OOC:
Is the skeleton leaving to the south?
Aug 5, 2016 5:06 pm
Yes, it came from the south, then turned and went back south.
Aug 5, 2016 5:11 pm
Zangua looks back at the party (at least, those he can see) with a question in his eyes. "Well, we need to keep heading south, right?" he finally says, and jogs off after the skeleton.

Do you have your own light source, or are you relying on Felor's spear?

OOC:
Felor's spear!
As Zangua reaches the edge of Felor's light, he becomes aware of his own lack of vision, and slows.
Aug 8, 2016 4:09 pm
I'll give him a dungeon-masterly nudge...

Felor edges forward behind Zangua a bit, the glow from his spear just barely illuminating more than a dozen skeletal faces lurking in the room at the end of the hallway.
Aug 8, 2016 4:33 pm
"Oh sh-," snorts Zangua. "Trouble!" he calls out over his shoulder. Motioning Felor to follow, Zangua backs up, keeping an eye forward in case the skeletons charge.
Aug 8, 2016 10:30 pm
Vad rushes to join the others, but keeps a respectable distance as he see Zangua and Felor backing up. "What is it?"
Aug 8, 2016 10:39 pm
The xylophone beats start up again, and with a chorus of rattling and stomping, the skeletons start to charge into the hallway.

Is Mordred hidden from that previous Stealth roll?

I won't be around the computer much today, so assuming that 23 is good enough to win initiative, and assuming Mordred is hidden from the skellies as they rush in...

Mordred waits until one of the skeletons has its back to him and strikes with his rapier.

Leth's eyes widen at the sight of the seemingly living bones. He's heard a tale or two of sentient skeletons before, but had never seen it himself... And now that he has, he finds himself a little more shaken than he would care to admit. He levels his prepared arrow at them, but waves it around for a moment, trying to pick a good target, before asking,

"So, uh... What do I aim for? What powers these things? I don't see any vital organs; would it die if I put an arrow through its skull?"

Shamush unlimbers his ugly club and hefts his shield. He cranes his neck to get a look at the oncoming assailants. He wonders aloud to Felor, "So how do you kill something that's already dead? Seems like something you might know, being a religious man and all."

Rolls

Initiative - (1d20+2)

(19) + 2 = 21

Combat order, tier 1: Mordred, Leth, Shamush, Zangua
Tier 2: Zora
Tier 3: Skeleton vanguard
Tier 4: Vad, Felor (assuming Felor is on sabbatical until he checks in)

More skeletons will pour into the hallway next round! Remember that fight scene from Oldboy?

Mordred flattens himself against the wall as seven skeletons charge into the hallway, each one carrying a stone weapon and wearing a tattered cloth bearing a person's likeness. As one passes him, he turns and thrusts his rapier between its ribs and wrenches it around. The ribs crack, and whatever spirit animates the bones seems to depart as the skeleton clatters to the floor.

Leth, Shamush, Zangua, you're up!
Aug 9, 2016 5:01 pm
Using the extended reach of his catchpole, Zangua waits until the nearest skeleton approaches close enough and thrusts the bladed end forward. He presses his attacks to keep the skeletons in the hallway, hoping the confines prevents them from flanking the party. Another thrust of the glaive-like weapon, followed by a spin as Zangua brings the blunt end around to club another skeleton.

Rolls

Opportunity attack (Polearm Master feat) - (1d20+7, 1d10+5)

1d20+7 : (8) + 7 = 15

1d10+5 : (5) + 5 = 10

Regular attack, Damage - (1d20+7, 1d10+5)

1d20+7 : (3) + 7 = 10

1d10+5 : (1) + 5 = 6

Bonus attack with opposite end (Polearm Master feat), Damage - (1d20+7, 1d4+5)

1d20+7 : (12) + 7 = 19

1d4+5 : (1) + 5 = 6

Aug 10, 2016 3:56 pm
Shamush makes a running leap to Zangua's side, his club crashing downwards on the animate boneheaps.

Activating Rage.

Rolls

Skeleton attack - (1d20+4)

(11) + 4 = 15

Skeleton damage - (1d8+4)

(1) + 4 = 5

Aug 12, 2016 8:14 pm
Zangua meets the charge with two thrusts of the catchpole. The first crashes into the lead skeleton's ribcage, tearing the bib portrait loose; his second thrust misses, but when he swings the butt end of the pole around it completely shatters his target. Shamush follows this up by knocking another skeleton's skull clean off, but the body remains upright and animated.

Leth is up.

OOC:
Aight, I'm back!
Seeing several of the reanimated skeletons fall lifeless - as they should be - to the floor after succumbing to his allies' attacks, Leth feels a bit more confident about fighting. Nobody has yet answered his question directly, and he's not sure how easy it will be to strike moving bones with an arrow, but he has one set on his bow already and he decides it's worth a shot, literally. He lets the arrow loose, aiming at the largest target area of one of the creature's "bodies" - the skull.

Rolls

Arrow no jutsu - (1d20+7, 1d8+4)

1d20+7 : (20) + 7 = 27

1d8+4 : (2) + 4 = 6
