"Up, up and away sounds great to me! Come my fluidous friend! Lead the way for us mere meatbags."

So, if I understand you guys correctly, you're not checking out the data wafers, instead you're leaving the place?
May 9, 2022 2:15 pm
OOC:
My assumption was to try and read them with the proxy robot method at the leisure of our starship. If we can't read em, we can sell them. Probably to some whacko linguist.

OOC:
Oh, I assumed you'd end up selling those to some wacko linguist. I was just wondering if you'd try and check what was on them first. Well, doing it on the ship instead of right here works too... So y'all leaving the place?

OOC:
If we're done exploring, then let's try and read them now.

Kandza plugs her portacomp on the robot, then search for any other ports which could contain the data wafers. Luckily enough, she does find one...

"Strange robot..."

She inserts a data wafer and then types on her portacomp... She manages to get something. An image appears on the screen of her portacomp... It's a strange blue planet, third one from a sun you cannot identify. It then show a foggy city on a large island, with gaslit street lights, cobblestone streets, and horse carriages. Then the image follows a man dressed in a cloak, wearing a suit and stove top hat and walking with a cane. He is followed for a while through dark alleys until whatever is trailing him immobilize him and transport him to their ship... You then see several similar scenes of various species of the Frontier getting kidnapped from what looks like their original home worlds, some common, some rarer, though the Novim shine by their absence here.
Eventually, the feed changes to what you assume must have been the alien species which perform those abductions, some strange humanoid with thick swarthy skin and an elephantine trunk, speaking in a strange guttural unknown language.

"Seems like they've been abducting people for a very long time... Long before any of use came here, to the Frontier..."

Kandza then switches data wafer, but gets nothing out of the second one...

"Dratz! In think this one's data has become corrupted over time..."

"That's abominable! The fiends! Well, now they're dead, and their captives dead, or frozen and soon you be dead with them."
May 11, 2022 3:12 pm
Kandze stares at Sorrack for a moment. "Well, off-color joke apart, I guess you're right. Those people down there have been frozen for who knows how long, they may not be alive anymore... not all of them, at least. And of those who could still be saved, we would have trouble communicating with them as they would most likely speak some sort of archaic version of our languages. It's infuriating when you think about it, all those lives stolen..."
May 11, 2022 4:15 pm
"We don't have the resources to save them even if we wake them. The best we can do is try and send help for them if we ever get off this too-hard rock. It's a hard choice, but for now, they're safer where they are."
May 11, 2022 6:36 pm
"I wouldn't say safe myself, but rather the only option we realistically have; we won't do them any good dying in here holding hands and whatnot. Hard choice or not, it's the only viable one."

He turns to Sam:
"Whaddaya say?"

The ship only holds so many So we need to get the information to someone what can do something about them. The more stuff we collect will make it easier for those who return to safely revive them and get them out of here. so moving on upward finding what we can. For example that robot may well hold enough info to safely revive someone. My medical training is more how to fix injuries than cryosleep.

"I think we have 3 floors left to explore before getting out of here." Says Nero. "Well, 4 if we count the platform in the hangar, but we already checked that one out. This is how this whole mess started... Hopefully, not all doors will be locked, otherwise this will severely limit our ability to find things about this place seeing that puddles told us he's out of techkit..."
May 13, 2022 12:16 am
"Mesec told me there was a plasma weapon in the last closet. I had to check!"
May 13, 2022 12:21 am
"No, I think he meant he really hoped you'd fin... No, never mind puddles, let's go explore that next floor..." Nero started explaining, but gave up halfway through for some reason...
May 13, 2022 10:50 pm
Sorrack leads the group up to the next floor. Leads from behind that is.

You all make your way to the next upper level.

There are several large rooms in which you can see into through this strange glass that isn't, glass.
May 14, 2022 5:15 pm
Mesec will take a general look at the windows of the rooms from their end of the corridor.
OOC:
see what I did there? With my roll luck, I got to set up failing forward xD
Edit: of course I would critically succeed that one, lol!

Mesec's keep eye quickly evaluates the three rooms with "windows" into which he can see. The largest one seems to be some sort of cantina or café thanks the the row of neatly stacked, slightly larger than usual tables lined agains the far wall. The long vertical room connecting to the corridor seems to be some sort of gym thanks the the many mats of some sort of rubber polymer arranged on the floor with equal spacing, he can even see a few of them have deep impressions in them as if through frequent use... But what attracts Mesec's attention the most, is the long horizontal room connected to the cantina/café with a single large swinging door... It is obviously a kitchen, but there is a strange metallic gleam coming from one of the half-opened drawers which seems to indicate something interesting might be in there...

"Aha! Never underestimate a pilot's keen eye folks! See that swinging door at the far end to the right? The one in the cafeteria? There's a gleam going off right there. Let's go check that out."
May 15, 2022 2:59 pm
"Oh, sure, I spotted that right away, too. Race you." He waddles slowly for the door.
