Chapter 4 - Raxus Prime

Raxus Prime -

Widely regarded as "the most toxic planet in the galaxy". Raxus Prime is covered in mountains of industrial waste, obsolete technology, starship wreckage, and the remains of centuries of unregulated manufacturing. The planet function's as a poisonous industrial scrap heap.

After 24 hours in the cramped ship, you emerge from Hyperspace outside of Raxus Prime. The orange-brown world hangs in the distance. Between your eyes and the scanners, you can tell there are a lot of ships moving into and out of this system.

As your taking in the information, your Comms beep. It's Dancy, "Glad to see you made it. We're going to start our way through the crowd and we'll meet at the Coordinates Reom gave us. Just a heads up, this is officially an Imperial controlled world, but you can see by the traffic, they are spread pretty thin. "

And it's not a minute later when the Comms beep again "Newly arrived vessel, This is Raxus Prime control please identify yourself and provide your destination, length of stay, and type of scrap or trash to be dropped, and transmit your access permit for Raxus Prime. Over."

The voice sounds bored and has probably repeated that message a hundred times this shift. But he is waiting for a response ...

AD-hoc makes sure the comm is off before asking; 'Did Reom provide a cover story and permit for us? If not, we will have to get creative.'

Do we have any permits? The vessel should be registered but I don't know if we need to spoof our ID after events on the Wheel and if the Imperials saw us back on Cholganna, although we're on the bounty hunter ship so it might not have the red flags that the other vessel might trigger. Could we call Dancy and check with her? Ken is going to try and sweet talk them into letting him through, his Charm and Deception are basically the same and I'll chuck in the default PP.
'Greetings Raxus Prime Control. This is the {crkkk}. Always happy to hear a friendly voice out here in the stars. We're hauling electronics waste to {crkkk} and we'll be on your beautiful world as short a time as possible to make the drop, twenty four hours should do it. Your assistance in facilitating a speedy transfer is much appreciated. We received some minor damage from collision with space debris so our comms array is a bi...{crkk} so please bear with me. I'm transmitting our access permit now...'

He turns off the comms.

'Right, we need a cover story and some permits. Let's call Dancy and see if she can sort us out. Sounds like they got through. I'm not sure if these guys are going to be receptive to my particular brand of charming.'

You do not have permits, your going to a secret illegal base on the planet. Here's a recap of the mission from, geeze, January I guess :)

"At a minimum, I want you to find the ship, assess its condition, and bring back all the information you can to our secret salvaging base on Raxus Prime."

The coordinates you were given do include a route through the mountains of trash that cover the world.

Pergano smiles at the Rodian before leaning over to his droid friend...Ad-Hoc, do scans indicate any imperial ships set to intercept at this time? I am wondering if we can slip into the heavy traffic and get lost in the crowd before we head to Reom. If they are spread thin, they might only be monitoring incoming traffic and not planetside.

AD-hoc activates the sensors and scans the surrounding space, there are indeed a lot of ships moving to and from the planet. The nearest Imperial ship is at least 15 minutes away and they are not heading in your direction. ( Yet ) Pergano is pretty sure he can make atmosphere before anyone could catch them. Once planetside, there are literal mountains of scrap that make an insane network of canyons. Double checking the information Reom provided, Pergano can see that the final approach route to the 'secret' base winds through several kilometers of these canyons.

Pergano flows through the traffic "flying casual" as best he can sticking to the heavy traffic lanes as best he can, taking the long route if needed. Hitting the comms he hails the main cabin We should be at the rendezvous soon. Doctor, could you make sure our guests are all in top shape on the approach?

Pergano accelerates into the cloud of ships, the Comms echo with the disbelief of the Imperial official. "Hey, stop where you are, you can't approach without permits." AD-hoc watches the sensors and can tell there's no way the System patrol ship will reach them before they make atmosphere.

As your ship drops toward the surface, you see an unending wasteland of wreckage. The junk piles and trash create their own landscape of winding canyons and lakes of sickening sludge. Building sized recycling droids walk the piles, using massive claws to feed their fiery onboard smelters. A haze of hazardous gas covers much of the area, its color changing with the leaking chemicals around it.

Suddenly, your ship’s proximity alert sounds as four small ships appear on your scopes. They're fast, highly maneuverable, and flying in pairs.

Ken laughs as Pergano plunges them into the traffic. 'Sorry guys, you're breaking up. Please go and {crrk} yourselves...'

