Gerbo whispers "Do we jump them now, or when their friend gets here? Honestly, he had it coming, but I doubt their victims are always puffed up big talkers"
Apr 19, 2021 4:30 pm
"He talks big but he doesn't deserve to be beat to death." Belanor whispers back.
Apr 19, 2021 4:36 pm
Proud of herself that she managed to guide the group to the correct location, Kerisha hunkers down in the foliage as she hears the voices.
Kerisha knows tactics are not her thing, so she turns to Orel for orders.
"Take them out here?"
It was a question with a very think layer optimism, leaving the fighter in no doubt that she is ready to go, and even if he said wait she would probably already be halfway there by that point.

"Not beat to death, but knocked down a peg. Usually I prefer it be done in less savage ways, though. Picking on a little guy just because you can just proves you can't stomach a real fight. I'm thinking I don't want to get jumped from behind, but on the other hand, waiting could increase the chance of us being found."
OOC:
How well hidden are we from any paths we see approaching them? Would we be seen by someone coming to meet them?Apr 19, 2021 9:27 pm
OOC:
The group of you are about 30’ away, well hidden in the woods, and the four men are busy chatting and laughing it up. You won’t be seen or noticed unless you want to be or make loud noises. There is a slight clearing that follows along the ledge which the men used to get to the thickets. You’d be able to see someone else coming maybe 40’-50’ away off to your left if they use that same approach.
Apr 20, 2021 12:47 pm
Karma looks around the woods then whispers, "You know I could get the woodland creatures to help maybe distracting this dude these heaves are waiting for or them, or I can get them to eves drop and follow them. The animals of the woods are really friendly." Strangely a few insects are now gathered around him.
Apr 21, 2021 2:10 am
Orel shakes his head at Kerisha, and addresses the group. "We need information. I say we wait and listen as long as we can: if that Chute fellow starts coming or if they start heading in, we hit them when they least expect it." He glances over the clearing.
"Kerisha, you and I should step between them and the entrance if possible to stop them from fleeing inside. Gerbo, Belanor, you two try and cover the area around here, box them in with ranged attacks. Karma..." he looks Karma over, trying to asses his abilities. He can't get a read. "...uh, do what you do best. Also keep an eye on the clearing, try and isolate anybody that comes to join the fray."

I will be the first to say I'm no tabletop tactics expert so if any of this sounds like a horrible idea please feel free to speak up.Apr 21, 2021 2:18 am

looks good. Though I don't have a lot of crowd control spells lol but a range spell may help xDApr 21, 2021 9:50 am

The four men continue to yap back and forth for a few minutes before one of them has had enough waiting.
"Chute will have to find his way own his own. Glasstaff will be wanting to know that Hallwinter stiff is back in town."
The others agree and one of the men starts to pull away some of the growth of the thicket to reveal a tunnel, holding it open so that the others can enter.

Orel bursts out of the thicket and rushes towards RBR4, trying to impose himself between the group and the tunnel.
Orel takes the disengage action, raising his shield towards his left side while swiping to his right with his sword to keep the men at bay as he runs past them.
OOC:
Will some of the others get opportunity attacks? I'm not sure how you rule surprise + what the exact positioning is, and if there's a route around that takes 30' or less.[ +- ] If they would get opp. attacks

Orel slips through the men, sidestepping around and in front of RBR4 just as he brings his sword down diagonally towards his shoulder.

As Orel dashes from cover so to does Karma step out shield up and his holy symbol held in the other. He reaches deep within himself dragging out a small amount of negative energy he had collected over the last few days, it manifests itself above one of the humans in the shape of a smallish bear with large round ears. The manifestation opens it mouth and a roar that only can be described as nature’s anguish fills that humans mind, as the drop bear crashes upon him.
Action: Cast Toll the Dead (with a little nature flavouring) upon RBR4 if he is not killed by Orel’s attack, otherwise RBR3 will be the recipient.
Do we roll for NPC saves when we attack them?

Seeing Orel launch out, Gerbo moves to get a clear shot. Drawing and arrow, he bites his tongue and releases at RBR4 (unless he's dead, at which point, he'll hit RBR3).
OOC:
I'm assuming for these rolls that Orel is within 5 feet of my target, giving me sneak attack. If not, I'll hold my action to see if Kerisha or Belanor do anything to give me sneak attack. Rolls

Easily slipping by the stunned bandits, Orel's downward slash catches the bandit (RBR4) in the collar bone, shattering it with ease. The bandit falls to his knees with a groan and with his off hand reaches for his own weapon. He grunts as he starts to rise but pauses, drops his blade, and claps at his ears with his one good hand.
"Bells? Why am I hearing bells?" he yells out before collapsing to the ground.
With his original target of choice no longer a threat, Gerbo holds his attack, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
Kerisha and Belanor get a free turn, then we fall into the initiative order below.

Kerisha doesn't need to be told twice. She launches herself forwards after Orel. Seeing him skilfully cut down the first bandit, and not wanting to be left behind in the kill count, she continue her charge towards RBR3. Drawing as much attention as she can to give Gerbo an opening. As much as she wants to cut them all down, Kerisha knows the importance of teamwork, and her current companions seem some of the best she has ever had. She will need them around her if she is to complete her challenge, but right now there is a halfling family that deserved to live in peace from these menaces.
At full speed, Kerisha enters her battle focus. Her animalistic nature rises and she huffs like a bear on a hunt, before driving her massive blade towards her target.

With the bandit's attention squarely fixed on Kerisha's charge, Gerbo sees an opportunity and lets his arrow fly. The tip of the arrow drives deep between the man's ribs, tearing into his torso. The pain causes him to flinch and any chance he had at mounting a defense against the barbarian's attack has vanished.
Kerisha's blade finishes the job, nearly cutting completely through its target. Without a sound the man crumples to the ground.
