We could contrive that it isn't her parents who give her a dog - they are too mad at her for dropping the summer job at the library and for the skateboard - but a relative, like an Auntie that spoils her since she was little?

That's a fun idea. Maybe her aunt comes to visit and brings the dog, since Al told her she wants one. And now her parents have to deal with it.

Also, Al didn't drop the job. She totally meant to go back to it. She just... forgot

Dogs are the best! If I were to be greeted by anything, I'd probably choose it to be a dog.

Usually when I join a game already in progress, I try to read through all the posts to get a feel for the game. In this case, I'll just stick to reviewing the OOC thread. Otherwise, you'd be looking for another player to replace me before I could get through them all!!

Having looked through the archetypes, I think Daydreamer: Survivor looks like a good and intriguing option. New to town but not the New Kid archetype, I'll leave that for Al.

Brief summary:

In the first adventure, we discovered that Logan's sister's ex was now dating a mail order robot bride. We confronted the robot, she tried to murder everyone, we defeated her.
In the second adventure, we were haunted by an evil ghost-mom because some kid's mom thought we were bullying her son and she accidentally summoned the ghost. We arranged for her son to go missing and then brought him back so that she would think we're heroes and the ghost would leave us alone.
In the third adventure, we were running away from bullies and ended up in a house where we were shrunk down to the size of a battery and had to overcome some difficulties, including fighting wasps and a spider, in order to find the machine that shrank us and return back to our normal size.

That about sums up the impression of the story so far I've gleaned from the OOC thread. Fun times 🤣

To answer an earlier question posed by Dr_B, if I had to choose an 80's movie it'd probably be 'Mazes & Monsters' (info link below). Its a terrible, corny movie mired in the 80's Satanic Panic zeitgeist. So bad it's good; plus, it's one of the first starring roles for Tom Hanks.
