GP Presents: Ask Me Anything

In an attempt to get to know the community and other users on GP better, we want to allow a different member each week to step into the spotlight for an Ask Me Anything (AMA).
The idea is for one person at a time to make a thread where everyone else can ask questions that the current AMA spotlighted user will do their best to answer (if they feel comfortable)
Anyone can sign up to get your own spot to host an AMA. Just message me or reply to this thread and I will put you on the waiting list. The reason why we're doing it this way instead of just letting everyone make their AMA posts at the same time is so nobody gets drowned out and ends up without any questions, which would be a real shame.

The rules:

- Each AMA will run for one week, then the next thread will be put up. Old AMA threads will not be locked but please focus on the current AMA each week if possible.
- There is no limit on how many questions one user can ask but please don’t try to dominate this thread by yourself and give other users the opportunity to also ask questions.
- Keep your questions respectful and don’t ask for personal information that users might be not be comfortable giving.
- Questions don’t have to exclusively be focused around RPGs but that should be the primary topic.
- If you are hosting an AMA, you are under no obligation to answer a question you don’t want to but please try to answer as many as you feel comfortable with. That makes this whole experience more fun. You’re free to joke around but please also be honest so people can get to know you.
- Anyone is welcome to sign up to host an AMA, whether you’ve been on the site since it was founded or just joined last week, as long as you’re enthusiastic and want to be a part of the community.

Ah-ha! I wondered when you'd raise your head above the parapet. Perhaps you should be answering questions instead of asking them for a change.

I've debated finding a way to get you answering questions one of these days, @Qralloq. Maybe this is the way to do it.

I've not chimed in as watchers of the YouTube show know a bunch about me already, but I'm happy to be volunteered as tribute.

Heads up: For holiday reasons, we'll pause the AMA thingy for next week. You can use the time to ask KCC more questions (or some of the previous AMA people as well).
We'll start the next AMA up again after the holidays. Maybe on the first of January

I am going to throw my hat in because, why not? Might get me to interact here more outside of "magnitude" of games I am playing.

Also, a suggestion:
It would be beneficial to add a schedule table to the first post, that way we can all see who is up next and when to expect to be put on the spot for questioning. Maybe add links to previous AMAs for ease of navigating.

I had a schedule in my original draft but the mods said (and I agree) that that might lead to people looking forward to the next AMA more than focusing on the current one so I've decided not to have a schedule after all.

I didn't feel that a list of previous AMAs was necessary as the subforum contains only those AMAs and nothing else. But that wouldn't be hard to add so I could do that no problem

That makes sense. Although, unless the next participant is chosen randomly out of the pool of the willing tributes that can still be done by scrolling down the list.
Oh, right, I rarely go looking for a specific forum and usually go straight to the thread from Recent Posts. Links here would be redundant.

Okay, so after Len, we have one more person lined up for AMAs (You get exactly 1 point if you can guess who). So now is the perfect time to apply if you're interested in doing an AMA as well. As mentioned before, it doesn't matter if you're brand new to the site or have been here since the beginning, whether you're playing in two dozen games or are still waiting for your first.
As long as you're interested in doing an AMA and believe you'll stick with it, I'm sure people will have plenty of questions for you 😊

I'll keep it in mind. I haven't yet decided what to do when we run out of people to do an AMA, but just redoing some people who've done one before is one of the options.
Still, new people wanting to answer question is going to be the priority

One thing that I think might help would be to somehow 'pin' a current AMA to the top of the Community Posts forum list so that it doesn't get buried underneath a flurry of posts or new activity.

I could easily pin it somewhere but as it was a bit of a pet project when I started it, I didn't want to take up any undue space with it.

If you let me know where you think would be a good place for the active thread, I could discuss it with Keleth and the other mods

Can't you just pin it to the top of the AMA thread? Also is it time for the next AMA to start?
