You will need to take an action to peer between the boards. Also, the sounds seem to come from the back, you are currently in a room at the front of the mansion.

Darren climbs to his feet and picks up his hammer and shield. Cursing the fact that he doesn't have time to don his armor, he casts a spell of protection on himself, and then one on Ireena.
Casting Ironskin on myself (60 rounds) by expending one use of my Fervor ability to cast it as a Swift Action
Casting Shield of Faith on Ireena with my Standard Action, increasing her AC by 3 and will last 60 rounds

Rubbing his eyes, trying to shake off the drowsiness, Ujjaya rises and grabs his gear. He whispers a short prayer as he answers the call to arms.

Durgrim takes out his hammer, and faces the sounds of pursuit. He yells some dwarfish commands to his cousin as he looks for their pursuers. He looks at the mansion thoughtfully and yells (in common). "If there be any brave souls in there, ya' better open the door and let us in! There be foul beasts on our tail, and I'd rather not be takin' down that door if I can help it!"

Veroth runs full out to the back of the house, drawing his bow as he does, and looks out a window through the cracks.

Right now, the only thing Veroth spots are two dwarves running towards your house as if their lives depended on it. One of them is dressed in fullplate armor, carrying a heavy-looking hammer. The other one looks to have civilian, if elaborate clothing and jewelry.

I have the courtyard covered from the top floor as well. It should be safe to open the door for a few seconds. Roland yells down.
