Shamush growls in frustration at the collective undead impediment and swings harder at whichever fleshless noggin happens to be adjacent!

So I'm gathering that this mass of skellingtons is unbreachable until with whittle it down some?

Satisfied at the apparent success of his arrow, Leth sets another one to his string. The first may not have out right dropped his victim, but it had certainly done damage, and that was enough for him. Besides, with how crowded this hallway was getting, he preferred to stay at the back and attack from a distance.
Let the others attack from up close - they're better at that anyway. He thinks as he shoots at the furthest Skeleton away from the group that he can reliably aim at.

Rolls

Le Arrow - (1d20+7, 1d8+4)

1d20+7 : (7) + 7 = 14

1d8+4 : (6) + 4 = 10

Based on what Mordred sees/hears/feels/knows, are we talking about an essentially infinite amount of skeletons, and we need to figure out something other than just bashing them, or just a lot of skeletons, and we could conceivably beat them in a prolonged fight?

Rolls

Insight - (1d20+2)

(20) + 2 = 22

Perception - (1d20)

(17) = 17

You could push your way past the skeletons, conceivably, but it would subject you to opportunity attacks. You have no reason to believe that infinite skeletons are spawning, there's just a lot of them.

Shamush, in his rage, swings and hits the wall. Leth's arrow flies past him, lancing the head off of a skeleton at the end of the hallway. This one falls over backwards, into the glut of its compatriots. Still unwilling to crowd in to get to melee range, Zora tries jumping in place, trying to see over heads to get a better look into the room the skeletons are coming from.

The five combat-ready skeletons in melee range launch themselves at Zangua, Felor, and Shamush.

Edit: Zangua and Shamush each take a blow from the skeletons' stone blades. Vad is up.

Vad blasts one skeleton to pieces, but the other two stay upright, despite one losing a few ribs and the other its entire right arm to the onslaught. Five more skeletons push through the hallway opening to join the fray.

Skelecount: 22 destroyed, 3 damaged, well over a dozen remaining.

Edit: Mordred, Leth, Shamush, Felor, and Zangua are up. After that, Zora, surviving skeletons, Vad, new incoming skeletons.

After sending another blast of Burning Hands down the hallway, Mordred calls out, "I'm not going to be able to do that again without some rest."

Is the xylophone still playing?
Aug 26, 2016 6:42 pm
Yet again, Zangua misses with his first swing, but carves a skeleton clean in half with his next. Mordred spreads his hands and casts fire down the hall once more.

Edit: There was some extra-puissant magical oomph in that one; every remaining skeleton within range is incinerated. Your path out of the hallway and into the next room is clear. There are about a dozen skeletons inside. The xylophone is not playing at the moment.

Felor, Leth, and Shamush are up.

Rolls

Skeleton collective saving throw - (1d20+2)

(3) + 2 = 5

Damage to affected skeletons - (3d6)

(555) = 15

Mordred, God of Fire, smites the hellspawn!

"Go, go, go!" Mordred waves the rest of the party forward. "Now that we have an opening, let's get in there and see if we can stop them at their source."

Seeing the result of his spell, can Mordred take a Cunning Action to Dash down the hallway, just shy of contact with the skellies in the next room?
Aug 26, 2016 7:41 pm
Mordred follows up his fires of doom by dashing down the hall, over blackened bones, into the room beyond. This large chamber is diamond-shaped, 45' across at the widest points, with exits at the four cardinal directions, and a whitewashed ceiling decorated with a few spare geometric patterns. Thirteen skeletons stand before Mordred, portraits on their chests, stone swords in their hands.

Mordred sees something small slip into the darkness at the far south end of the room, out of sight.

Felor, Leth, and Shamush are still up.
Aug 30, 2016 6:09 am
OOC:
Is the hallway too long for me to catch up with Mordred and attack in the same turn?
Aug 30, 2016 10:03 am
Felor barrels through the doorway after Mordred, crunching over charred bones.
"My friend, Fjorgyn has surely blesses you on this day!"
Turning to face the skeletons, he raises his hammer high and calls out
"GREAT FJORGYN! SMITE THESE ABOMINATIONS WITH YOUR MIGHTY HAMMER!"
As he says this, there's a flash of golden light that's almost blinding in this dim cellar. One of the skeletons is suddenly surrounded by a glorious golden flames, and a few seconds later a radiant, spectral warhammer appears in the air next to another. The ghostly weapon immediately whirls around and smashes down towards the nearest foe.

Move up as close as I can to the new group of bad guys.
Cast Sacred Flame (cantrip) on one of the skeletons.
OOC:
The target must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take 1d8 radiant damage.
Cast Spiritual Weapon (level 2 spell, bonus action) next to the skeletons, alongside me if I have reached melee range. Have it attack.
OOC:
When you cast the spell, you can make a melee spell attack against a creature within 5 feet of the weapon. On a hit, the target takes force damage equal to 1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier.

Leth can make it down the hall and attack same turn.

The numinous hammer of Fjorgyn Felor calls into existence smashes the nearest skeleton into smithereens. Its portrait bib floats gently to the ground as bone fragments shower down around it.

Edit: The sacred flame, alas, flickers around the other skeleton's ribs but fails to catch.

Leth, Shamush, you're up.

Skeleton saving throw - (1d20+2)

Leth rushes after Felor and Mordred, bow at the ready. He is a bit taken aback as he rounds the corner and sees the mass of skeletons.

How many of these things are there...? He mutters under his breath, before drawing an arrow back to his eye, aiming at the nearest skeleton, and releasing the string.

Shamush snorts angrily and the weird look in his eyes gets all the more intense. He shakes his head, trailing frothy spittle and pushes into the fray.

Leth splits a skeleton's breastbone with a shot at point blank range while Shamush smashes another two to bits in a raging frenzy. Zora dashes into the room. "Did you see that? Something went out through there!" she says, pointing at the south exit with her spear before swinging it like a threshing bat at a skeleton that has shuffled up next to her.

Edit: Zora knocks the skeleton's jaw off and sends it sprawling to the floor. The eight remaining skeletons mill around listlessly. One of them takes a halfhearted swing at Shamush.

Edit 2: The skeleton's unfocused attack fails to hit Shamush. Vad is up.

Rolls

Zora spear attack vs skeleton - (1d20+3)