Looking at the scopes from the gun turret he curses, 'Are those TIEs on our tail?'

Pergano slowly accelerates the ship and weaves in and out of traffic and junk piles methodically trying to move forward and away from the pursuers. Then suddenly he hits the comms and says Hold on to your asteroid belts ladies and gentlemen, this is going to be fun. All at once he sees an opening in the trash piles and his hands go whirling over the controls hitting the accelerator as best he can.

Trying to find the ship specs to see exact cost but I am looking to do a Full Throttle manuever and then Punch it to max speed if successful. Suffering 1 strain to make it a average check.

Full Throttle would increase max speed by 3, "Punch it" manuever would increase our to max speed suffering 1 system strain per speed increase....gonna be a bumpy ride

After doing the rounds, Foess reports that everyone is in as good a shape as can be expected.

Raxus Prime, eh? Now that is one Byzantine world my friends. I've heard some stories about this place... what did you say his name is, Reom?

Quick recap for your "map", None of the system craft were able to catch you, and you made it into the atmosphere. As you dove down toward the planet surface, 2 pairs of TIEs that had been alerted to your approach were able to pick you up.

Xelforp - Knowledge (Outer Rim) would be for General info on the Planet. Knowledge (Underworld) is perfect for info on Reom, or for underworld activities on Raxus Prime. Reom doesn't ring a bell, (first name would be to obscure without more context), but Raxus Prime, being a junk world is a resource for Scrappers and you've heard some groups have bases where they sort the scrap and steal good bits for resale.

Reminder - GP dice roller never counts the Triumph as a success, even though it's both. So Pergano's roll ended with 1 success and 1 Triumph.

And now we're into Chase/combat. Since it's two groups, it will be You (everyone on the ship) and them. For my logic sake, let's do

You all feel the sudden acceleration as Pergano pours on the throttle. Those of you with a view to the outside see the toxic Yellow-brown landscape and piles of trash rush up around you. One pair of the tie fighters seems to be making an attempt to follow you.

Looking at the scanners Ken sees the two pairs of ships accelerate and manouvre as only Imperial TIE fighters can.

'Chuba! I knew they were TIEs.'

He swings the twin laser cannons towards the nearest pair, blasting across them in the hope of hitting them and diverting them off course.

I see we have Dorsal and Ventral Turret-Mounted Twin Medium Laser Cannons
(Fire Arc All; Damage 6; Critical 3; Range (Close); Linked 1).
Does that mean we can have two gunners? Also, are we in range?

I'm gonna roll for Gunnery, take my Blue for Quick Strike and another for Aim. I'll take some strain to Aim a second time. Silhouette wise I think it is 2P but not sure about speed and everything.

Depending on the other modifiers - not crit but I could trigger a second hit with the linked cannon

AD-hoc focuses the scanners forward and manages to get a fairly accurate reading on the next few kilometers of the debris canyons. Which he passes to Pergano's heads up display.

Ken spins the dorsal cannons around and opens up a volley of fire toward the lead tie fighter. Two bolts slam square into the cockpit creating an explosion and the rest of the TIE falls away to the waiting junk pile below.

Pergano has a Boost die from AD-hoc's scans.

Ken - yes, there is a Ventral gun so you can have 2 gunners. I went with the linked fire option you suggested.

That is the general thought I was having. Using the environment to the advantage of some kind, I guess since it is a triumph, more than just a set back for a turn but not a "kill them" roll.

also there was the question on the speed we were going...we are going very fast after my roll.

You can definetly cause an environmental effect that gives them a more difficult check to keep up with you. You are going full speed and have a little lead on the TIEs, but they are overall faster and would catch you eventually, unless you lose them...

Whooping as his cannon fire destroys the lead TIE fighter, Ken shouts into the comlink, 'Someone get onto the ventral cannons now, one down and plenty more to go.'

I can't say I'm much of a gunner. But I do know how to give shots, maybe that will help!

Foess climbs into the ventral cannon seat and tries to familiarise himself with the controls.

Xelforp - It'll be 2 Purple with the possibility of boost or setback dice depending on what's going on at the moment.
As the first TIE explodes, Pergano rockets into the canyon of debris. His first turn is so tight that the thrust from the ship causes a debris avalanche behind them showering into the path of the second Tie fighter. The Tie jukes hard but is unable to avoid the debris, he disappears under the crushing weight of the scrap metal.

