What at you hoping to get from this game?

Do you have any past experience: with this game system, PbtA (Powered by the Apocalypse) games in general, other RPG systems, with PbP (Play by Post)? It is fine of you don't, we can teach you as we go along.

Take a look at the Help! thread for guidance. Feel free to ask any question here or in the General Chat depending on where they seem relevant.

I've read the rules for this system before, but I haven't played it, or PbtA games in general. I do have a lot of experience with RPGs and with PbP stuff (and not a lot of experience with this platform, which is why it took me so long to reply here). As for what I'm hoping to get out of this game... I don't really have anything specific in mind, I just want to play something that doesn't make my brain fry itself.

Definitely not a requirement, but have you read any other PbtA games? WoDu assumes you can draw from elsewhere to fill in the gaps it leaves. No problem if you haven't, we can make sure you are get up to speed as we play.
bowlofspinach's runs a Tutorial game, that might be of help with getting familiar with how things work on this site. It is, by no means, required, but you might also want to take a look at it, it is quick and good fun.
Hopefully we can arrange that. :)

I haven't played PbtA games in general, but same as with these rules, I've read quite a bit of them... basically, I read a lot but I don't get a lot of chances to play.

A familiar enough situation.

What other (types of) games interest you? Which have you read? Are there any you are particularly keen to try?

I prefer games that are set in spec-fic worlds, that is, fantasy or sci-fi. I can work with just about any content (mystery, social intrigue, exploration, puzzles, all varieties of combat...) but I prefer characters who are at least competent.

Systems-wise, besides D&D and PbtA, I've read FATE, GURPS, Call of Cthulhu, the FFG 40k games, and a bunch of indie stuff. I've wanted to play Exalted for the longest time, but I realize that the system is... clunky.

I'm back, sorry. Had a cold, which took a lot out of me and my ability to remember things.

Where do I start with character creation?

Read through Help!, then the Rules focusing on Character Creation.

Then head over to Character and World Creation, roll your Stats and start thinking about how all that fits into a character.

Constantly ask questions along the way.
