OOC:
If the gnoll in F11 is still alive after Krenmmuth's reaction and Scag's attack, then Krenmuth will attack with his war hammer. Otherwise, if the human is still alive (and assuming he can easily stop over the body of the dead gnoll in G11), Krenmuth will move to E14 and cast Thunderwave. Otherwise, he will cast Spare the Dying on the worker in F10.

Concerned for her companions slightly more than she is concerned about the approaching undead - priorities! - Melianne decides to not change an already working strategy, and continues channeling energy to heal Krenmuth while taunting the human mage. Maybe he'll get annoyed to distraction, enough for Korrin's shot to finish the job. She's not usually that bloodthirsty, but he did already spill plenty of blood himself...
OOC:
Healing Word -> Krenmuth.
Vicious Mockery -> Human.

Scags fells the gnoll who was attacking Krenmuth with a strike of his mighty halberd.
Krenmuth steps over the fallen gnoll and runs towards the human

Melianne yells some more insults at the human. This is enough distraction so that Korrin's arrow hits him in the neck. Just as his eyes widen in shock a large thunder emanates from Krenmuth who positioned himself in front of the mysterious human and banged his shield.

The thunder sends the human flying away like a ragdoll. His lifeless body lands on the ground a few feet back. The gnoll with the bow is blasted away too but the it is still alive. It let's out a terrified yell and runs away.

You don't have much time to celebrate your success though as four skeletons come at you from behind. They are wearing scraps of brass armor as well as brass spears. They don't seem to be too tough but their spears look pointy
OOC:

You can all act before the skeletons

Sardonius, was breathing heavily after the encounter with the human and his gnolls.

Yep, I think I'm getting too old for this.

Somewhere at the back of his mind, a part of him is chiding him for showing weakness. He silently chastises and reminded himself that he was the one who came up with this notion of ''adventuring'' when he was comfortable in his retirement back in Chessenta.

By the Red Lady...give me strength...

As he turned around to congratulate Krenmuth and the other adventurers with him who had accosted themselves passably, he saw a new threat emerging over the rise which they came from. Undead soldiers wearing brass armor and weapons are now bearing upon them.

Where did these come from? Is the camp overrun? Is this all a decoy?

Questions to be answered at another time. right now, more killing...well, they're already dead but that's beside the point...

Sardonius shook his head of useless thoughts, heaved his halberd, and ran to a position where he could intercept as much of the skeletal force facing them and then going as quickly as possible back to camp.

One threat gone and new having just arrived, Melianne sighs as she turns to watch the walking beings of bone stumble toward them, spears on the ready. She can't find in herself to be fazed, adrenaline from the battle singing loudly in her blood, and simply focuses on the power of her voice while pulling back towards her companions.

It is not even insults anymore - with skeletons having no organs to listen with and no brains to speak of to comprehend, words won't make a difference anyway, - but more of a loud screech of an angry bird, infused with the same not-quite-magic that drives her music.
OOC:
I'm out of spell slots, so cantrip time!
Vicious Mockery -> Skeleton on A1 (or K1, if Annika dispatches this one).
Move to F8.

Rolls

Vicious Mockery (psychic damage) - (1d4)

(4) = 4

The lone skeleton that appeared left of the rock runs towards Melianne but the combination of Annika's eldritch blast and Melianne's mockery makes its head explode and it drops dead (again)

Sardonius meanwhile runs towards the three skeletons that appeared right of the rock. The thrust their spears at the mighty fighter and while Sardonius can evade one of them the other two hit him, piercing his armor.
To your right you can see that Korsak and his fellows beat back the gnolls as well. While they run back towards the camp Korask calls over to you: Destroy these skeletons, we'll protect the camp meanwhile
In the background you can see how Rada and Raskell chop a skeleton into pieces and in general they seem to handle their share of boney adversaries pretty well.
OOC:

Sardonius takes 11 damage from the skeletons

You can all act again.