You've bought yourselves a breath as it'll take a few seconds for the second pair of TIEs to find their way down to you.

Ok, same order as last time. Pergano, your difficulty is based on speed and ship silhouette. So it'll be 3 Purple and 2 Red. You have 1 boost for AD-hoc's scan's and 1 boost from the Ships Handling, plus whatever you have from Talents.

So same again. Unskilled Gunnery, so 4G Agility, take my 1B for Quick Strike as they haven't gone yet, and another for Aim. Silhouette wise I think it is 2P but not sure about speed and everything. Seems like there might be some benefit from the Target Lock manouvre, although it did fail strictly speaking, so I'll take another 1B and if I can't have it I'll spend some Strain for another Aim

AD-hoc's Target lock does indeed succeed and the information flows to Ken and Foess's screens. Twin Laser Cannons spit blaster bolts from the top and bottom of the ship. The Tie fighters are lining up on the ship when they explode in twin fireballs. Pergano, pulling on the controls as tightly as he can scraps the next corner of the debris canyon causing several large chunks of scrap to pound onto the hull of the ship.

After Armor, the ship takes 4 Hull Trauma. Is Pergano going to slow down, Difficulty at speed 3 is RRP.

Placing his feet either side of the ladder and wrapping his sucker-tipped fingers round the outside Ken slides down the ladder from the dorsal cannon turret. He seeks out Foess and slaps him heartily on the back. 'That's some impressive shooting. Welcome to the team.'

With one final slam Pergano slows the ship to a manageable speed. The ship shudders as he clips another debris column and then eases the ship into the main part of the 'canyon'. It's only about ten minutes until you approach the landing area.

Ahead, you see a prominent ridge of junk and debris jutting into the end of a kilometer-long toxic lake of yellow-brown sludge. Islands of wrecked ships, trashed speeders, and garbage dot the lake. Along the shore, away from the ridge, several Jawa scavengers on skiffs are fishing a heavily corroded astromech droid out of the lake.

Three caverns carved into the side of the ridge appear as you descend. Given the roughness of the surrounding debris, and the steepness of the shore, they seem to be the only viable landing spot for a ship the size of yours. As you get closer, you see a Rodian in one of the alcoves waving you in. Moments later Dancy and the Long Shot arrive from a different direction and settle in beside you.

As Pergano lands the ship, his hands and whirling around the controls, one of his appendages reaches for the comms. It looks like we have a welcoming party of some kind. Once the ship is down, crew members should go to meet them. Passengers should probably stay in the back until we have a plan.

He then hops out of his chair and heads to the ship exit.

AD-hoc is looking out of the cockpit window at all of the scrap, the debris, the wrecks laying about. If they could, his eyes could widen in amazement. What wonderful treasures could be waiting there? 'I might explore the landscape while talks are taking place.'

Ken gazes out over the miles of toxic waste and corroded debris. 'Now that's what I'm talking about. Running blockades, escaping the Imperial Navy, secret bases in the side of waste mountains. This is what I signed up for!' He straps on his blasters and strolls down to the exit ramp. 'That and the money I expect to receive for bringing Cratala and all her technology here from Cholganna.'

Once your ship has settled in, you head down the ramp. A Rodian approaches you wearing a jacket with the IsoTech Logo on the chest.

"Welcome, welcome. I'm Norta, I manage Scape Heap Point for Reom. He told me to be expecting you and it seems you picked up an extra ship. Did you find anything else of interest on your trip?"

What the droid is saying is...We experienced some competition, including some competitors and some Imperials. We did however complete the mission.

'You can tell Reom that Cratala is willing to talk about selling her technology. Some of us have been on the receiving end and it seems...interesting. She seems to be under the impression that you're going to set her up with a lab.'

Ken also laughs at Ad-Hoc's bluntness, 'We've even brought back one of the Rodians, thought you might like to question him. The rest, well, they didn't do so well. It's a ghest eat ghest world as we all know' he says, flashing another one of his disconcerting narrow mouthed smiles that probably looks less creepy to a fellow Rodian.

Norta seems very excited about your revelation. "Oh my, that is terrific news. Reom will be most excited when he arrives tomorrow to see what she's brought. Where there any other...." It seems he was about to ask about survivors but stumbles to a stop as both ships are in the middle of disgorging their contents.

