I think the 'pack heat' plan is interesting. The not so subtle threat from the Yiyars would give you a pretty solid place to build from.

Right-o. So maybe we 1) do a re-roll, assuming multiple representatives are present and Creds is trying to convince the room (thus a higher difficulty than what I rolled), or 2) montage a few rolls of Creds sharing drinks over the next few hours with a other bidding reps, doing a series of rolls to convince each individually.

We could theoretically RP all the different encounters out, but I'm trying to not bog the game down with his machinations. :)

The montage sounds like fun, almost a like Face working the room. Buying a drink here, next shot, laughing with a couple folks, then whispering in someone's ear, etc. I agree it could get lengthy, if you want to do a description of what it looks like with 3 Average rolls that should get us a feel for how it's going. Take AD-hoc's blue die for the assist :)

Is the auction first thing in the morning? Creds would like to buy a custom scarf for the occasion, so (pending GM approval), he'll do that in the morning.

I'm hoping he can spend some of his "Sound Investments" credits on custom scarves or ascots from time to time. They would function like Lando's capes from the Gadgets and Gear book (p. 133)—essentially granting certain social bonuses in specific circumstances. That book recommends that custom capes (for Creds, scarves) have Encumbrance 1, Rarity 6, and start at 900 credits. GM can always say they cost more, of course. So, something like:

Hand-woven Lutrillian auctioneer's scarf (Rarity 6, 900 credits; the wearer may add +1 Success +1 Advantage to any Negotiation check they make versus multiple opponents).

This auction is Mid-morning, think 10ish. Plenty of time to get a scarf.

How do you want to run this, Esidrix? A series of Negotiation checks, one per crate we're interested in?

Do we know what the potential profit is? Because I'd like Ken to make a fake bid for the first one and seem to get carried away in a bidding war. The idea is to reinforce that he doesn't know which is which (to people in the know) or that maybe this one if valuable (to those not in the know) and also that he has a tendency to impulsivity and overbidding. But I also don't want to blow all our profit!

On the upside your 'bidding' with Lianna Limited Inc.'s credits, since your there as company representatives. I was assuming that we'd run it as a scene with one or maybe two rolls. My feeling was you'd run it with as much subterfuge as you could, bidding crazy on some crates and quitting suddenly, slow bidding on others and jumping in at the last to confuse the other buyers of the ones you wanted. I'd expect you'd try and buy at least 6-8 of the crates to further conceal your specific interest.

This feels like somewhere between deception and gambling. Also, it seems I quite luckily split the containers up into four groups. Each 5 crates (1-5, 6-10, etc.) contain 1 of the target crates. Let me know what brings in the best dice pool with someone making assists or helps or if you want to seem like your 'arguing' about which crates to buy. We'll throw some dice and then narrate the scene :)

I think AD-hoc will try and help by make oddly specific opening bids. (13 credits,m 12,472 credits etc.) Hoping people will think he knows what he's talking about because he is a droid.

Yeah, the series of a few rolls makes sense rather than a crate-by-crate play-by-play. It sounds like Deception to bid up the "bad" crates and either Cool or Negotiation to bid on the desired ones without tipping our hand. Maybe alternative checks of each? Creds is better at Negotiation than Cool, but if anyone in the party has 2 ranks or Cool or more, that's skilled assistance and will be just as good as his Negotiation. (His scarf currently is aimed at boosting Negotiation, but if we go with Cool, I'll just swap that out.)
