Str+2, Sta+1. Background was going to be charlatan, but I dump statted int, so I'll repick. Leaning toward Sailor, which appeals to me.

Gazam Deadwolf was a sailor in the Horde navy, running the coastal run Orgrimmar to Ratchet, aboard the Felhammer. After a raid ("work complete"), when he returned to his clan farmland, the place had been raided and torched. He blamed the alliance, even though most told him it was likely centaurs.

He ran off and joined the Burning Blade in Skull Rock. After his initial trials and training, he fled because they were uninterested in assisting his revenge against either the alliance or the centaurs.

Ok, but I wouldn't say you necessarily need INT to be a Charlatan. Charisma's where it's at! Smooth talk them into whatever you want.

I was thinking of an undead tinkerer. A human in life he found he had a knack for rebuilding the machines his small village needed to survive another winter. Sadly, he no sooner began studying in earnest than the plague struck him down. Upon rising again, his skills were noted and put to work building war machines.
If that's a valid combo, if not I'll happily come up with something else

Sounds good, Ceadron. The transformation to undead certainly twists things so I like the change from machines for survival to war machines. Have you looked over the rules for tinkering/engineering/etc? I admit I glazed over them, but I will certainly study them now. Something that's always bugged me about crafting in D&D is how long it takes. I understand it's more realistic, but this is a game for crying out loud! I'll be tweaking crafting times for sure. As for you background, I'm gonna guess something like ... guild artisan? Might take some tweaking, but it sounds like a possibility. But hey, pick what you want. I like that the background is like who you were/what you did before your current class.

I haven't done more than skim them yet. But my main was an engineer back in vanilla, so i felt that I should continue the torch

Haha! Sounds good. Engineering can be so expensive in WoW! When you get that all figured out, let us know.

Since it's such a recent event, what about everyone include what they did during the Third War. Humans ad Orcs might be young enough that they weren't doing much but growing up during that time, but that war only ended a few years ago and lasted a couple years. Certainly older lived races such as the elves, dwarves, gnomes, etc., remember it well.

Also, mrnemo636, since you mentioned Troll priest, I thought about the Loa they worship. Thought you might like this: http://wow.gamepedia.com/Loa

Well, looks like Shadow priest it is! Thanks, xjremon, for making my mind up for me, haha! I certainly don't mind a 2nd Priest, although if you're leaning more toward the dwarf, go for it. I'm sticking with Shadow. Thanks for the link, unique_exemplar! I've been trying to read up on lore and what little of Zandali I can find, so I'll be sure to include this. I started my character yesterday, but backstory and actual character stuff is my weak point. I takes me forever to come up with stuff. I've got a few ideas and should be able to finalize everything and submit a character sheet tomorrow, assuming I can get my starting weapons to actually save...

I've looked over the RPG docs a few times, but can't seem to find an answer. As a 1st level priest, it appears that I have access to 1st level spells, but how many? I know I get 3 cantrips. Does it go off of the D&D Cleric class table?

Here is what it states: "Each priest level provides you with 1 caster level in the priest class. You follow the normal progression to unlock spell levels (see the table under the Mana section). You prepare the list of priest spells that are available for you to cast, choosing from the priest spell list. You can also change your list of prepared spells by spending an hour in meditation and prayer."

Oops! Thanks for pointing that out, mrnemo636. D&D 5e rules say the number of known spells for divine spellcasters is your class level + spellcasting ability modifier. Let's go with that. When I changed the mana system, I must have forgotten that part. If you'd like any help with character backstory, send me a PM with what you have so far - even if it's just a loose concept. This goes to everyone. Backstory is something I've learned to love making.

I'm planning on going arcane Mage.

My character will be from Quel'Danas, a young acolyte of the sun well during the 3rd War. She survived the scourge invasion as she was visiting in Dalaran at the time. She returned to Quel'Thalas in the same party as Prince Kael'thas Sunstrider, and was shocked by the destruction she beheld and the longing of the withdrawal.

She was not amongst those who journeyed through the dark portal, instead remaining to try and help rebuild her shattered homeland.

I'm thinking Meridia Highstrider as a name.

Fantastic! Since you are playing a Blood Elf, let's talk about withdrawal. If you want, we can use withdrawal mechanics. If not, the daily struggle of being without the Sunwell can be purely RP. I don't want it to be a punishment for picking your race.
Since we're on the subject, arcane casters, do we want to include arcane corruption? There are some hefty rules from the 3e Warcraft RPG that if we decide to use, I will tone down. Thoughts?
May 24, 2016 11:22 am
Oh I read the withdrawal rules and it's go. There will also be some heavy to involved, I plan to have had Meridia almost become wretched, before clawing it back from the brink. She's now very careful about not relapsing again...

I would be willing to use the rules (or preferably some addaptation of them) for arcane corruption, but only if the other arcs it's are ok with that.
May 24, 2016 11:26 am
Awesome! I love that you're embracing that part of playing the character. Qralloq is the only other arcane caster (Warlock) that I know of.
May 24, 2016 1:20 pm
I love the sound of arcane corruption, so bring it on!

Hey guys, what other documentation/reference material are you using for character creation, background information, etc.? I don't have either the D&D 5e books (will try to find one online tonight) or the WoW RPG book. Also, worst of all, my company blocks any file-sharing sites such as the Google Drive links shared by unique_exemplar for those two resources.

Besides the 5e player's handbook, I put the links to the OGL and WoW RPG conversion on the game page. That's all I can think if you'll need. I've looked, but there doesn't seem to be much PhB material online. I'll send whatever you need.

Also, I've finally decided to play as Dormir Emberheart, protector of many, son of Theramir Emberheart, associate smithy of the Ironforge Metallurgy League, son of Malduin Emberheart, high priest of the Seven Sorrows; dwarven protection warrior (as if you hadn't caught on already).

Nice lineage. I noticed you pick the Folk Hero background. Wanna tell us more about his backstory?
Also, once everyone has their characters written out, let me know if you have any preference for how your solo thread will start.

Do you want us to roll up stats, or can I point buy?