Turning back towards Ken after looking around at all of the survivors, "Can you keep everyone here for a bit, I'll go get a crew on to opening up some rooms. We've got a couple of derelict ships that we converted to living space. We can use them for housing for now."

Without really waiting for an answer, Norta hurries off into one of the tunnels in the scrap heap. Returning shortly, he has some assistants that start guiding the survivors off to quarters.

Once the crowd has moved along, he invites you to join him in a small conference room.

Let me know if anyone wants to do anything while Norta is getting the rooms ready or when he comes back. Otherwise, we'll keep it moving.

Norta returns shortly with some help to shepherd the survivors off to some temporary housing. Once the people are moving away, Dancy comes to where you are gathered near your ship.

"Well folks, looks like I'll be heading back. I need to get the Longshot back to it's owner, I'm sure they're wondering where we've been. " She hands Ken a Cred stick. "There 2000 on there for the 4 of you, should be enough to cover your work for me. Once Reom shows up, he'll pay you for the recovery of the Survivors and Cratala. It's been interesting, I may be in touch." She turns and heads back to the Longshot.

Norta waves you to come in the direction of most of the others, "My crew will get these beings settled, meanwhile, let's take a seat in the conference room over here." He gestures to a doorway ahead.

Upon hearing that AD-hoc is interested in salvaging, he directs him to the edge of the clearing, past where the ships landed.

"Here, take this datapad, it has an outline of the area. Most of the closer stuff has been picked over, but the map has the most recent 'new' drops of scrap. You may get lucky there. Remember to watch out for Imperial patrols, technically were all breaking the law just by being here."

AD-hoc takes the datapad and heads out, leaving the business and negotiating to the rest of the team. When he arrives to the designated area, he starts searching for parts he can use to fix the ship.

AD-hoc arrives where Norta sent him and sees a pair of repulsor skiff's parked at the edge of the toxic lake. From the looks of the map, it'll take about 15 minutes, by skiff to reach the nearest 'new' pile of scrap. Climbing aboard, he gently pilots one of them out over the toxic lake and between the mounds of scrap metal.

After Norta gathers Harsol, IT-3PO, Cratala and you guys into a meeting room, he starts to work with Cratala to see what data they were able to bring with them. After a few minutes he stops and turns to you.

"Oh my, this is going to be very tedious for you. Here, here's 2000 credits towards what we owe you. Once I compile a list of everything Cratala has brought, I'll give it to Reom when he get's here tomorrow. I'm sure he'll be thrilled to meet with you and settle up. In the mean time, make yourselves at home, check out our showrooms and there's even what passes as a bar."

Scrapheap Point (this 'base') is a collection of old starships that have been connected by makeshift corridors. Most of the ships are completely buried in the scrap with only the corridors that IsoTech crews have created allowing access. In two of the ships are 'showrooms' displaying some of IsoTech's hardware along with meeting and work rooms. The third ship is completely crew quarters. This is the part in the Module where it says "the players finally get some downtime" so if anyone wants to do anything specific or shop for tech or weapons, let me know. Otherwise, we'll take a moment for AD-hoc to do some salvaging and jump to 'tomorrow'.
AD-hoc, pleas make a Survival and then a Perception check against an Average (PP) difficulty.

AD-hoc drives the skiff about 30 minutes out into ravines of newly delivered scrap. Pulling up to a recent dump site, he steps out onto the scrap and begins searching. It's only a few minutes when he comes across several sheets of Durasteel. He begins to uncover the Durasteel when the heap shifts, like a sink hole opening up. He falls, but only a few meters, banged up but not injured, he stands and climbs out of the hole. He easily finishes digging out the Durasteel plates and stacking them on the skiff. As he heads back, he spots an Imperial Probe droid floating in the distance. It's difficult to tell if it has seen him as he winds around another pile of scrap and disappears.
OOC:
The Fall damage was less than your soak, so all good. You recovered a meter high stack of odd shaped pieces of Durasteel. You're pretty sure its enough to repair the ship, once you have a place to work and some time.

Ken goes strolling through the showrooms, looking to pick up some scanner goggles, spare power packs for his heavy blaster and some grenades. He also looks for a utility belt to hang all this stuff off in an ostentatious fashion.

Once he's done that he intends to find an 'asssistant' to help him interrogate the Clan Yiyar captive. He's aware that people seem to find him more comical than intimidating so he wants some more muscle.

