021 8:53 pm
"Well that was fun," Mal says sarcastically.

"How would you all feel about heading back to town so I can report to the church and we can recover?"
Mar 2, 2021 9:01 pm
"Doesn't look like there's much in this room to recover," suggests Angel. "I would agree to a trip back to the Inn and a good night's rest.
OOC:
Angel will pick up whatever arrows that are still usable and share them with Gilly.
