Dotty raises an eyebrow, "That wasn't a subtle veiled threat, I was merely pointing out the truth, you don't want guys like this to know you're looking at them." She lets out a breath, "I hate violence, I dislike guns, being shot at or stabbed or anything like that. It makes me disagreeable."

The young woman looks at the female agent, "I'm gonna needs to talk to Astrid before I commits to anything."

Finally getting a chance to answer Ingrid's question Garret grinned, looking directly at her. "Oh I'm a ghost walking. Garret Tyrzsen, you uh... won't find me in there, I was a citizen of Sector XVII long before electricity was common place." He added after noting she was still trying to place him.

Garret didn't have the inclination to argue the definition of a veiled threat. Instead he turned to the Ingrid. His admiration and respect genuine, unlike her partner she didn't talk to hear the sound of her own voice. "Listen, Ingrid right?I'm not going to just sit around and wait while terrorists are blowing up critical infrastructure. Sycorax II or not you can contact me to help. I helped build the backbone of this sector and I'm not going to let some dickheads ruin my legacy because they want to play thronemaker. I'm ready to get to work overhauling that ship right away. I don't need the credits but I could do with one of those spiffy machine pistols your attachÄ— are carrying."

Garret took an old plastic identcard from a pocket inside his Overalls. It marked him as a citizen of the American Resource Conglomerate, a dead empire, long dead. He waved it by the File transfer port on Ingrid's PDA. "Relax it's legit. Check my file, I am not boasting when I say I'm the best fire control specialist in the sector, you can count on it, and my nephew can verify it." Garret kept nodding to Eddie when he referred to his nephew, although he looked almost twenty years younger than Eddie. "Here's a DNA sample just in case you are feeling paranoid." Garret plucked one of his hairs and with a roll of tape produced from his pocket gave it, and his thumbprint. "Good Barter?" He inquired as he waited for Ingrid to respond, extending his hand to shake, an archaic gesture. He was a walking, breathing anachronism.

Ingrid and her partner take a step back and place their hand at their hip as Garret approaches them.
Ingrid acknowledges Garret's ID card and answers to the discussion:
Well I think there will be situations where subterfuge is more important than violence but also you should prepared to be able to dish out some damage should the need arise. I will write down a number of shops where you can buy some ordnance

And of course you will get your promised pay along with a hazard pay. Let's say.... ermmmm... 9000 credits? I think that's fair!
Eddie says and uses his PDA to transfer the funds to your accounts
Well I think our business here is concluded here for the time being he adds
I guess there are some places you want to check out here. Maybe you'll find something else to do there.

Anyways Ingrid interjects The Sycorax II is still technicaly sector government property so if you want to use her you have to agree to help us. We won't be constricting on your business:If you agree to work with us you can do so freely but you have to repair the ship. Mr. Eddie gave the ship to you in a blatant display of disregard for your safety. You can overhaul it on the government's cost in the "FJ shipyard" just a short jump from here. Minor repairs could be done here but a whole section of the armor is missing and we can't repair this here on West V. You'll need a shipyard for this

The other agent, Igumeda, adds in a dark voice If you are interested in taking up our offer, please feel free to contact us. As said: Our focus is on catching the ones who build their private army in the shadows. Whatever you do to achieve this goal is none of our business.

With these final words the agents leave.
OOC:
You all have +9000 funds

There is a window of three rounds/posts for each of you to conclude your private business. Each round encompasses where you go and what you do.
Buying things from the shops detailed here is a free action in this regard.

Maybe you just want to fool around, maybe you want to to get something done. Nevertheless I'll expect a post from each of you on which I'll repsond. After three posts from each of you I'll continue. Each action may or may not included a roll of a specific kind. If a roll is needed I'll inform

Garret strode into Randy's like he owned the place taking a seat in the lobby, he carried a Water Bottle and a stack of laminated purple official looking documents.

He read through the physical manifest and signed orders clearing him for purchasing equipment through sector authorities dime. Carrying a Series 51 pen, polonium tipped, filled with slightly irradiated green ink. It marked the plastic laminates with his signature much like a permanent marker would.

He waved to Randy's assistant. "Let the Lady know I'm here."

Garret needed no introduction, he had been a customer for longer than the current owner had been alive. The size of this order he wondered if Randy's could handle.

"... hundred fifty thousand, six point eight millimeter caseless... Tyrfing point defense cannon, 800 rounds per second! That's almost excessive. MA-211 MASER?Where's the EVA suits? Oh I'm sure they'll pick the tab up if I send them the bill."

Garret was getting agitated, paperwork was the worst contrivance in the universe. He growled, loudly and punched the bulkhead it rang, loudly. It obviously hurt as Garret howled and kissed his knuckles. Bit his thumb and got back to signing papers with the opposite hand. He was signing it E. T. in his left hand.

Forgetting the injury in his right hand Garret grabbed the enormous steel airtight canister that he used as a water bottle. Twisting the plastic valve off he sipped from it, he didn't spill a drop though the mouthpiece was about thirty percent larger than his own.

He looked up from his list wondering if he should charge the sector authority for them, but figured he'd be satisfied better owning and maintaining his own equipment. Plus, it was going to be a full time job cleaning them if the enemy was anywhere near as dangerous as hinted.