The Barabel finishes his tightening with a grunt and turns to Ken. "Explosives, huh... Down the hall on the left. Seems to me that's Grancet's table.


AD-hoc pilots the skiff back to the base with no further incident. He doesn't spot any other good looking salvage nor does he see the Imperial Probe droid again...

I'd like to get some frag and stun grenades - keeping most on the ship to replenish what we use - maybe 4 frag and 4 stun grenades - that's 200 credits + 300 credits - Ken is going to try and bargain to get a better deal because that's just the kind of guy he is, even though he doesn't have any points in Negotiation - I know it's usually opposed but I'll roll against a 2P (might speed things up). I'm guessing this individual might also have some heavy blaster power packs - he'd like to pick up 2 of those (50 credits).

You approach the conference room where you left the others earlier. It's empty save for Norta, the IsoTech manager for Scrap Heap Point. After reporting the Imperial probe droid, he checks a few things on his screen and rises from his seat.

"Well, then you better come with me, just in case we're out of time." Leading you into the remains of the Correlian corvette and up the turbo lift, he ushers you into the captain's quarters before hurrying off.

Reom lies on the bed as a 2-IB medical droid enters and begins to tend to his leg. He gestures for you to have a seat, pointing to some folded chairs leaning against the wall. He grimaces a bit from the pain as the droid works, and slowly turns to you.

"So, things got a bit exciting while you were exploring the Wheel. Seems that the Sa Nalaor is a lot more popular than I thought. I heard rumors that some of the data might have been copied from the pod before I even received it. When someone gave me this lovely blaster wound when they broke into my office looking for the pod after you left, I decided it was too dangerous to stay.
I came here to hide out, get treatment, and wait for you. You'll have to forgive my multiple deceptions. A secret with secrets, if you will. It certainly has its uses in times like these. Of course, it isn’t perfect."


Shuffling in the bed, looking to get more comfortable, he continues. "I saw your report to Norta. If there is anything else you'd like to share, now is the time. We probably better finish up our negotiations while we have a chance. I must say, things have worked out better than I expected."

Norta's voice breaks over the com link. "Reom... more trouble. We detected a TIE fighter patrol searching the area. It will be [static cuts in] minutes left before it pegs our location. Not sure what tipped them off. ’’
Reom sags a bit, and then says, "Got it Norta. Maybe our friends here can help."

"Great, cause we’re gonna need all the help we can get. Scrapheap Point’s done for. Any of those people an engineer or technician? We need some help pushing debris out of the way, if nothing else. Sending Status report to your datapad now, Reom. "


Reom picks up a nearby datapad and winces as he looks at it. "Well, I've got one more secret for you. Our little wrecked corvette here may not look like it, but she’ll do. This thing is operational. Or it should be. We’ve never exactly had a chance to test the repairs, but looks like were going to now. That patrol is just the beginning. We don’t have much time.

"Norta's right, we need a few more repairs before we can launch this thing. You up for it? I know you have your own transport, and you'll need to get that out of here. I'm not willing to leave all of this behind, even as shot up as it is. Help me out, and I'll make it worth your while. Well jump to one of our emergency rendezvous points in deep space, Iso-One, about 15 light years from here. From there, well be able to call in our techs, and you’ll be free to go. ’’

As the alarm goes out across Scrap Heap Point that the Imperials are coming and the Evacuation plan is a go. Ken and Pergano run through the 'showroom' on their way out. Ken flags the Barabel down with an offer to get on the guns and he quickly follows you to the ship.

AD-Hoc and Foess agree that the bipolar stabilizers are at fault, but it would take hours to pull them and replace. The best option is to reroute the power around the faulty bits, either programmatically or physically.

AD-Hoc/Foess - it's either a Hard Computers check and 5 minutes to reroute via the computer or it's 10 minutes and an average Mechanics check to physically run bypass cables.

Ken/Pergano - I assume your taking off ASAP. Any actions before you take to the sky?

Ken is eager to get back on the guns and take out a few more Imperials, he's got quite the taste for it. He briefly shows the ventral cannons to the Barabel then scootches up the ladder into the dorsal turret. Putting on the ship's internal comms headpiece he says to Pergano, 'Get us up there, I'm going to add more Imperial ships to the scrapheap. Boska!'

