Twilight 2000 4E

If you're interested I think I still have most of the original T2K suppliments. I worked in a hobby shop at the time when GDW was publishing them and I'm pretty sure I have maps for Krakow, the Vistula Corridor and Warsaw. It's weird to think that when I started playing that game 2000 was still 15 or 16 years out, the Cold War was still in full swing and those events were still kind of on the table.

Someone's had to back out so we have another place available. Just finishing character creation if anyone is interested.

What would you like to play? Currently the team are mostly Americans but there's plenty of scope to pick up whoever on the way.

Do you need some prior experience to play this? I've been kicking around the idea of buying this box set at my FLGS, but haven't yet. Wasn't sure if it would be something my group would play before I drop $60 on it...

Nope, we've got most of the rules in the thread now. Took us a while to get comfortable with them as they're quite crunchy, and we've made some house rules to facilitate PbP, but I'm happy talking you through it.

Yeah, I'd totally be down with trying. I tried reading 2.2 and 1 but it was a bit of a mess to grasp, but I've been listening to the New Game Who Dis show and they did an actual play and it seemed a lot less crunchy and more manageable.

Is there a medical sort around?

I had in mind a country-boy type who joined the military to get experience/funds to become an EMT while he went to medical school.

So a medic not directly military, but recalled when the war broke out.

Our medic had to pull out of the game.

Funnily enough our last medic had a similar career path in mind. That'll be fine if you use the Medic archetype, if you use the Lifepath approach there is no EMT civilian career and I suggested just using the combat medic career and handwaving it as civilian EMT for that term.

I haven't seen that, I must have a listen. I've been following the AARPG podcast although they're using the alpha rules I think.

It is definitely less crunchy than 1st/2nd edition (not sure about 3rd as I've never played it, though I do have a copy somewhere). However, for a Free League game it is still pretty crunchy, particularly combat. That slowed stuff down initially so we've made some house rules, particularly around coolness under fire.

So I'll invite Knighthawke and funfungiguy and close recruitment. Then we can discuss character creation in the game forum.

The new one is crunchy, but it's -- you know. Playable. =]
