OOC:
Yes, Braegar would know.
Apr 26, 2016 9:07 am
Braegar walks over to where he has buried the iron rod and digs it up. He returns to the group

"I don't know how much use this will be but maybe we can use it to break these chains, and as a weapon"
OOC:
Do you just want a strength check to break the chains?

Seeing the dragonborn with the iron bar, Ardulaer walks over to have a closer look,

"My, you're a resourceful one, aren't you?"
Apr 26, 2016 10:49 am
Braegar watches Ardulaer with suspicion as she approaches.

I wonder what she wants? Better tread carefully with her, she will more than likely sell us out for her own gain

"I can be when needed. Is there anything that I can help you with?"
OOC:
I'd like to roll insight on her to see if I can find out what she is up to

Rolls

Insight on Ardulaer - (1d20+2)

(11) + 2 = 13

Apr 26, 2016 11:20 am
OOC:
thought it was a slight of hand to slip out lol I'll roll my dex check now

Edit: well that's embarrassing

Rolls

Dex check - (1d20+1)

(1) + 1 = 2

"If you can crack open these manacles I think the question is what I can do for you." she purrs, "I'm getting out of here one way or another, maybe we can help each other out."
OOC:
Despite distaste at interacting with another species, Ardulaer is actually willing to do whatever it takes to escape. She also has an honour code, and will keep her word once it is given.
Apr 26, 2016 5:30 pm
Raegar ponders what Ardulaer has said for a moment before replying

"What is it exactly that you can do for us?"
Apr 26, 2016 5:34 pm
"Who else here knows these caverns better than me? Who else can speak Undercommon? I should be asking what you can do for me?"
Apr 26, 2016 8:16 pm
OOC:
@Scotash If you want to break the manacles with your own hands, it's a Strength check. If you want to try to break the manacles with the iron rod, then roll an attack and damage (use the stats of a club in the Player's Handbook for weapon damage and whether or not you can add your proficiency bonus). If you try to smash the manacles with the iron rod, then you have to either try to break someone else's manacles or you someone else has to try to break yours. If you try to break the manacles with just your own two hands, you can try to break your own.

@Valcos You try desperately to wrench your hands out of the manacles, but you aren't able to get them out. In your effort, several of the other prisoners seem to notice your attempts.

It's just a straight dexterity check to slip out of the manacles, but it doesn't matter--either roll would have failed.
Apr 26, 2016 9:49 pm
After clearly struggling to slip out of the manacles, the bard addressed Ardulaer's questions. Janko spoke the following in Undercommon directed at the drow.

"Actually, I speak Undercommon as well. Though, my set of skills beyond that aren't that valued in this situation. We do share the want to escape here, regardless of what it takes. Try to slip out of your manacles, I've been trying for days."
Apr 26, 2016 9:56 pm
"It has to be worth a try..."

Rolls

Dexterity check to slip off the manacles - (1d20+3)

(17) + 3 = 20

Apr 27, 2016 12:57 am
Ardulaer struggled for the manacles for a second, before managing to slip out of them entirely and catching the manacles with her now free hands before they fell to the floor. The manacles were still connected by a short chain to the iron belt around her waist, and there was a still a thick iron collar around her neck.
Apr 27, 2016 5:30 am
Braegar watches Ardulaer and follows suit, attempting to slip out of his manacles

Rolls

Dex save to slip manacles - (1d20+6)

(6) + 6 = 12

Apr 27, 2016 6:03 am
Her hands were free! And it was... embarrassing. Why had it taken the suggestion of one of the other prisoners to try that? Examining her reasoning she supposed that her opinion of her jailers had just been too high. If she had somehow been captured by humans or dwarves she would have thought they might make a mistake and tried to slip free, but with drow she had assumed they were competent.

Lesson learned, no more assumptions. And perhaps drow can be as incompetent as some of the other races.

Rubbing her wrists and stretching, Ardulaer grinned at the other prisoners,

"We will be out of here soon enough, my friends!"

Watching the other prisoners slip out of their manacles, Wil gives it a go.

"I sure hope you're right. What's your name by the way? I'm Wil." He extends his hand towards the drow woman.

Rolls

Dexterity check to get out of manacles - (1d20+4)

(11) + 4 = 15

"Ardulaer, Matron of Clan Mae-ett," she replied, looking with confusion at the offered hand.

No point telling him I'm only Matron because the rest of the clan are dead, an outlander wouldn't understand.

"I'm guessing that title has done you no good down here, Matron."

Janko wondered how a drow with a title could be stuck in a shit hole like this, but then he remembered something. He remebered how easy it was to bullshit with a little confidence and knowledge. Barben didn't think Ardulaer was being anything more than the typical clansman though, who wouldn't be proud of their origin.

"Come butter my wrists, I'm not as sly as you, m'lady."

He spoke in Undercommon.

"In fact, my title is the very reason I'm down here! My clan and Ilvara's are not on the best of terms. As for "buttering your wrists", perhaps we would find a suitable oily residue on the lichens or fungus on the cave walls. Why don't you look in that direction and I'll try this way?" she says and immediately goes poking and prodding the growths on the walls.

Rolls

Perception is +2, investigation is -2 - (1d20)

(9) = 9

Apr 27, 2016 1:16 pm
"Ilvara might as well be the fungus on the walls."

Janko thought the idea was actually worth a shot.

Rolls

investigation - (1d20+4)

(6) + 4 = 10

nature? - (1d20+4)

(13) + 4 = 17

Braegar attempted to slide the manacles off, but after a minute of struggling, he couldn't manage to get his hands through. Wilcome followed suit, but the results were the same. He couldn't manage to yank his hands through, as easily as Ardulaer appeared to.

Ardulaer and Janko both examined the walls and crevices in the stone, but the only fungi in the cell was the small ambulatory fungus, pressing itself into the corner of the cell away from the others.
