Out of Character

Thread for any out of character discussion that's needed.

I am so sorry for the silence. I've had some pretty serious work-related issues come up, and I've been pulling some extra shifts until I can get some more staff hired. It's not my intent to slow things down, so I do apologize. I'm just incredibly exhausted after getting home and don't have much left in me to... well, do anything, really. I know that's sort of a cop-out, but I have to prioritize work first and fun second. In the well-meaning intent not to be an albatross, I'm going to bow out. I had a blast, but I can't realistically count on myself to put out a post regularly right now.

Totally understandable. Thanks for letting us know though!

All of that about supplies and such sounds good. Just posting in here to keep the story thread streamlined

Thanks Aegis. And I apologize for being slow. I will hopefully have a fairly substantial post up soon.

Also, which of the following would you guys prefer, going forward:

Option A): Your characters actively gather rumors and plot hooks by asking people, then decide for yourselves which to follow up on.

Option B): I just give give you a few selected rumors and plot hooks to push you toward certain dungeons and scenarios, with the option that you can reject those and look for other places to adventure if you don't like where things are going?

The module we're using is a huge sandbox that connects to half a dozen other modules, most of which I have or want to get anyway. It is built around the idea of option 1, but I recognize not everyone likes that style of play, so it is easily adaptable to option 2, where I just steer you guys to the major dungeons and adventures, and maybe give you some pointers to other mini dungeons/side quests along the way.

I would prefer option C) We get a solid starter mission (an assignment such as a paid mission to retrieve something like special reagents or some lost person or etc...) and while on that assignment we pick up leads on 2 or 3 other adventurers then we choose one and during that adventure we pick up 2 to 3 more leads to adventures. These adventures could be preset ones or ones that you have inspirationally made up on the fly, they do not all have to be complex dungeons or even dungeons just something that helps either immerse us more into the world/game or just something that furthers something one of has a particular interest in -- such as maybe a nice magic item or something or a magic items that have parts that have to be collected and assembled or suit of armor that functions better with the more pieces one is wearing. The possibilities are endless.

I like A.

But I’m with Dejoker for getting some good straightforward momentum going. Then after we know the characters a little better and the feel of the game, setting our own missions and investigations would be cool.

I do think we need some sort of push to get going.
