As you have probably sussed out, she's a major player in all this, so she's not going to be a cakewalk no matter what approach you take. Go ahead and make your approach (either as scholars, or something else), and I'll give you a check difficulty. Her Motivations will also play a large role; you've probably ascertained by now that she 1) wants to resolve the labor dispute, and 2) has anger issues.

Wow! So, Hildar and Nekurr are both augmented. You can spend 1 Triumph to augment Tronus, too, if you want. I'll let you burn both Triumphs to essentially Curse Olond, making her roll 1 fewer green on all her checks (or lowering your difficulty to target her). Just before Hildar approaches, Olond lays her head on the table and bangs it subtly. She's obviously feeling dejected about something—perhaps due to a jolt from Lady Fortuna?

With the curse on her, that's Deception with a RRR difficulty. You can spend her 2 threat to get a boost if you wish. Did Nekurr invest in Deception? This could be a group check if he and Tronus pitch in. That would yield +1 boost, as well, assuming Nekurr provides the ranks in Deception. As it stands, the pitch itself will net you 2 boosts and 2 setbacks of motivations.You also suffer 2 strain for every social check on her due to one of her abilities.

Looks like none of you has any ranks in Deception, and all of you have Cunning 2. So your pool looks right, unless CESN wants to drop a bunch of unspent XP into Deception as discussed on p. 2 of this thread.Missing the roll won't necessarily end the encounter, but it will be a "fail forward" situation. :)

Here goes then…right….not sure what to do with that lot - 2 advantages to pick up on a flaw of hers, the Triumph to learn a "motivating facet" of her (both those from the table on page 121 of the core book…if they don’t fly for this just say and I’ll try to think of another use for them).
