Hearing the scream, Garn pushes his way past the guard and rushes over to where he heard the scream.

Maia is either going to complete that ritual or be knocked out by a healer.
OOC:
I guess we're about to find out if you can summon lying down.

"Leave her be. Don't touch her!" I immediately leap to her aid, full of furious rage.

Dahlia leaps up, reinvigorated from her lay on hands, picks up the Spears the two guards drop, and in a very commanding but diplomatic voice "gentlemen that's quite enough. MaIA, lay down please, we will attend to the issue as soon as this scenario is handled. There is no need for further bloodshed this day."
OOC:
This damn dice roller. SMH.

Hearing Maia scream, Toshi hisses and bolts, hot on Garn's heels. Without his disguise, he tries his best not to be seen by anyone both as he heads outside and as he follows Garn into the women's tent.

"I HAVE TO DO THIS!" Maia screams through the tears. "Just... just let me FINISH THIS."
Apr 15, 2016 8:31 pm
I attempt to shove myself in front of Maia and block anyone who attempts to grab her.
Apr 15, 2016 8:51 pm
I will also place myself between the guards and Maia, next to Xulara, and holding up the holy symbol on my necklace i will channel postitive energy. Everyone in the room will feel invigorated as they gain 2d6 hit points.

Only half awake as an attendant checks her wounds Hegy is suddenly shot fully awake by Maia's scream. Seeing her comrade being rushed by guards she quickly sits up and winces in pain. "What in the hell happened to us?" she wonders as she struggles to her feet.

Hegy jumps to her feet as Xulara leaps between Maia and the attendants/guards. Dahlia rushes to grab the weapons as she channels her faith. The ladies feel their pains ease as their wounds heal even further, and leave only light scars.

Toshi and Garn see, as they race from their tent, two men...one in chainmail and priest robes, and the other in full uniform, rush to the tent, and manage to enter right behind them.

Seeing the young woman distressed as the attendants and guards try to subdue everyone, the commander gives a shout that would make any drill instructor proud: "STAND DOWN, SOLDIERS!"

The guards all step back and fall into line with the practice of trained military life. The attendant turns to the commander and argues: "Sir, you don't understand...she started screaming, and I-"

"And you caused her more distress by trying to rush in and subdue her. This small ritual might put her mind at ease, and then we can finish the healing process, Alana," the priest says, very calmly. "Everyone, please calm down. We will not touch the young woman."
OOC:
The dice did not want you to wait, apparently. No standoffs for you!

As Maia completes the ritual, she clutches onto that which it conjures. She whispers to the red-haired, bright creature "You're okay now... you're okay." She mutters this absentmindedly as she holds on to him, then looks around as if she slowly realizes what is going on. She looks to her companions as she winces in pain, wounds reopening due to her sudden movements. They leapt to her defense for no pay, no promise of reward, and on no one's orders. Just... for companionship? In the name of their shared mission? Perhaps... perhaps these people... she can trust.

She looks past Istariel toward everyone in the room, suddenly embarrassed by her outburst, her tears. "I'm... I'm sorry for all this commotion." She then adopts on the calm, business-like face she uses when operating with her Guild superiors as she glances around the room.

"What... what happened? How did we get here? What happened to those... kobold zealots?"
Apr 18, 2016 4:54 am
Toshi skulks in what scarce shadow he can find in the tent. He's still reluctant to reveal himself to everyone. Garn hadn't batted an eyelash but some of the others, whether out of racial prejudice or out of feelings of betrayal caused by his deception, might not be so accepting. He watches Maia intently. It seems she hasn't been forthcoming about her heritage either. But who would begrudge one of the Bright Ones anything? They're more likely to fall at her feet and worship her.

As Istariel materializes, Toshi feels a pang of envy twist in his heart like a knife. They will always have each other. Oh Aki, I miss you so much! I'm sorry I couldn't protect you.

Dahlia drops the weapons once the men stand down. Walking forward to greet the commander. "Hello commander. My name is Dahlia, paladin of Sarenrae. We were here on a mission to protect a halfling and a treasure he had found. Obviously we failed. That's why the Kobold army was here, to find this artifact. We have no intentions of causing any harm to your men or your town, and we thank you for your assistance."
Apr 18, 2016 12:35 pm
There's a brief look of disbelief on the commander's face at the mention of a kobold army, but the stoic man quickly regains his composure.

"I'll want to debrief you all as soon as possible. Sit down, shut up, and let the healers do their jobs. Once you're fully healed, you'll be equipped and escorted to my tent. Until then, don't talk about what happened. Understood?"
Apr 18, 2016 12:40 pm
"Absolutely. Thank you commander."

I smile pleasantly at the commander and wait for him to leave. Don't talk about what happened? Sit around politely and wait until we're told what to do next? Sure, we're alive and that's all well and good but I didn't escape with my life just to be subject to this kind of tyranny. He wants something from us. They always do.

"Yes. Thank you."

Through her own slowly-numbing pain, Maia notices someone else who hurts. She briefly glances at the catfolk who has been so silent on their trip. Maybe they share more than she first thought.

The commander leaves, and the healer has the attendants separate everyone into male and female tents again, before examining their wounds. He mumbles to himself quite frequently, and a comment can be heard about how someone has done a fine job of conjuring some healing over the ladies..."well, for an amateur, anyways". After a brief moment of focusing on his holy symbol, energy that feels similar to a warm spring day floods the tent, and your wounds are healed the rest of the way.

As he walks out of the ladies' tent, more attendants come in, carrying all of the gear EXCEPT for weapons. The attendants then help the ladies down their armor, as the healer goes to attend the men.

Garn and Toshi, the healer does a lot of clucking his tongue and looking at your wounds with disapproval...they aren't as healed as those in the other tent. However, he again focuses on his holy symbol, and a warm summer breeze seems to fill the tent as your wounds close. He walks out, very satisfied and without another word, and attendants come in immediately after with all of your gear, save weapons.

Once everyone is dressed and ready, the guards escort you to a large tent in what used to be the village square. You can see that most of the buildings are but shells of their former selves, if they are standing at all. The temple, where most of you fell in battle, is in ruins. It would appear your opponents tried to bury you in the rubble.

Overall, the state of the village makes you wonder just how exactly you survived.

"So what do you know commander? What information can we provide you?

Garn looks with concern at Maia, "Is everything alright? You gave use quite the scare in there!"
