I'll be a bit slow for a while - my Dad had a heart attack so I've been a bit distracted - I am around but won't necessarily be overly consistent currently.

Okay. I hope he is recovering well.

Guess what? We finished the first dungeon, and the first third of the Half Dead City, book 1 of the Mummy's Mask adventure path.

How do you all feel about continuing? We have several players that have been afk for a while and could recruit a replacement or two.

I will stay with the until the end. Let's recruit. This is life.

Isetret stands ready to continue as long as you want to continue to run for us. I'm in it for the long haul.
Jan 6, 2022 5:52 pm
I'm very interested in continuing to run it.

Definitely up to keep playing. Enjoying my sassy but currenttly useless cleric :p When the undead eventually start arriving, we'll be ready.

Assuming it's rolling hp?

Lootsplit, can't remember if broached subject befire. Would people prefer claiming stuff they want then everything else gets sold, and then the gold is split equally? Or for the gold to be split based on what was claimed. (Basically trieds to balance things a little fairer for builds that don't tend to claim much lootwise like casters. I also tend to use it in games where there are shy players who are worried to stake claims, though don't think we have that problem currenttly.)

I'm happy either way, or some random 3rd option. I am also happy to be loot consolidater, and equally happy for someone else to be/it to be shared.

I vote for people claiming stuff they want then everything else gets sold, and then the gold is split equally.

I'm glad to be along for the ride and am very interested to continue long term. Thanks for running it, Qralloq!

re: loot splitting, I have no strong opinions on this, but LoM if you want to be the sacrificial lamb loot consolidater, I'm good with that. I think the latter of the two options you presented is the more 'fair' route and would support that (you're right, it would be more fair to casters and such in the long run).

Your call. You can roll or take the average (a 5 on a 1d8, for example), but if you roll, you take what you get.

..Being sensible it is. While all for rolling normally not when I have no con or fcb health :P

The next section will be a little more RP before you return to the necropolis.

But we should talk about the pace of the game, and anything that isn't working as good as it can. Are there things we can tweak to improve it going forward?

Sounds great!

I'll give it some more thought, but one thing that might help is regarding traps.

If we set a marching order in these areas and set an expectation that Iseret is going to search for traps conditionally upon approaching any new area or interacting with any container for the first time, might we shift Trap Detection rolls to have the GM roll automatically? This would allow anyone to indicate where we're heading next, then the GM can respond with the approach and description of what happens without a pause to wait for a roll.

These trap-heavy areas can be rough, but so can real life. For PbP, gating party movement progression behind a single player can be detrimental to pacing and flow, though I understand this idea takes away some of WhtKnt's agency - if we have any disagreement there, I can understand and am happy to keep on as we are :)

Otherwise, I think pace has been decent overall on this game. I think it would benefit for sure from having at least 1 new active player aboard.

I agree with Cinder.

Are we going to wait for chunky04 to come back or are we going to open a Recruitment Thread before we continue with the dungeon crawl?

Chunky04 has been gone a long time. I'll post for a new player immediately.

Hello everyone! I'm the replacement guy. For those who don't know, I'm a complete beginner to Pathfinder. Currently I'm reading the rulebook and trying to understand how the game works, how can I build a character etc. I'll probably have some questions when I start building the character but at first a few preliminary questions:

1- How much time do I have? I see that there are already forty posts on part 2, so I'm assuming you have started playing the second part of the campaign. I don't want to interrupt the flow of the game so if there is even a loose limit I will comply with it.

2- In the game forums which threads you thinkI should read? It would be tedious and probably unnecessary to read all the posts but if you give me some initial info it would be great.

3- In the recruitment post I learned that the player I'm replacing was playing a wizard. Do I have to create a wizard (or arcane character in general) as well? How is the group dynamics right now? I think the character I'll create would fit better if I have a sense of how the adventure went, what is the relationship between characters in the group etc.

4- Lastly, I'll look into this campaign more but I have very little idea on the story. How will my character enter the campaign? Will we assume he was just there all along?

Any other additional info you can give me is appreciated :)

Bernard is a Old Scholar and Wizard. He lived a clustered live in Absolom university and is our employer. To be honest, he knows A LOT of stuff. He has a huge bonus in all the knowledge skills and is an expert in languages, but he isn't very useful in combat.

But in pathfinder knowledge can be used to discover a creature stats and vulnerabilities. This can be crucial in some combat situations.

But as we said in the recruitment post you don't need to build a full Arcane Caster. We can accommodate any char.

Hi Ireneoffunyes!

We're currently just chilling in a tavern after our first delve into a tomb, so I'd say you have time. I suspect this may also be a way you can join (though Qralloq may have a different plan). Right now we are one of several adventuring groups exploring the tombs of the city. The sites are being allocated by lottery. If Bernard announces he's leaving we'll likely just look for a new member, and your character could be looking for a group, having maybe been late arriving to the city so missed all the previous matching up.

Bernard arrives in Wati is a roleplaying thread of the group meeting up. You can see some of the character dynamics there, though not all the characters (Esme, Gethean Bernard and Herc.) Be warned there is a bit of a 'noodle incident' in there, however how the characters dealt with it afterward does again show off some personality.

The Lottery and Tomb of Aktentepi up to actually get into the tomb will give some background info, and more characterization. In the tomb is a lot more dungeon crawly and can possibly skipped

The current thread is more roleplaying, a bit of ethics discussion, and drinking.

A wizard isn't completely necessary. We do have some arcane casting in the more of Jaware. It could be useful, as could someone with knowledge skills as he was our knowledge guy. At the same time don't feel you have to be pushed into a role - there are other classes that can fill the knowledge gap (bard or skald for example) or we can just handle it as a group. (We already have a decent amount of religion which is the important one for undead)

We have:
Khadi (myself), a playful/mischievous/possibly annoying to some duskwalker Cleric of Khepri (Sun God of Labourers, with a mischievous streak), who while growing up around worshippers of Pharasma (Goddess of Life and Death, very anti undead), prefers to care for the individuals of the city, especially the workers. Feels its her destiny to fight and protect people from undead. She is very channel and healing focused, to the point she actually is more charisma focused than normal for a cleric (Who's casting stat is wisdom). She does have knowledge planes and religion, and is squishier than a wizard - Absolutely useless in combat at the moment bar healing, but should touchwood start to shine when undead show up, and when she gets even more healing capabilities. Also quite diplomatic due to her archetype.

The others may give better intros of their characters but -
Tabat (C1nder) - Paladin of Horus. Fights in melee, is a tank, can do extra stuff vs undead. Also good at diplomacy and knowledge religion.
Iseret (WhtKnt) - Rogue, finds our traps, also a frontline fighter, and skill monkey. (Not sure what skills)
Jaware (Surfer) - Magus archer. Shoots magic arrows, and has access to arcane spells, but not as well as a wizard/arcanist.

Group dynamic we are all still getting used to one another. Khadi and Tabat seem to start having some camaraderie due to both being followers of old sun gods.

Edit: Maybe worthwhile list knowledges (And others skills?) we already have to see if there are any gaps?
Khadi is Planes and Religion, other skills are heal and diplomacy

As they have said, fitting in a new character is easy. You're between "adventures", and you could jump in as a former acquaintance or a new one. Maybe you meant to him them for the first foray but were delayed.

Currently, the successful adventuring groups have gathered at a tavern to brag and lie. If you're looking for a team to join, it would be wise to go to such a gathering.

As to timing, I'd hope to move us on by next week.
