I continue towards the menhir, climbing onto it and examining the holes to see if there's any difference between them. Have any been used more recently than others?
OOC:
Not sure if I am supposed to use my stats for ability checks, or the spider stats...

Rolls

Perception? - (1d20)

(1) = 1

Aug 8, 2016 3:34 pm
It's not possible for Xeliss to determine if any of the holes has been used more recently than the others, they all seem to be the exact same.
Aug 10, 2016 2:30 am
I revert to my usual self and shove the gem into one of the holes on the right side, as far up as I can reach.
Aug 10, 2016 7:33 pm
The gem slides in smoothly and as the ruby begins to glow against the menhir, the walls begin to rumble. Part of one wall shifts, detaches, and charges toward you. One of the earth elementals that Elfog noticed earlier has awakened and doesn't like what you're doing here.
OOC:
Got a one on the elemental's initiative, so you all go first!
The elemental is within walking distance of all of you, so no need to worry about placement
Aug 10, 2016 10:19 pm
Not terribly surprised by what he's seeing Elfog jumps into action. Taking a few steps towards to the elemental to gain a bit of momentum he leaps into the air (well, as much as a dwarf can leap) and brings Tolvihar across his body, looking to cut the elemental's leg clean through.

Rolls

Tolvihar Attack - (1d20+7, 1d12+5)

1d20+7 : (15) + 7 = 22

1d12+5 : (8) + 5 = 13

"Time to go! I did my part- now it's up to Hunter!" I meld into my wolf form and attempt to run towards the entrance.

"Where did you- ?" Hunter whirls, caught off-guard not only by Xeliss's sudden appearance, but also the earth elemental's charge. She quickly grabs the scroll she was given, but pauses. "Is that Ogremoch's Bane? Somehow I expected something different."
OOC:
Could I make a check to see if the earth elemental is what I'm supposed to use the scroll on? Assuming Arcana for now.

Rolls

Arcana - (1d20+3)

(17) + 3 = 20

Aug 10, 2016 11:18 pm
Hunter realizes that the gnomes said Ogremoch's Bane was a extraplanar cloud, so this must be just a corrupted earth elemental. This must just be a part of cleansing the Stone.
Aug 11, 2016 12:08 am
Mai’ngor and Sinag join the dance.
OOC:
*Bonus action: activate War Dance.
*Standard Action to attack.
*Action Surge to attack again.

Hunter reaches out, clutching her hand upon empty air. She mumbles a few words and sparks begin to crackle around her hand, and with a gust of arcane wind, the electricity leaps out toward the earth elemental.
OOC:
Using one sorcery point for Distant Spell, giving the touch-based Shocking Grasp a range of 30 feet.

Rolls

Shocking Grasp vs Elemental, Lightning Damage - (1d20+5, 1d8)

1d8 : (8) = 8

Critical? - (1d8)

(2) = 2

Elfog swings Tolvihar hard, slamming it into the thick, rocky leg. It causes some cracks in the stone, but doesn't seem to affect its mobility at all.

Mai'ngor flies into battle, attacking fiercely with Sinag, and the light-blade digs two deep gouges in the monster's rocky hide.

Electricity arcs around the elemental as Hunter's magic takes hold and it lets out a deep rumble, a sign of pain perhaps?

Xeliss shifts into the form of a large wolf and rushes for the stairs away.
OOC:
Elemental has taken 48 damage so far
Soliin still has an action to take!
Aug 11, 2016 4:39 pm
I pause my escape to turn and watch the others take on the elemental. I keep an eye out for any other dangers.

Rolls

Perception - (1d20+3)

(13) + 3 = 16

Aug 11, 2016 5:09 pm
Aside from the tremendous elemental, there appears to be no other danger
Aug 11, 2016 7:36 pm
Soliin sneaks up behind the elemental and tries to strike it at a weak point in the leg.

Rolls

Sneak attack - (1d20+8, 1d6+6)

1d20+8 : (2) + 8 = 10

1d6+6 : (3) + 6 = 9

Sneak attack damage - (2d6)

(64) = 10

Aug 11, 2016 9:46 pm
Soliin can't get a solid strike on the things huge, stony leg.
OOC:
His turn!
The elemental roars and begins swinging his large fists at the small intruders. He swings at, and narrowly misses, the agile Tikbalang. His second attack, against Elfog is better aimed and bangs off of the hardy dwarf's shoulder (8 bludgeoning damage)
OOC:
Back to your turn now!
Aug 11, 2016 10:14 pm
I sigh, shaking my wolf head for a moment. It's always something trying to kill us. I should be used to it. I change direction, charging towards the elemental (getting behind it if possible.)

Rolls

Attack (w/Advantage) - (1d20+5, 1d20+5, 2d6+3)

1d20+5 : (12) + 5 = 17

1d20+5 : (6) + 5 = 11

2d6+3 : (54) + 3 = 12

Aug 12, 2016 12:44 am
"Ya hit like me mother's fragile aunt's sick daughter's little cousin's pet goblin's kitten!" Elfog yells out. Hardly slowed from the elemental's attack the barbarian throws caution to the wind and brings Tolvihar to bear.
OOC:
Reckless Attack: Your first attack during your turn can be a reckless attack. Advantage to melee weapon attack rolls using Strength during this turn. Attack rolls against have an advantage until your next turn.

Hunter backs away from the elemental to gain more distance, and flicks her hand to throw four arcane bolts of energy at the entity.

Rolls

2nd level Magic Missile - (4d4+4)

(3442) + 4 = 17

Wild Magic Surge - (1d20)

(12) = 12

Xeliss comes around the back of the elemental and begins to gnaw at the back of its huge leg. Surprisingly, her canine jaws begin to dig deep trenches in the stone creature.

Elfog and Mai'ngor both attack the creature repeatedly, but are unable to get through its powerful defenses.

Hunter's magical attack has better effect than the powerful warriors' and small fissures form where the magic missiles hit.
OOC:
77 damage so far and its still standing!

Soliin still has an action!
