As for preparation, she has little to do. She says to the young girl, touching her hair, "Stay close. This may be a ruse to separate us."
"It's about time we get to the foyer. I'm not counting on this person's word, so we better stay vigilant all along the way."
He pauses a bit, trying to find the appropriate words but he shakes his head;
"I'm no leader... And speeches aren't my thing. I'll try to have all of your backs, so feel free to return the favor, a'ight?"
He gives them a crooked smile as they get moving.
You will be perched up high, and will tell me if the enemy hides, where he hides. Looks for secret doors he may disappear into. Understood? he says telepathically to the robin, gently stroking his wings.
"Your back is quite protected." Gregory taps Inquisitor's back, gently banging the metal underneath the duster "You give speech before battle, you die a war hero. Better no speech and survive as a war nobody, yes?" he sips from a flask and follows the others in the foyer, senses alert for an ambush as they get close.
As you all take up combat stances and positions he says.
"Good to see you didn’t chicken out. I’ll enjoy the meals you’ll provide me so let’s just get started."
He takes out a bloody coin.
"When the coin hits the floor we start. Do try to give me a challenge, a good meal tastes better when you have to work for it."
He flicks the coin into the air, and grabs the red orb from his pocket.

He is not used to run head first into battle. He likes to study the situation. But hey, maybe he gets a lucky shot. He draws his pistol and shoots at the arm holding the orb, ready to sprint should he get lucky.
If by any chance I get lucky and hit, I would like to move and Cunning Action the orb far away, like kicking it or something.