AD-hoc works quickly and successfully instructs the computer to open and close specific electrical relays, creating a new and stable path for the Main Repulsorlift power. The readouts stop flashing that angry red and green numbers light up the display panel.

Pergano lifts the ship out of it's junk pile hiding place and circles around to see a pair of TIE fighters in the distance, they are making what looks like a standard sweep pattern and it's heading right to Scrap Heap Point. It's obvious they don't have the Heap's exact location, but at this rate, that's only minutes away.

Pergano flicks the comms to speak with the gunners So far it looks to only be two ships. They are fast but fragile. Focus on taking them out quickly and maybe we can avoid re-enforcements. Let us break up their search so that even if re-enforcements arrive they might after to start over or miss the ship.

My thought is to go running at them guns a-blazing at high speed to pull them from the search. Do we need an initiative roll or anything?

Also do we have an idea on how long generally it would take for them to bring backup to our location?

Since I have additional limbs, does that means I can do two maneuvers in the same turn. How does that play in space combat? as long as it makes sense?

My thought would be, accelerate/punch it manuever and an evasive manuevers/gain advantage at the same time.

My thought is I have two hands I can control the sticks while simultaneously controlling throttle with the other two

Pergano - Yes the extra limbs give you a 2nd maneuver each turn without spending the Strain. Still a 2 maneuver limit per turn.

I'm assuming Pergano will go first, you need to use the Accelerate maneuver to increase your speed and the Fly/Drive to close the distance, or evasive if you want to keep the distance (You guys are in Short range currently).
AD-Hoc and Foess round the corner to see one of the techs lying on the floor, smoke rising from his arms and out of an open access panel in the wall. It's obvious that something in the wall shorted out across the technician, who appears alive, sort of.

Foess takes a quick look at the technician, it's obvious he's been electrocuted and Foess doens't have the tools here to stabilize him. Foess will need to get him to medical for attention.

Let me know if more difficult/easy (I think this puts us at 4 speed, and if we are faster then them I can upgrade a Green to Yellow so throwing an extra yellow as I imagine they are probably at speed 3)

As Pergano pushes the ship to full speed, the lead TIE breaks off its search and turns to meet the Slippery Ghest. Incoming Laser Fire! The blasts are close and Ken can see the flash as the lasers deflect off of the shields in front of him.

While Pergano flies the Slippery Ghest hard at the TIEs, Ken unleashes a wild barrage of fire from the dorsal laser cannons.

So we were at Short range and Pergano has moved us into Close range. Sil 4 for a YT-2400, TIE is 3 so difficulty is 2P. Firing on the TIE that hasn't gone yet and Ken gets a boost from Quick Strike. He will Aimx2 (taking 2 strain) and fire AGL 4G (he has no skill)

That's 8 damage which I think is enough to take down a TIE. Unless the 4 advantages are needed to trigger a crit or to fire the linked cannon in order to disable the TIE then I'll take them as one black die for the target and one blue die for the next check (Ken or Pergano)

I wonder whether it'd be better to let Ken act first next round and see if he can take down the other TIE. If he does I'll take all 4 advantage for 2 boost dice.

Ken's lasers leap out passing the lead TIE and striking the rear one solidly... It explodes in a brilliant ball of flame.

The Barabel on the other turret opens up... and strikes it dead on. Exploding, the on coming TIE showers the ship with itself.

Sorry, I should have posted the difficulty. It was hard, 3 purple. Also, the blue dice are 'Boost' , you could have one since AD-hoc's last roll had an un-used advantage he could pass to you. To make things interesting, the Triumph counts as a Success, but the Dice roller never counts it. So your final count would still be 1 Success, 1 Threat, 1 Triumph. :)
Working quickly once in Medical, Foess stabilizes the Technician. As he comes to, AD-hoc realizes that a piece of metal that Foess removed from the tech's arm was part of a shattered power coupling. It must have shorted when he was installing it. That would explain the arcing electricity, and probably still needs to be replaced.

A moment later, Reom comes over the ships comms. "Woo hoo, our new friends just dusted that pair of TIEs that was searching for us. There will probably be reinforcements headed this way now. So let's get this ship sealed up, We're going to start take off procedures in 10.

Ken hails the corvette, 'We've taken out the TIEs but there are probably more coming, we'll maintain a perimeter but you need to get out of there.' Then over the Slippery Ghest's intercom he says, 'Pergano, keep the scanners active, we need to run interference while Reom's people evacuate. Do you think that electronic countermeasures suite prevented the TIE's from calling for backup?'

