"What do you think? I don't like resorting to violence as a first recourse, but the messengers made it sound like their leaders weren't interested in compromise. We can try to take them by surprise, or make ourselves known and see if they'll talk." She looked from one face to the next, her own countenance heavy with concern.
"If they run, they'll likely head into the mine."
"That is a risk," she agreed. "They may spot us all once one of us speaks up, no matter how well the rest try to hide. So."
She paused, and meet the glance of each one present.
"I would hate to see any of you hurt when we could have prevented it, but that's a concern no matter which way we decide," she said, looking towards Narissa at the last.
"I vote we surprise them and try to subdue them. We don't need to make things lethal unless they leave us no choice. What do the rest of you say?"
"If we circle the clearing and come in from different directions that will likely add to the confusion." She points towards an area not far away.
"I can toss an ice knife at them when I get closer, that’ll be your signals to attack." She looks at the others, "Does that sound reasonable?"

Apparently spotting the attack as it approaches, the woman waves her hand and the ice knife shatters in the air right in front of her , showering her, the fey leader and one of the messengers in tiny ice shards, that don't seem to do much damage, however.

The group of messengers you had been following reacts quickest and the rider and the one on foot that got hit by some of the ice splinter charge towards Narissa. The rider doesn't quite make it to her and throws its dagger at Narissa. The other moves up right next to her and tries to stab her with his dagger.
The third one just glares at Narissa and she suddenly feels her blood burning in her veins, making movement painful and slow.

The elven woman points at Narissa and shouts something at her in the strange sounding language that she and the fey were communicating in before. Narissa can't understand her but she still feels hurt by the words as they are clearly insulting.
The group of fey approach Narissa but don't attack her yet.
Arphaxad runs up to the closest of the fey and swings his axe at it. The weapon sinks deep into the creature and for a moment, it looks like he might stay on his feet but then he collapses, lying unmovingly on the floor as its blood drains into the ground around it.
