OOC - Ongoing Game Questions

Awesome! Okay everyone, what kind of person is the crew looking to recruit? I'm currently either considering someone that brings brawn to the table or maybe someone who can do some piloting but may be more focused on planetary. What does the crew need?

I always say to play the character you'd like to. We could always use some muscle for when a fight breaks out. Or a face.

Hey, all. I'm the other new guy. Been doing vacation stuff this week (kinda still am). Will get a character together shortly.

I think I am nearly ready to submit my character. I am currently purchasing equipment. Should I stick with the 500+1d100 or should there be more to average with the current party?

Also I am in between the Survivalist Bounty Hunter and Scout Explorer. Any ideas or input on that?

I personally prefer the survivalist. It may be too long term thinking for pbp, but you can also start thinking about what you'd want your second spec to be. Save some XP if it's in career

I am thinking Smuggler Theif or Tech Slicer. I'm leaning towards theif mostly because I really dislike the Slicer talent tree

Question: Do us new PCs get any extra spending cash to go with our 20 extra XP?

Edited: I was thinking Smuggler/Theif, but now I'm seeing folks mentioning being light on muscle. I tend to like making fighty characters, but so does everyone else, so I was thinking I'd steer away from that instinct. However, if the crew needs a shooty guy, I've got a concept that I really like. Gonna mess around with Oggdude's a bit more. Final submission later today.

Pergano is the pilot. AD-Hoc more tech. In the absence of Xelforp we lack a medic. We're a little light on combat oriented characters. But to be honest I'd just go with what you like the look of, we're a ragtag crew!

I don't have huge amounts of experience but I know some people are a bit down on the Scout due to lack of combat abilities. Personally I like the flavour and did make a Scout character for another game that didn't get off the ground.

Now I have decided to go with a Chadra-fan Bounty-Hunter / Gadgeteer. His skillset has overlap with other PCs, but... that's just who he is. He used to be a "sidekick" / weapon smith for a bigger, badder bounty hunter until a job went south and that person got killed. Now he needs a new crew to hang with and a new source of income to pay his debts.

Interesting, I'm going to go with a Nautolan Bounty Hunter / Survivalist. He's an up-and-comer trying to make a name for himself. As such, he has no ship and few resources so he's looking for some partners.

Maybe we partnered up first, and then joined this crew. Alternatively, I could alter my backstory, and my PC could have started as the sidekick / weapon smith to your PC. We could coordinate our obligations, and together seek out a crew to join.

I like the idea of us pairing up first and then meeting them later. I don't think my character is the type for a "sidekick", he would rather partner with someone, plus he's probably too new. I'm waiting to hear what our credit situation is before I decide on my obligation but I think it would be great to coordinate obligation for our characters, or at least part of it.

I'm imagining that Meebo's (my character) first partner ran up some kind of obligation, and when he died, that obligation got forcibly transferred to Meebo. My initial thought is monetary debt, but could be some other thing his first partner did that Meebo needs to make up for.