AD-hoc leaves Foess to finish tending to his patient, the droid had a terrible bedside manner anyway, and starts searching the ship for a suitable power coupling, or something that can temporarily be used to replace one.

Ken, well it might have though I don't think we turned it on. Besides, pretty sure a deadspot like that, might have alerted the whole planet of something fishy coming this way....actually that might give me an idea... Pergano fiddles with the controls for a little bit and goes silent

The countermeasures alerted the whole planet of the location correct? How big is our time crunch are we in? I am thinking we can actually use that to our advantage to give the ship more time. If we go as far as we can make away from the corvette just at the edge of orbit, turn on the countermeasures, then blast into hyperspace we could distract the Imps to another location.

I think that would take, a quick talk of jump coordinates with the corvette. Some high speed flying (I could use my ability to push the ship one above max speed for a limited time), then an astrogation check after the countermeasures are active?

Pergano, you should already have the coordinates for the meet up. No one said they activated the countermeasures, so I was assuming that they are off. If you turn them on, every one on half the planet and ships in low orbit will know about it. But it creates a huge sensor dead zone around you. If you take off in one Direction and turn on the countermeasures, you will probably acquire a following.
One of the techs looks at AD-hoc for a second before replying, "Uh yeah, back down this corridor and left, Maintenence closet should have some.

From over the intercom comes the voice of one of the bridge crew, "Final flight checks beginning, all sections confirm readouts and readiness status."

AD-hoc has no trouble finding a power coupling, returning to the blown panel he sizes it up.

Now that you know what part blew up, you scrape away some debris and see the connections. It's an Average (2P) mechanics check to install.

AD-hoc works as fast as he can, worried about the time this is costing the group, and what would happen if the ship takes off before he is complete. 'Ship is ready for takeoff' he messages to the bridge, satisfied with his work.

Pergano levels out the ship and pulls a scan of the area. Sure enough, he's got 4 signals at long range and closing fast. In response to his query, "Slippery Ghest thank you for the assist, we are powering up now. We should be off the ground in less than five minutes."

AD-hoc steps back from his work and his sensors can detect the smoothing of the vibrations as the power levels on the ship rise.

Foess is temporarily trapped in the Medical bay as half a dozen beings start to wander in with minor injuries from the rushed repair efforts.

I like it. If you take some pot shots towards them while I fly away that certainly will help. Once they see us, we make for orbit and hit the jammers. Once we break atmosphere we punch it to the rendezvous point. With any luck, that will keep them from detecting our friends and we can get away without a scratch. Pergano starts hitting some buttons and then does a full spin around in his chair before hitting comms to the corvette How long until takeoff? We will draw them away but you got to get off this rock fast.

Is there a good estimate on how long it would take our ship/the corvette to break atmosphere? I assume us faster than them even once they take off.

You are faster than the corvette, but once they lift, it'll only take a couple minutes to break atmo. As long as your heading 'away' from their path, any intercept would be difficult for your pursuers even without the sensor jammers. Pergano, if you and Ken want to give some relevant rolls, we'll get the shooting started.

Ken will open fire on the pursuing craft. If they come into range he'll try and hit them, otherwise he'll fire wildly in their direction to get their attention. He'll use his 4G AGL plus 1 blue for acting first (Quick Strike). I'm just going to guess at difficulty 2P.

AD-hoc wanders the hallways, tightening bolts and securing panels as the rest of the crew hurries to be ready for take off. Finding his way back to Foess, he hears the demo charges that blow away the camouflaging debris from the ship. A moment later, he can detect the deck plates vibrate as the repulsors begin to lift the ship.

Ken fires a couple warning shots across the TIE fighters 'bow'... and they notice.

Pegano points the ship up and burns hard for space. The TIE Fighters, still surprised by Ken's Hello, barely have time to spin towards the Ghest before the sensor jammers blind their scopes. Going into pure pursuit mode, they accelerate hard, not only to close the distance, but to maintain a visual and the rapidly climbing ship.

Back aboard the Corellian corvette, as the sensor jammers bathe the area in white noise, Reom's crew triggers the explosives around the ship causing an avalanche of scrap to fall away from the corvette. The Blockade Bandit rises from Raxus Prime's toxic surface and heads for space.

