Hello everyone.

This is a nice site you all have here.

Does it have built in rollers for "funky" dice?

Welcome.

Some funk dice are supported. Take a look at the dice page to get an idea.

There are always limitations, but hopefully you can find what you need, or find a workaround if you can't.

Ok, will do. Thanks.

Welcome to the community, solemn_one. Any game in particularly you're looking to play with those funky dice?

Welcome, solemn_one. What kind of funky dice-using games are you interested in? Star Wars and Genesys are supported, but L5R 5e isn't directly.

I was looking for a PbP forum that would support games like Dungeon Crawl Classics or even other systems that use various die and this one was recommended. I would ultimately like to have some fun with a DCC game if anyone is into that sort of game.

Thanks. It's a great game, check it out!

It looks like this forum supports the dice. The game has a "dice chain" that includes all of your typical RPG dice, but also requires rolls like d3, d16, d24, and d30. . .to name a few.

you can roll xdy+z on here x being the number of dice y being the dice itself there's probably a max number somewhere but you can at least go anywhere from 1-100 and last z is a modifier you want to add to the roll

What's the community like here? Meaning, fairly active? Is there a lot of in and out traffic, or do people tend to stick around for a while?

When I checked in July, two-thirds of the active users had been on the site for longer than a year. So I guess most people you'll meet will have been here for a while.

Welcome to the community, solemn_one! You'll see varied levels of activity from the members but yes, many of us have been here a while.

Welcome, solemn_one!

If you want to see how GP functions, here are links to the New GP Member Guide, the forum rules and this video introduction made by user Qralloq. You might also be interested in looking through some public games as well to get a feel for the site.

To join a game, keep your eyes on the Games Tavern, where GMs advertise their games and look for players.

You're also invited to join us on the Discord server for some friendly conversation, about the site, RPGs in general or anything else!

I also run a beginner's game as a quick introduction to GamersPlane and play-by-post, if you're interested.

Welcome to the community, solemn_one. As others have pointed out, you'll have no trouble with DCC and the Zocchi dice on GP -- should work great. There are a few people here who know, have played, and like DCC I should note!

Cool. From one DCC fan to another, hello! :)

It's not my very favorite system (I tend to like lighter-weight, newer OSR systems for my old-school adventuring), but I surely love funnels, the magic system, mighty feats, and allllll those amazing modules...

Loads of modules.

That's fair. The lighter OSR systems are fun and probably easier to manage online.

I would like to do both actually. I'm working on setting up a DCC forum right now.

Nice. I once ran Portal Beneath the Stars for a couple of friends I gamed with 25 years prior. They both ran four PCs at a time, and I think the headcount was somewhere in the 10-12 range. Couple of years later, we're still playing that game! (Though after the funnel, when they chose their long-term PCs, I switched the game to The Black Hack, one of my favorites.)

Very nice. I love the "zero to adventurer" design baked right into DCC. Why the switch to TBH?
Oct 20, 2021 3:25 am
Mainly because I love TBH, and I found some bits of DCC fiddly and not to my tastes. I've since played it a little more and gotten over some of that, but in general I err towards simpler games with fairly unified mechanics. The dice chain doesn't do a ton for me in DCC, though part of that is that I've never found a set of physical DCC dice that I really like.

I see. I've played a few of the lighter games, but I haven't played TBH >> I've heard good things though! I saw, in another person's thread here mention of Knave and a few games like that. I like those and have enjoyed a few indie RPG games from itch.io that are relatively light.
Oct 20, 2021 11:55 am
Knave is about the only OSR game I would really want to play. All the other had too many weird edges.

'OSR' and 'rules lite' are not synonyms, though.

Far from it, in fact -- hopefully we weren't leading people to believe they were. I was simply saying I liked the lighter-weight, next-gen OSR games.