Garret looked up from his list, slowly totalling the purchases. 2315, plus tip would make it 2600 credits. Reaching into his pocket he pulled open a stack of C-notes, counting out twenty six crisp promissory notes. Tucking them into his overalls he stashed the billfold in his pack and looked up to see Mrs. Randy. Coming from inside their offices. "Nadine." Garret said flashing a toothy grin, unable to keep his eyes off the stark beauty that ran Randy's. He wondered if it was plastic surgery or genes that made her look that irresistible, deciding he'd rather it be forever mysterious. Having known her, her entire life Garret didn't hesitate to give her a hug. An incredibly rare gesture of affection from the Garret who had shunned physical contact since birth. "Great, pleasure to meet you as always. Listen there's a bunch of bullshit here from Sector Authority, I'm starving and I hear Magokoro has Fresh Fish down in the Dragon Markets. Treat me to lunch?" Garret could barely contain how excited he was at the size of the score. "They want you to send five of these to the Shipyard for fitting on their new warship. I'm doing the fit! Garret was bouncing with excitement as he handed the purchase form for the Tyrfing Point Defense Cannon. "Shipping out tomorrow and gotta get some stuff for the party I'm throwing tonight. Would love to have your company. Other than that, here's my shopping list and 2600 cold credits. I'll need everything on this list shipped to the Sycorax II, except the Laster Pistol and leather jacket, I'm walking out of here with those. I just, can't let you be the only one walking around with one. I've been thinking about Lucille since I last saw you! Apologies I'm just excited. How are you?"

ChiHiRu was happy. In his short time working with the Sycorax crew, he had not only learned many new things and protected a colony ; he also was given more credits than his last contract was worth AND be hired to protect a whole sector. He definitely was growing up in the world.

Since the others had some things to do before leaving again, ChiHiRu decided to take some time and visit the city. He wandered around for a while, looking at people interacting and shops offering various wares.

He will be drawn to a shop where he will be delighted to find various options of tobacos to try for his electronic cigaret. He refill is stocks both in quantity and variety.

He will also spend some some time at Randy's Military equipment where he will inquire at the cost to adapt a plasteel vest to go under his Woven metal fabric vest for added protection. There was a distinct possibility of being shot at repeatedly in the future and ChiHiRu preferred to have a long summer ahead of him. There was just so many things to learn and so many people to meet.
OOC:
So, I'd like to check the price and mechanics of Combining Protective Gear as p.106 of Rulebook. From what I read, i could combine the 2 armor for 2d6+2 protection at the cost of +4 diff on agi test.

Garret had the color of his shirt strobe when he noted ChiHiRu had entered. It alternated between a calm infrared and excited ultramarine color. Indicating he was relaxed, but also agitated.

"Tide is low, are you enjoying fair swimming?"

He signed to ChiHiRu using the his fingers and thumbs much in the same manner ChiHiRu's tentacles subtly flexed. Garret's sign was unrefined, without subtlety or nuance, but he very clearly understood the light patterns and gestures of Vendendrian communication.

Dotty picks up her bags and walks anxiously out of Eddie's place, Ingrid and Igumeda, she repeats the names over and over in her mind as she walks back towards L'Aura. Ingrid and Igumeda. Her cred stick feels heavier in her pocket even though she knows it can't possibly be. 9000 creds! She's never had that much money in her hands at one time before, Well no that's not true. As she remembers her eyes and skin begins to ache.

She squeezes through the last few passages and down the delivery corridor towards the back entrance to L'Aura. Moses, an oversized man in a tailored black suit with a bald head, tan skin and blue eyes looks towards her and grins. "Dot! You been gone a long time sweet pea, I was getting worried about you."

Dorothea grins extending a gloved fist which he happily bumps, "Astrid sent me away to do a job, but something else came up, something important, is she in?" The tone in her voice becomes more serious.

Moses nods, "She's in her office."

"Thanks Moses." Dotty says with a smile before heading inside. "Be safe."

"You too Dot, you too." Moses closes the door behind her and locks it so that no one else can get in.

Dotty heads through the back stage area returning the dresses she borrowed and the jewelry with a sigh, she'd really wanted to have a fancy dress night but that never panned out. When she's done putting all the things she borrowed away she makes her way upstairs to Astrid's office. She can hear voices inside, Astrid's on a call with someone, someone unimportant or she'd have shielded the office. Dotty waits patiently in the hall until the conversation comes to an end and the door slides open on it's own.

Astrid looks over at her from behind her desk and smiles. "Dorothea," there's a hint of disappointment in Astrid's voice, "I was expecting you an hour ago."

"Eddie kidnapped me." Dorothea replies, "I was coming straight here ma'am but his men picked us up as we, as we ..." Oh crud, there was a long word she wanted to use that just wasn't coming into her brain. "... as we got off the ship."

Astrid nods, "Not unexpected." She gets up and pours herself a tumbler of translucent brown liqueur from a glass decanter. "Sit!" Astrid commands pointing to a chair, "Tell me what you learned Dorothea."

Dotty sits and begins to spin the tale of their trip to the purple planet, of the crashed pirate ship and the launch they had to destroy. The information she recovered from the ship and the pirates themselves, the alien and the scientist it took with it and the offer delivered to her by Eddie and the two government agents Ingrid and Igumeda. Astrid listens patiently asking questions when things require clarification and subtly nudging Dot's retelling of the adventure in directions she feels are important until she finally ends at the point where they want her help looking for a secret private army.

When she's done Dotty picks up her bag and puts it in her lap opening it up and beginning to carefully unwrap the handful of artifacts she lifted from the dig site for Astrid. "I thought these were pretty ma'am and they looked intact and valuable."
