OOC:
No need to use the Triumph to get them to talk; that's a given, assuming you're all able to get this mask to stick. I think at this point we're just waiting on Hildar (?) to make a Stealth check vs. RP to dive behind you and Tronus.

As for Tronus drawing his sword and shield -- I think the nature of the mask you're under makes that hard to do. It's not a full Invisibility spell, so you'll need to remain still to remain camouflaged against the castle wall. But let's say you can try to draw your weapon for a Stealth check vs. RP + Blk?

That said, Nekurr's Triumph could be used to upgrade Hildar's Stealth check to hide, or Tronus's Stealth check to draw a weapon unnoticed. Or a narrative use, of course.

Here's where we are:

Hildar: Give me a Stealth check vs. RP + Blk, with a boost.

Tronus: Give me a Stealth check vs. RP + Blk to get either the sword or the shield out without breaking the mask. Or just wait to see what happens if you'd rather not try that.

Nekurr's Triumph can be used to upgrade either of these checks, or for a narrative use.

OOC:
I'll wait, and see what happens I guess.

Hildar throws up his spell and scrambles to try and hide behind the others……

Spending a SP on this…..

OOC:
OK, so here's their roll to see through the illusion. I'm using Nekurr's Triumph to upgrade the difficulty of the check, as it matches the intent of his spell to curse them. They're getting a boost from Hildar's Threat.
Hildar dives for cover behind Nekurr and Tronus, but his foot slips on Nekurr's playing card, sending it sliding back behind the masked investigators. Four burly-looking men, a mixture of Humans and Orcs, saunter into the corridor. "Hey, lookie lookie. Those ones got some sort of spell on 'em to look like the walls. That one's trying to hide. Guess they made us." You realize the jig is up. No use hiding now. "Come out, come out wherever you are..." You get the impression they mean business, but you're not particularly inclined to cooperate...
OOC:
They fail the Coercion check thanks to Nekurr's strong will and Tronus's surliness. So how do you want to spend their Despair and Threat?
OOC:
Edit: Adding a setback to the second roll to account for the threat on their Perception check. Also missed a purple.

Rolls

Perception

4 Success, 2 Advantage, 1 Failure, 3 Threat

Total: 3 Success, 1 Threat

Coercion

OOC:
if we're going into combat, could the despair/threats be something that gives them a permanent extra setback? maybe they see it is an illusion but it still works somehow or has a secondary effect?
Jul 15, 2021 11:25 am
OOC:
You're describing the Blur special effect for the Mask spell; it adds an automatic Threat to any combat checks targeting Tronus or Nekurr as long as Hildar maintains the spell. I'll allow that for the Despair for one of the two threats (this is a minion group and a Rival who acts alone).

That said, you're not in combat yet, so mcneils5 can make the call if he thinks that's likely.
Jul 15, 2021 12:52 pm
"They don't look proficient enough to have a bounty due to actual threat but I wouldn't put it past them to harass you two and strip you naked... Get behind me I'm likely not their type maybe we should just have them make an appointment with their manager for us to chew out..." Tornus comments not moving.
OOC:
Well since we're not in combat... Blows on the dice for Improved Scathing Tirade, I'll use a story point. I'm okay with the Threat being I am their type ;) heh. I'm tall, graveling, and supportive, like any good wall.

Hldar wouldn't jump straight to combat unless these guys are obviously hostile so he's just going to hold position at the moment

The Human flinches at Tronus's verbal onslaught. But then the Orcs surround you. "Oh, this one's got a tongue on him. What you boys hiding for? We ain't gonna hurt ya. There's rules in this castle, you know. We just got a message for ya. Whatever it is you're looking for in the tunnel, lay off and forget about it. Savvy?"

Hildar keeps his cool despite the looming figures around him. But they do sound serious. Violence is forbidden within the castle walls, as is offensive magic...
OOC:
Will use their 2 advantage to impose a setback on whatever check you all make next, as you're a bit shaken by this encounter.

Rolls

Coercion vs. Hildar (with boost from Tronus's threat)

2 Success, 3 Advantage, 2 Failure, 1 Threat

Total: 2 Advantage

"You all have no idea what might be down there from the way you talk and you're hired muscle not minds I take it... Rules don't apply to the undead and infernal still right?"

OOC:
LOL. Sure, for a Story Point, you recognize one. Or save the Story Point and try your luck on a roll: Formidable Knowledge (Geography): PPPPP, but with three boosts for your familiarity with the local gambling houses near the castle, and for Orcs being pretty rare in civilized lands. You can team up with Hildar on this; he's got 5 Intellect.
Jul 19, 2021 10:52 am
Nekurr nudges Hildar metagamingly saying "Hey elf, your geography books ever had that guy's pic?"
Jul 19, 2021 1:52 pm
OOC:
Feel free to roll it, CESN. Looks like Mcneils5 is going to be away for a few days.

Hildar's amazing knowledge pool is made available to cats

I added a B from Nekurr's help? Threat... we recognize him but he recognizes Nekurr?

Let's assume Hildar announces this out loud, as that would be necessary for him and Nekurr to collaborate on the check. Threat means they're leaving before you can pump any more information from them. Unless you want to attack them, that is.
Nekurr doesn't recognize the ruffians, but Hildar notices that they're all wearing maroon tunics under their cloaks—tunics that mark them as members of the court of Renash, the baron's son, who is ruling the barony in the baron's absence at the moment.

Hearing Hildar announce this fact, one of the men chuckles. "So maybe that'll tell you why you need to back off. The tunnel is going forward. So butt out."

They turn and seem to be preparing to scram.
Jul 22, 2021 1:12 am
"I heard the Baron's Son's men explain going forward with weeding out any a holes involved with the tunnels and the safety of the local populace..." Tronus states once the would be messengers leave.
Jul 22, 2021 7:44 am
"So..." Nekurr stares at Renash's man. "You're suggesting this mining operation is of vital importance to the Barony's economy?"
Jul 22, 2021 3:08 pm
The men don't respond; instead they just glower and disappear around a corner.
OOC:
Unless you pursue them, you're left alone in the corridor.

OOC:
I guess put my previous comment for after Nekurr asks his question and they go around the corner for context.
