Hello & welcome to the oneshot "The Frigid Woe" adapted for Dungeon World!

Character Info:
Name: Teorethefethyrio "Teo" Serinthyial (elves love their ridiculously long and strange names, no?)
Age: 21
Pronouns: he/they (when you think about it, druids must have a pretty fluid definition of identity, eh?)
Race/Class: Elf Druid

OOC:
Still subject to change, and obviously still willing to change and adapt based on everyone else’s character and whatnot :)

Oh! And thanks for having me! It’s great to see you, Chalry, again, and its great to meet everyone else! :)

Thanks for inviting me to your game, Data! I do love Dungeon World!
Chalrytharendir says:
@Jabes.plays.RPG I know I already took the bard, but maybe you could make a slight adaptation and make a bagpipe playing Barbarian in order to resurrect Bonepipe? 😆

I think he'd get along well with Mance, maybe too well 🔥🔥🌎🔥🔥
Every DW class I've played has been a blast! Sure, I can see Bonepipe (originally a bard) as the Barbarian instead. OR the Fighter. OR the Immolator. LOL!

Ha would still play a flaming bagpipe though. He and Mance could be bandmates!

Hello everyone! Excited to play with you all. I've played briefly with Jabes and Aquafina on different occasions and chatted briefly with Data on discord, but I'm excited to get to know you all a bit better through play.

I'm not sure if you all saw my character concept in the Games Tavern thread, but I'll repost here for better reference.

Definitely! Bagpipes would be the ultimate War Cry! And I'm sure Mance has composed a concerto for flaming bagpipes with Bonepipe in mind 😆

Character Info:
Name: Mance Pyro
Age: Late 40s
Pronouns: He/him/his
Race/Class: Human Bard
Background:
Mance grew up in Nohme as a child, then left to travel the world, becoming a renowned bard, and now returned upon hearing about Nohme's dire situation in order to help. He probably still has some relatives and friends there. He's an expert musician/composer/conductor, magician, performer, sailor, and captain. He has lots of travel experience but otherwise is a relatively inexperienced adventurer (explaining why he's only level 1). He's never pursued dangerous endeavors into the unknown before now.
[ +- ] Mance returns to Nohme
[ +- ] Inspiration for 'The Symphony of Ice and Fire'
[ +- ] What's a flame-organ/pyrophone?
[ +- ] Inspiration for Ice Chimes
[ +- ] Inspiration for Mance Pyro's physical description
I'm definitely open to input and feedback about the character concept and willing to adjust it to fit with your concepts and the game setting/premise. So let me know what you think.

Race/Class: Elf Druid
Background/Reason for Adventuring: ~Might fill in later in more detail, but for now, he’s a druid from a local village not far from Nohme, and often acts as a courier/merchant for the village in relations with Nohme, buying/selling supplies/furs/rare herbs and whatnot. Game has been short recently, so he purchased some contaminated food supplies by accident, and now most of his tiny village has been affected by the Frigid Woe. He feels personally responsible, and has set out to find the cure for his people

I like your concept! I like druids a lot so I'm glad we've got one in the party! I think your hook into the adventure is great. Feeling responsible for helping spread the disease will be an interesting issue for your character to deal with.

@Data, I was wondering how you wanted to approach the druid's Shapeshifter move? Whenever I take an animal's form, the rules say,
Quote:
You have any innate abilities and weaknesses of the form: claws, wings, gills, breathing water instead of air. You still use your normal stats but some moves may be harder to trigger—a housecat will find it hard to do battle with an ogre. The GM will also tell you one or more moves associated with your new form. Spend 1 hold to make that move. Once you’re out of hold, you return to your natural form.
I think we can either create a list of pre-approved animal forms that I can take and you can make up all their separate special moves before we start, or we can make them up as we go.