@Korrin Just to be clear, the last gnoll ran away so none of the original attackers is left only the newly arrived skeletons. If you want to you can adjust your position accordingly

Loath as she is to get closer to the undead horrors, Annika can see that Sardonius is hard-pressed. She advances to put herself between the skeletons and Melianne, hurling curses and blasts.

Seeing Annika move closer, Melianne follows after her - keeping further distance from the skeletons than the warlock lady, but approaching them nonetheless. She continues raining her psychic attacks upon the undead, and even prepares to draw her rapier in case things get tricky.

Krenmuth moves forward with a roar, "Scags, fall back! I'm behind you. I got them!" He stares on the skeletons, raises his holy symbol high above his head, and continues yelling. "You should not be here. This world is no longer yours. Your presence only causes pain and suffering. Begone to your resting place!"
OOC:
Move: To M7
Action: Turn Undead
Oct 5, 2021 6:58 am
Sardonius was profusely bleeding from many wounds in trying to hold off the advancing skeletons. When Krenmuth came to his side he had a sense of relief.

Finally someone here has taken the hint! don't let them corner you!

I'm not gonna die here just yet...

Twirling his halberd more to distract the cadaver soldiers than to deal any damage to give him enough time to disengage and reposition, Sardonius moved toward the mound/cliff.

Annika's eldritch blast completely destroys another skeleton, showering the battle field in bone fragments.

While Melianne does her best to do damage to the skeletons and Korrin heals Scags the skeletons raise their spears again in order to attack.
But just in this moment Krenmuth dashes forward with his holy symbol.
The skeletons drop their jaws, turn around and run away.

Just as you think about pursuing them you can see that your friends that stayed at the camp fought back their share of enemies.
The two skeletons run into their midst and are quickly shattered by the combined attacks of Raskell, Rada and Solra.

Combat is over! Great work everyone!

No more skeletons, gnolls or any other enemies are to be seen. Korsak strides over to you, droplets of sweat shimmering on his forehead.
This was... most unfortunate. We already fought off some attacks of those natives but never something on this scale. And these skeletons... they came from... hmmm
Korsak scratches his chin and looks at the camp then back at you.
I will perform some investigations. Please meet me at my office at sunset
With these words he starts to go back to the camp but then he stops in his tracks
And before I forget: You have proven your good intentions. You and your people are welcome to stay here and roam freely. We will erect some more tents and I will request additional supplies. Please accept my heartfelt gratitude.
Korsak makes a small bow and returns to the camp

If you decide to search the fallen enemies you find the following things:
The human carries a pouch with various local herbs and plants as well an jade amulet (worth 5gp) that features a triskelion.

One of the gnolls has a belt pouch containing 25 gp.

The skeletons wear scraps of chain armor and have spears that although pointy don't seem to be special

If you want to do anything in the camp you are free to do so, otherwise I'll move us to the meeting in Korsak's office at dusk

Rolls

Saving throw against 'turn undead' - (1d20-1)

(8) - 1 = 7

Oct 7, 2021 6:28 am
Krenmuth says nothing while his adrenaline rush dissipates. While investigating the battlefield, he says to Annika, Korrin, and Melianne, "Thank you. Without your help and that of your companions, the raiding party could have bested us this time. I will thank Valkur properly in my evening prayers."

Krenmuth examines the treskelion on the jade amulet. "I want none of their ill-gotten coins. This amulet may even be tainted."
OOC:
Does Krenmuth recognize the treskelion as a symbol to any deity he knows? Also, is it too late to cast Spare the Dying on the fallen workers?

Rolls

Trying to recognize the treskilion symbol (Religion) - (1d20+2)

(3) + 2 = 5

Oct 7, 2021 7:12 am
"This time?" Annika raises an eyebrow. "How often do attacks like this happen here?"
Oct 7, 2021 6:37 pm
OOC:
@Scrol, that is a good question for which I don't have an accurate answer.
