**Ilori takes a moment to kindly thank Venia for her surprise gift.**

Hmm, while we might be more prone to encounter another attempted ambush by going around it, I have a rather bad feeling about going directly through Shatterpoint Gorge. My vote is for going around it.
OOC:
Since you had Dalaran make a second History roll, I will go ahead and roll twice here.
CosmicKeyring says:
Ilori and Dalaran
Having finished binding her wounds, Venia retrieves a few items from the back of the cart, specifically two small bows that she hands off to each of you, and a large paper scroll that she unrolls in front of you two.

"So here," she points at a symbol on the eastern side of the map resembling a charcoal crown. "Is the Krucks Mining Company, our destination. After that little detour, we can either head directly there through Shatterpoint Gorge," She points out a large area of the map that resembles a series of spiderweb cracks with a large hole in the center. "Or we could cut a path around it. It's safer terrain, but we'd be more likely to run into another ambush."
OOC:
You each have received a shortbow and 20 arrows. Also, each of you make a History check about those proper nouns if your character might know of them.

Shouldering the bow and attaching the quiver to his belt, Dalaran offer a deep but strangely stiff bow. "Thanks for this gift friend, been a while since I've used one, but hands don't forget."
Aug 17, 2016 4:27 am
"As luck would have it, the resident pit champion is a," James pauses for a second. "Friend? Probably not the word. She doesn't always want to break my arms, at least, so she's willing to come along even if it means delaying celebrating another victory." He then turns to Grevvn. "Speaking of which, you held your own well enough in there, so I'll be taking you along with us. We can always use more muscle out there."
Aug 23, 2016 12:10 am
Grevvn smirks "Oh yeah? Pay good?" He flexes before his new potential companions "Muscles and skill like this don't come cheap y'know
Aug 23, 2016 6:00 pm
"Well, let's see. Other than the slim possibility of something of value actually popping up out there, you'd actually do something to pull your weight other than giving Winnie another punching bag. So you wouldn't be kicked out to fend for yourself. Or you can wait for Steelskin to come around and talk to you about it, and he's not as pleasant as I am."
Aug 31, 2016 3:15 am
Grevvn pauses taken aback at such blunt treatment before smiling broadly Well, why didn't ya SAY ya needed muscle to watch yer back! he looses a deep, booming laugh clapping both of his new found friends on the back, nearly hard enough to send the halfling sprawling Course you need someone like me it can get awful dangerous outside th' walls he starts walking toward the gates, scraping the wrist blades along the wall as he goes repeating Awful dangerous with unnerving good cheer
Sep 3, 2016 3:16 pm
For the second time in five minutes, Finneas finds himself tumbling forward and catching himself against a pillar. He watches Grevvn leave, smiling nervously to himself. "Yes. Awfully dangerous," he mutters to himself, more amused to annoyed. "I can hardly wait."

Desert Group
Neither of you know much about the mining company itself, but Dalaran has heard of Shatterpoint Gorge before. No one knows what made it, possibly the impact of some huge object that disappeared one day, but the formation itself is one giant hole in the rock, a near-perfect circle with spiderweb cracks radiating out from it. It's dangerous to cross if you aren't careful, but it's a much faster trip than taking the long way around.

Venia pets one of the lizards before climbing back into the driver's seat. "Then we'd best be off then, I think. Don't want to be caught out here once the suns set."
OOC:
And now to roll to see what happens…

Refinery Group
After about an hour of gathering any gear you'll be taking with you on this trip, you meet up in the garage at the truck that's more or less reserved for James, a similar grapple-cannon model, more heavily-armored with some spiked bits along the front and sides. Road Warrior is painted in red on the driver's side door. The mechanic is nowhere to be seen, though he has left behind a toolbox with some supplies inside, a duffel bag containing some medical equipment, and a note that reads James; try not to crash it this time! -Fox, along with the keys.