My understanding is that all the basic moves like hack and slash are still available to my character when shapeshifted, but each form also has one or two unique moves (the book uses the examples: "call the pack", "trample them", and "escape to the sky") that I can succeed in doing automatically by spending a hold, without rolling. But there's no defined list that I can find

Yeah, it doesn't look like there's a defined list - I think we'll do a mix of pre-determined ones and then also do some on the fly if you have a specific idea. Here's a list of 10 animals in this area:
OOC:
Reindeer (Trample, Carry Rider)
Falcon (Escape to the Sky, Spot Prey)
Wolf (Call the Pack, Track Scent)
Hare (Dash, Burrow)
Mountain Goat (Climb Cliff, Ram)
Fox (Nimble Escape, Hide)
Lynx (Stalk Silently, Land on Feet)
Bear (Maul, Intimidate)
Owl (Silent Flight, Nightvision)
Orca (Escape Underwater, Sonar)
Those are the one's I think might be useful. If there are others you think of on the fly, we can figure it out then as well.

Sorry for the wait everyone, I was making these sheets up!

@aquafina I really love Teo's concept! The motivation of feeling guilty for being the one to spread the disease to their village is really compelling, and I'd love to hear if there are particular people from their village he's most worried about.

In any case, here is the DRUID Custom Character Sheet - the moves should all be there, just make edits based on your character! Let me know if you notice anything missing!

@Chalrytharendir Ooh, I really love your writing! You're really good at invoking feeling with your description, and I felt like I could visualize everything in your text even before I saw the reference images! I love The Symphony of Ice and Fire - and I wonder if we can use that as the ship that takes the group to Eiselcross? The first stretch of the journey is by ship, and while one would normally be provided, it wouldn't be nearly as interesting as this one.

Mance already sounds like a very interesting character, and I'm excited to see how he fairs on his first 'dangerous' adventure! Here is the BARD Custom Character Sheet - the moves should all be there, just make edits based on your character! Let me know if you notice anything missing!

@Jabes.plays.RPG I am SO excited to meet Bonepipe! Let me know which class you would prefer him as and I'll draft up the sheet, but I was honestly physically incapable of seeing a class called "Immolator" and not immediately looking it up, so I have that character sheet on standby here for the moment:

If anyone has any questions, please let me know!

Awesome! I'll start filling out my sheet and will submit it when I'm done.
Dec 19, 2021 5:56 pm
Also forgot to mention, taking "The Symphony of Ice and Fire" as our ship to Eiselcross is a great idea! I was hoping we might. I think it'll be fun to learn more about the ship and use it in at least part of the adventure.

Holy crap! Those characters sheets are beautiful, thank you so much!! I filled out some of it, but still have some things to set in stone (backstory, looks, some moves choices, and bonds). I should have time either later today or tomorrow night :) I submitted the rough draft of the character sheet to the game

Sorry, I missed this post! Thank you! Mance seems like a fun and interesting character too!

Im not sure how exactly to approach the Bonds, do we create those with NPCs or with the other player characters?

It will be with the other player characters and you only need to choose one - though with a party of 3 having one for each may be worth it. I think what we’ll do those collectively here after we have a good idea of each other’s characters.

Ah ok sweet, I will finish the initial concept soon! :)
Dec 20, 2021 1:29 am
I believe Teo and his character sheet is ready to go (except for the Bonds of course)! I updated my earlier post with his full backstory and whatnot :)
Dec 20, 2021 7:29 am
Submitted my Character Sheet
I made it public, so Aquafina and Jabes can see it too.

I made one adjustment from the default options. He sort of has 3 instruments:
Quote:
Instrument: (2 weight, 1 armor)
-The Symphony of Ice and Fire, as conductor. Must be onboard with the crew ready and able.
-When off-ship, portable travel flame-organ: Looks like a shield made of pipes in one hand and a torch in the other. And he can also play his own dreadlocks as ice-chimes
This gives me a shield (1 Armor) and a torch, but to "pay" for it I bumped the Instrument weight from 0 to 2 and under "Defenses" I took the 0 Armor option, so I don't have more armor than a typical 1st level bard can have. I think that seems fair: 1 weight for 1 armor seems consistent and 1 weight for a very useful tool (like a torch), most other tools/items are 0 weight.

I thought this was more thematic for Mance. If you think I need to adjust it slightly to be more fair/balanced, let me know.

For Bonds I choose these:
Quote:
This is not my first adventure with Bonepipe.

I sang stories of Teo long before I ever met them in person.

I am writing a flaming-bagpipes concerto for Bonepipe.

Teo trusted me with a secret.
Let me know what you think.

Still working on picking an avatar.
