KoldikSteelskin Character Discussions

Apr 1, 2021 10:08 pm
This thread is for discussing KoldikSteelskin's character please do not post anything here that is not related to KoldikSteelskin's character and yes collaborating with KoldikSteelskin is consider fair postings.

Please make your rolls in here and outline what your are doing so that I can give you feedback on the world. Do note though this game borrows heavily from the Forgotten Realms so you can use information from that setting to outline your background.

KoldikSteelskin says:
Philip Eltorchul
Human Wizard Order of the Scribes, from Eltorchul Academy Studied at Eltorchul for several years before heading of to Icewind Dale where he spent years sick Before Heading Below the ground where he learned of Moradin a new Conversion Philip Needs to tell everyone he meets.
So why did he travel to Icewind Dale?

Once he got sick why did he stay?

Why did he eventually go into the Underdark?

I am mostly wanting to get your thoughts and ideas so that I can then meld them into the world it be more tightly.

Also would be okay with me playing with his finding Moradin and perhaps give him someone a bit more scholarly and/or interesting or would that be non-appealing to you? I am not trying to remake your character concept but more fine tune it so I kind of need a better understanding of what parts of the concept are essential for the flavor you are striving for.

Philip Traveled from Waterdeep to Icewind Dale as a way to escape the intrigue of Waterdeep for it was to much for him. There He Fell sick and was bedridden for years and so could not leave the upper reaches of the land eventually when an expensive medicine was shipped to him he was able to recover long enough to return from the Dale

Returned to Waterdeep? I thought he ventured into the Underdark from Icewind Dale and discovered Moradin?

Later When He Returned Now Several Years Older He Found The Political Intrigue Boring and left again, this time to travel below.

As for someone else more scholarly I choose Moradin Because he was a non-human deity who others might think it strange that he followed

Okay so started in Waterdeep left because the political intrigue was a bit too much for him.

Went way north but got sick during the colder months until he acquired some special healing.

Returned to Waterdeep now finds it boring?

Then ventures into the Underdark.

How about we play with that a bit and make it bit more interesting ;)

[ +- ] Eltorchul Academy
Philip grew up in Waterdeep in the prominent Eltorchul noble family who own the Eltorchul Academy which has of course seen better days. The political intrigue that got to be too much for Philip to take had more to do with his own family and their internal power struggle that ensued vaccum left by Oth's incapacitation. As such Philip actually fled far north hoping to avoid an untimely demise, taking a few heirlooms with him when he left as he did not plan to return. However, he had not apparently left soon enough by the time he had arrived in Ice Winddale he had already succumbed to the sickness that had already taken a few of his other relatives. Knowing there was no cure back in Waterdeep Philip had almost resigned himself to a slow death, when by happenstance (perhaps) met a Dwarf named Harmeir Flintfury a priest of Vergadain. Harmeir felt he could help Philip but they would have to travel to the Underdark to acquire what was needed. Not having any other options Philip accompanied Harmeir.

The Underdark proved to be much more than Philip ever imagined it would be. It was like a whole world unto itself hidden from beneath the surface of the earth. However, it was not without its dangers and while obtaining the final ingredient needed for his cure Harmeir did not survive the dangers. With his dying words he gave Philip his holy symbol and prayed that Vergadain would bless him with a long and productive life. This Dwarf he had known so little about had given his life so that Philip could live, it made no sense at the surface. The Harmeir had always said, if you can learn to perceive what lies beneath the surface many things will be open unto you. Philip had always thought he was referring to the Underdark but in those final moments he realized that Harmeir was talking about people. At that for some reason, that he had not yet discovered, Vergadain had sent Harmeir to his aide.

During his fevered moments of recovering from the sickness he remembered hearing, "Seek Far Reach, Look Below Its Surface." Further as he thought back upon those words, he had the impression that there were multiple layers to that simple statement but he would not know until he investigated it thoroughly.

So what do you think? Workable?

Sounds Great! But as for finding Waterdeep boring that was just two different ways of him explaining that he didn't like Waterdeep.

Okay just so you know I have approved the character but have not reviewed it yet and I am sure we have elements to finish but I am confident we can iron those out with out any issues.
