The Game

Brush gets an image of the daughter of this giant, and the voice of his soul reaches out, encountering a name to this giantess: Bjïlwa.

He says her name aloud, despite the dead giant not uttering it, and utters a prayer:

"To the unknown God to whom I pledge my fealty, I ask that you manifest the soul of Bjïlwa to us at this time. Her father, an honorable giant, wishes to see her one last time.

"I honor you; I pray you will honor my request.

"Thank you."

Shortly after, Brush’s soul disappears, and then, next to him in full size and scale to how she was in life, but all in grayscale, stands Bjïlwa, a pretty, pre-pubescent giantess.

She has a momentary look of confusion, but in seeing the face of the giant, she smiles softly and affectionately at her father. She tries to speak, but words do not escape the form. Brush faces the girl, listens, and repeats the words (which are in their dialect of Jötun, despite Brush not understanding the language, he speaks it fluently and perfectly).

The giant, pleased with his request being granted, and his full obligation being complete, moves back to his resting state, this time resting his face into the shape of a happy smile.

The connection with the spell being lost, the giantess image disappears, and is replaced with Brush’s soul.

"A formidable army. They certainly came prepared for possible conflict. Should we attempt further contact by bringing The Way closer or take one of the captured vessels in closer utilizing its cloaking device?"

W.A.R.P. X pondered the information from the giant.

"There are many unknown factors in this equation, and more appear every few minutes. The docent may have more information. Shall this unit attempt to bond with it now?"

"Yes, I believe more information is needed to board the Aurora safely."

Brush says, "WARP, let me get behind you, and I will restrain you. Then B-9 will insert the docent into your chest. We will see what information this thing has."

He then takes up a position behind WARP, and taps the inside of his legs to indicate how far to spread them, and then puts WARP into a head/arm lock, and flexes his wood-fingered sinews tightly. WARP would have difficulty moving around in this position.

"B-9, you’re up!"

"Understood. Take whatever precautions are necessary to ensure your survival and the successful completion of the mission," W.A.R.P. X replied as it allowed Brush to restrain it, not that it had much choice in the matter.

"This unit awaits insertion."

Despite their unfamiliarity with docents, B-9 did have extensive knowledge of warforged biomechanics. They quickly insert the object into the appropriate place within WARP.

"The docent says it will facilitate interfacing this unit with a Giant pilot, and will commence attunement protocols. This unit will instruct the docent to proceed."

"Commence attunement protocols," W.A.R.P. X thought back.

"This unit is a considerably newer model than L0-C0-A597 is used to. Please commence attunement protocols."

"Note comparison can occur in parallel with attunement. This unit is an Aetheric Research Probe designed for exploration beyond the planet's atmosphere. A great deal of time has passed since you were last bonded, and many powers have shifted. Your assistance is required in maintaining safety and security."

"Medical? While you search, check for any historical or tactical knowledge regarding astronautical phenomena. And for simplicity, this unit may be referred to as Warp X. How may I refer to you, L0-C0-A597?"

How long ago was it bonded with a speaking Warforge? Does it have any sense of time? Any sense of self?

"It certainly seems self-aware."

"Do you have any idea how long you were bonded last? And what were you repurposed to do?"

"Its designation is L0-C0-A597, and it was a medical docent before being 'repurposed'. There are many questions to ask it."