Ken/Pergano, at this point, you've moved out of range for the weapons (on all sides). Ken can always throw shots at them to keep it real, but they'll need to out race you for 2 rounds to get back into firing range. You'll be ready for Hyperspace in 4 rounds (at this speed). Do you want to just run for it?

Ken continues to lay down an ineffectual but very flashy barrage of covering fire. 'Keep going Pergano. If they show signs of slowing down we'll review the plan.' Then he broadcasts to the Blockade Bandit, 'Slippery Ghest here, Imperials on our tail, what's your time to jump?'

The Slippery Ghest continues to push hard towards space, Ken can feel the acceleration pushing him into his straps as he faces backwards and fires the Laser Cannons.

"We're out of here in 2, at most. Great job with the distraction and we'll see you on the other side."

The seconds drag by as Ken watches the Tie Fighters creep closer. Pergano can feel the strain in the deck plates as he keeps the throttle full and then some.

Pergano, can I get an Average Astrogation check and an Average Piloting check. One for the Hyperspace coordinates and the other to jump from full speed into Hyperspace.

Both ships slide in to Hyperspace with the familiar swirl of lights. After only 5 hours, Pergano receives the signal that they are approaching their destination. Easing them out of Hyperspace, he finds that they are in the middle of nowhere. Well, that makes sense, since they're going to a secret rendezvous. Checking the coordinates, he zeros in on the exact meeting point and, um yeah, nowhere close... At least the Space Whales look nice.

Any body have any 'downtime' requests while you're in hyperspace? Pergano, you probably have time to reorient and make the standard Easy (P) Astrogation check to get back on track.

Once the cool/danger factor of the space whales passes, Pergano completes setting up the next jump. As he turns the ship he sees several of the space whales start to glow before he jumps into hyperspace.

A short while later they arrive at the rendezvous and dock with Reom's Corellian corvette.

"Welcome to Iso-One. Someday, this freighter will be the heart of our mobile operations. The loss of Scrapheap Point now makes this our main operation in this sector. We may be slowed down some without easy part-hunting on Raxus Prime, but we'll manage. In fact, I might hire you to pick up a few things for us. Come on board, well settle up, and you can be on your way. ’’

Reom is extra happy with the way things turned out. He pays you 30,000 credits. Also, it's 25 XP for everyone. Fixing the ship is really issue of time. AD-hoc recovered most of the metal you need and the techs on the corvette are willing to lend a hand. Any thoughts / last minute shopping here before we move on (or if we want to move on) ?

He's seen Reom as a potential seam of credits that he'd like to mine further. 'And we are always interested in any further work you we might be able to assist you with. AD-hoc heads down to the 'shopping' section of the ship, and excitedly talks to the person behind the counter. 'Hello proprietor! In recent events, I have used my multi-goo gun tool as an offensive tool, just as much as for repairs. Do you have something to increase its effectiveness in its newfound role? And note that I won't take kindly to being defrauded' He had never been shopping on his own before, but figured he was nailing it.

Woohoo, spending 400 credits (100 for the part, 300 for the parts needed for the modification) and then gonna roll to try and do the mods. So using Jury rigged to make it easier to ensnare enemies and the attachment will increase its damage to 5 if I use it as a weapon.
'Thank you shopkeep!' AD-hoc exclaims as he walks away, eager to get to work. He finds an empty spot to work, and then ads the pressurized gas cartridge with ease, then attempts to fine-tune it further too disorient any future enemies.

Foess, the Medpac and Medical Backpack are simple enough, the Antidote kit is a little to specific for the illegal tech company. As for the Corellian whiskey, there's always a chance. You can roll Negotiate or Knowledge Underworld to see if you can find one. The difficulty is Average, so 2 Purple.

Returning to the point in the corvette where he left off, or at least, where he thinks he left off, Ken finds that many of the sellers and stands have moved about or moved on. But he's able to locate someone selling some of the equipment he was looking for. After that display of martial prowess he thinks he ought to be able to get himself a discount with his winning charm. 'What's your price for someone who just saved your life?'

Foess asks around the shops and even the currently closed bar, the Mon-Cal there shakes his head sadly... "Sorry, best I can do for you is a couple bottles of Lothian Rye."

The Devaronian behind the table looks Ken up and down for a moment.. "Yeah, I think we can work something out. It was nice not to be the ship being chased off planet for a change."