Winona has already arrived and is looking through all this stuff, her own bag loaded up in the back. There are two hatchets hanging from her belt, as well as a shotgun that looks far too big for her to use slung across her back.
Badic Ironforge is late. Of course, the fact that the goliath only told him about this mission ten minutes ago didn't help, but the fact remains that he is late. The dwarf has been stopped at the refinery for a few days to resupply, and as with everyone else, he has been drafted into a scavenging run. As such, he has been spending those ten minutes running around and gathering what he needs, his pet coyote lagging behind him. He stumbles into the garage only a few minutes after James and his group have assembled.

"Ugh. I hate driving," James says as he steps up into the truck to retrieve the keys. "Hey, Winnie. Don't suppose I could persuade you to drive this time around?" The smaller human doesn't even need to look up at James for him to know she's scowling at him. He quickly jumps out of the truck bed and hops in the drivers seat, turning the keys and hearing the engine roar to life. "Everyone ready to head out?"
Sep 17, 2016 8:03 pm
Sounds like Shatterpoint Gorge is the path to take then, but we are definitely going to need to be careful...

*Ilori makes sure her new bow and arrows are ready to use at a moment's notice.*

Grevvn stands toward the back of the group smirking smugly and flexing. Sure, let's go. The sooner we're out in the desert the sooner I can show ya why they pay me the big bucks.
Sep 18, 2016 6:06 am
Finneas silently climbs aboard the truck, feeling slightly apprehensive, and trying not to show it.

Hrmph!

*Badic stuffed the last few bits of equipment into his dusty leather rucksack, taking care to fold the several sheets of notepaper he'd been sketching his latest designs on, and store them in the back panel. He reach out to grabbed his ammo pouch from the nearby chair and fixed it to his belt, before slinging the rucksack over his broad, stout shoulders. Badic turned, and picked up his sidearm from the table, his fingers dancing lightly over the polished metal barrel. He had been in the middle of cleaning the fine weapon when the Goliath, who's name Badic had never bothered to learn, offered him a place on the salvage team. He muttered to himself as he made his way to the garage.*

"Bloody 10 minutes notice! They could have given me more time. Gah!

Neveah! Here girl!

Calusa; a sandy-skinned, giant lizard, uncurled from her spot under the desk, and stretched out, easily 7 feet long from nose to tail. Her long tongue flicked out to taste the air, and she tilted her head in Badic's direction, looking at him with a longing that asked only 1 question.

"Oh here", *Badic growled, handed her a strip of chewy, dried meat*. "Make it last you, I have no more until we get paid for this trip!"

*He reached over and scratched her under her jaw, then started to jog through the corridors of the refinery, hoping he wasn't too late and missed the truck.

Badic pushed his way through the swinging door, and into the parking garage. He was a stout fellow, with broad shoulders characteristic of his race. His skin was tanned, almost leathery from time spent in the searing desert sun, and hair and beard were a deep mahogany brown that framed his face and ruddy cheeks. Stepping into the garage, he stopped to take a breath, hands on knees, before casting his gaze around the carpool. A moment later, Neveah scurried in behind him*

Waiting to hear the results of starting our travel into the Shatterpoint Gorge area... :(

Team Desert
A short time later, your map indicates that you should be getting close, and in fact should be seeing the crater any moment now. But as you crest the hill… nothing. There is a cluster of buildings in the distance that you assume to be your destination, but Shatterpoint Girge is nowhere to be seen.

Team Rodney
Badic doesn't see much in the garage as most of the vehicles have been taken out on run already today, but there are a few mechanics running around preparing to receive cargo or working on damaged trucks. There is one truck still in its spot however, manned by a half-orc, a halfling, and two humans. Presumably this is your ride.

Somewhat surprised about the timing Dalaran chortles, That was quite quick friend, I was expecting longer. Excellent guiding.

*Ilori looks over at Venia, her expression showing her confusion and curiosity about the missing land feature...*

Catching on to Ilori's confusion, You seem confused friend. Is Shatterpoint Gorge missing? Should I be concerned?
Jan 19, 2017 1:03 am
"Well, yes. When an entire region is named for the giant crater in the middle of it, the crater not being there is bound to be a point of concern."
Jan 19, 2017 5:02 pm
I think we all should be concerned at this point! Something is very wrong here!
