"Let's head on, then," says Zangua. He holds the catchpole in front like a ward, and proceeds up the stairs.

The stairs lead up to another circular room of the same size. There is an exit to the south.

An old knapsack lies on the ground here.

There are no other exits than the stairs, right? Let's go up!

Zangua takes position near the south exit, securing access while the others arrive (and possibly inspect the backpack).

Mordred percepts the backpack.

Is this a visual inspection only, or are you handling the backpack?
Jul 22, 2016 6:09 pm
Mordred is naturally wary of traps or other hidden dangers, so he merely looks at the backpack for now, first from a distance, then close-up.
Jul 22, 2016 7:07 pm
The backpack looks to be about half-full. There's some mildew on it.
Jul 22, 2016 7:30 pm
"You think it belongs to the fellow downstairs?" Zangua asks, rhetorically.
Jul 25, 2016 4:03 pm
Mordred will see if he can get a look in the pack without getting too close - opening the flap with the tip of his rapier, or similar. Nasty buggers can make nests in stuff like that, so he's being cautious.

Everybody make a Perception check.

Perception check!

*looks carefully*

ETA: Bwahahahaha. I s2g Mordred is the least perceptive character I have ever played.

Zangua tries to peer into the darkness. It's a bit difficult with all the moving-around Felor does, as the light from his spear shifts to and fro.

By the old gods and the new, please let Mordred find a pair of +4 Spectacles of Perception.

Why is Mordred looking over there?

A little glint in at the edge of his vision catches Shamush's eye. He walks over to it.

High up on the wall, set into a little niche, is a glass orb painted like an eyeball, life-size.

Meanwhile, Zangua notices that as soon as Mordred looks away from the backpack, it seems to just barely perceptibly move.

Zangua turns his attention to the backpack. He levels the catchpole at it, holding the business end out while in a balanced stance. "Something moved," he mutters, poised to launch his weapon at the first sign of a threat.
Jul 26, 2016 4:32 pm
"Try and pick up the pack with your pole, Zangua. See if you can kind of tip whatever is inside it out."
