OOC:
I was kind of pulling Belanor in, because he's the businessman, but was definitely doing the "say it loud enough so Gundren can hear me" thing.

"Five percent each, for life will make you rich. Once the mine is operational, you'll never have to work again if that's something that interests ya." Gundren chimes in, overhearing the conversation.

"I can hire others with a one time fee to clear the mine. This offer is my way of thanking the lot of you for what you did to save me."

"5% could seem a bit low Gerbo. But it always comes down to the product. You see...." Belanor will ramble on for a bit about math and how it works in the ale business. "And once it become fully operational that would increase to 10%. So if the guesstimated figures are near market value then it would be a substantial sum. Don't get it wrong," Belanor pauses to take a drink and a breath. "You won't compare to nay of the aristocracy of Waterdeep but in the smaller towns you could seem like royalty."

"Do we wave ourselves a deal?"

Gerbo spits in his hand, climbing over the table to offer it to Gundren. "I'm on board."

Without flinching Gundren slaps his hand into Gerbo's and shakes on the deal.

"Good to have you aboard, me friend!"

He looks to the others, a hint of excitement in his eyes.

"That's one. What do the rest of ya say?"

Kerisha stops shovelling a rather tasty pastry into her mouth as Karma leans in to whisper to her. She looks confused at the description, not recalling ever seeing anything like that on her travels. She gulps down the sticky bun before whispering back "Could be trouble. Shall I add to list?"

As talk turns to money, Kerisha gets lost in thought about what she would do with all that money. But other than 'Buy shiny sword' she's out of ideas. With Gerbo agreeing, she offers her fist to Gundren to signal her intent to look after her little tribe members.

Karma nods his agreement to Kerisha’s idea of adding the strange cat to her list, and silently watches the exchange between his Uncle and Gerbo. After a short pause to Gundren’s question the shaggy Dwarf stands, "I maybe an unconventional Dwarf dude and looked upon with negative mojo by some, but I am Dwarf heart and soul. The mojo of blood will always be positive within me, so with you Uncle I will stand."

"Is there much danger in there? I've not been well with many physical confrontations."

Pleased to see that everyone appears to be on board with his plan, Gundren's face twists just a bit when he hears Belanor's question.

"Of course! Who knows what in the gods names have made themselves at home in there over the years, not to mention to Drow who has his own sites set on the place. Nothing the lot of you can't handle!"

The old dwarf grabs his mug from the table and quickly gulps down its contents.

"I'm going to head out to the campsite in a few hours, see if my brothers are there. The four of you should gear up and head out not too long after I do."
OOC:
Any questions for Gundren before he takes his leave?

oh crap!

"Yes," Belanor straightens up, " what messenger services would you know in the town. I'll need to send both a letter and for my will."

OOC:
I assume he tells us the location of said campsite. Also map on the table probably helps with that?
"Well, I'll head there while we get ready then," Belanor mentions to the rest of the crew.

But the residual income... But also the threat of death or worse..
OOC:
when we get to it. Belanor will send his monthly due in the letter and another with a brief briefing of the situation and to have his will ready incase he doesn't respond or arrive
after a set amount of time.

OOC:
At this point everyone is welcome to go about town if they wish. When you're ready to take the trip to the cave just post so and once everyone is good I'll start a new thread for it.

And yes, Gundren would have supplied you with detailed instructions on how to get to the cave.

Karma needing some positive vibes makes his way through town and heads to the Village temple/shrine/church.
Feb 10, 2022 7:25 pm
Karma has little trouble locating the only temple in town, as it shares a common area directly in front of the Stonehill Inn. The open air shrine, made of miss-matched stones lined in a semi-circle about a crude stone altar, is in the care of an eager young female elf, dressed in weathered, but well kept robes.

"Greetings and welcome, Friend! May Tymora's luck shine upon you."
Feb 12, 2022 2:53 am
Thou not a normal Dwarf, Karma still feels a sense of peace around rocks and stone. The greeting from the Priestess bring a beaming smile to his face (a DC17 on perception required), which is lost beneath the mop of hair covering it. Karma has always felt a love for Elves and the easy relationship with nature.

"Greeting Dudette of Tymora. I had seen your shrine previously and thought I could do some repairs to the stonework, I am in need of some good vibes and mojo."

*** AT THE LIONSHIELD COSTER ***

Entering the modest trading post, Belanor is caught of guard by the flurry of activity so early in the morning. A human woman stands behind the counter of the establishment, barking out instructions to four others, who are cleaning and arranging merchandise to be sold.

It's obvious to Belanor that the women has noticed his entrance, but she goes about her business as if he wasn't there.
*** AT THE SHRINE OF LUCK ***

Karma is familiar with the goddess Tymora and those who worship her; commonly they arepeople who rely as much on luck as skill to complete their objectives. He is also aware that most shrines to her offer healing in the forms of potions and scrolls; as luck isn't always of the good variety.

The young woman in care of the shrine detects what she thinks is a smile, and returns one of her one; her long ears perking up when Karma mentions stonework.

"Sometimes doing honest work for others can be the path to good vibes and mojo. And, to be honest, I've always wanted to see what a skilled craftsman could do with these old stones."

Taking a closer look at the crude structure, Karma instantly recognizes that the stones are a collection of picked over remnants from old ruins. Solid, but old and weathered.

"I am Sister Garaele." she says, bowing slightly.

"And I would be honored if you would let me observe your work."

"Thank you Dudette . . . sorry Sister Garaele, I am Karma Barksmoker. I am not the greatest of craftsmen but I do find the labour calming and pushes away the world’s negativity as much as communion in the wilds." Karma examines the stonework moving bits a pieces around which maybe loose, using his eye to figure out what supplies and equipment he will need to make the improvements required.

"I have only been here a short time but I find myself drawn to the feel of this place, though there seems to many things a miss. What can you tell me of this township?"

*** AT THE SHRINE OF LUCK ***

"I've only been in town for a little over a year now and understand why one would enjoy the atmosphere that this place provides." she replies, carefully watching Karma as he inspects the stonework, clearly curious of the whole process.

"Like all villages in the realm there are things which could be improved upon, but in the last few days things have taken a turn for the better. The main source of fear and villainy, a group calling themselves the Redbrands, seems to have dispersed! If they have indeed left for good this town can flourish."
OOC:
The stones simply appears to have been removed from older, possibly ruined buildings. They are worn, but it's hard to tell just how long ago they were originally used in construction.
