Hey, man. Take your time. I get it, I've had that happen to me. I mean, for me it was 800 pages of paper notes and character sheets and a fire but basically the same!

OOC:
Hope some day this will solve itself out.

Sadly, it might take more time than originally expected.

Right now, I have like 3616 folders filled with .txt files full of numbers and line of codes, each one weighting less than a single megabyte. I also found a bunch of .jpgs which seem to be part of a larger pictures, and some audio files with no sound in them... The only thing I've found so far which seems to indicate those are indeed my files is a single .jpg of what looks to be a page of a 3rd party D&D 3.x book which more than likely used to be a pdf. All strange...

I'm very disappointed at this data recovery. I have another friend who's willing to take a look at that, but this will have to wait until he gets back from his vacation in Cuba next month.

Been a while now. Any news?

I've yet to see my guy this month to try another shot at retrieving my files. Sorry.

Finally some good news.

the other guy who'm I've asked to retrieve my data from my external HD has managed to successfully retrieve it. The data is being transferred to my new HD as we speak and should end at some point tomorrow. Then it will only be a matter to get my HDs back from him and start the long process of reorganizing my shit. It might take some more time, but at least I'm seeing progress after nearly 5 months...

Wow, that's impressive. Wouldn't have thought it would work so well after the first failures.

Yeah, I don't want to jinx myself, but hopefully my data won't be corrupted...

Got another word of the guy working to retrieve my data. He decided to be a perfectionist and have another go at my HD just to make sure he retrieve everything and no data got corrupted. If everything goes well, I should get my HD back later this week.

I'm afraid I have some bad news. As I was transferring my data yesterday, I had a look at it, and it seems I have no .odt or .txt files. I talked to my friend and the only files format he failed to recuperate were those two. My campaign notes were using those formats. So I'm afraid this game is gone.

I'm sorry for everyone who played this game. But it looks like that's it.

Shit happens. It was a blast while it lasted.

Thanks, Kalajel, it was an excellent game. I've long wanted to play a proper Ravenloft game and feel that I've now done so.

I definitely plan on revisiting a PF Ravenloft game one of these days. I've had a lof of fun running this game. I might try to remake my campaign notes on my free time and retry my hand at running this game again. Who knows, perhaps I could follow it up by running Ravenloft II: House on Gryphon Hill as well...
