Zangua seems clueless to the contempt, though aware of it. He is content to be a gawker upon these weird individuals.

"[Apologies,]" Domarc says, lowering his head. "[Men are all the things you say, but also curious creatures who sometimes need to be reminded of our place. I will ask our question and we will go and leave you peace.]"

He turns to the rest of the group. "I am going to ask about the missing Elven scholar now."

"[We seek an Elf by the name of Pathfinel, an elementalist. He lived here for a time, but left to return and be among his kind. We know it is unlikely you know of him, but felt it worthwhile to ask when we came to see about your welfare.]"

Zangua mutters in an aside to whomever happens to be closest, at Domarc's statement, "What in the Nine Hells was all that before? Some kind of elven hello?"

"[Of course we know of the vagabond Pafthinel. He lived for sixty years in Suprora, studying the root-lore of our elders.]"

"[Do not tell them of Pafthinel! What is it to them?]" the seated elf says sharply.

Her companion ignores her. "[Pafthinel traveled to Mez after he left us. Where he went after that, we do not know. Whether this was before or after his residency in Bload, we do not know. Of his current whereabouts, we do not know.]"

"[Thank you kindly for your information. Could you say what year he left Suprora? That would help us know if it was before or after he left Bload.]"

Domarc turns to the group.

"They know of Pathfinel, but do not know where he is currently; nor if the time he spent in Suprora was before or after he left Bload. It does sound like he is a bit of a traveler, though, so we might learn more of him if we encounter other Elves. I'm not sure there is much more knowledge to be gained here, unless you can think of a question."

As there is not a great deal of concordance between elven and human calendars, it takes a bit of back and forth, with some heckling from the elf on the cot, before Domarc comes to the understanding that Pafthinel left Suprora a little over two hundred years ago.

"Let's go." Mordred bows his head and leaves a stack of 10 GP on the bedside table. He hands another 10 GP to the novitiate who helped them as he heads down the passageway.

Zangua silently follows. He casts one final glance back, as if to memorize the distinctive features of elves.

Anybody else have any questions for the elves?
Nov 17, 2016 5:24 pm
Domarc thanks the Elves for their time and information, attempting to make small chat - usually not easy with an Elf - while waiting to see if anyone else has a question for them.

If Pafthinel left Suprora two hundred years ago, that's before he came to Bload - Martjan said he left Hazard 150 years ago. And if he went back to Suprora, it sounds like he would have been noticed, he thinks to himself.

Indeed, give me a Performance check.

The doorway elf grows more reticent to speak as the seated elf grows more and more vexed with Domarc's attempts to engage them.

"I think that's enough," the priestess says. "Perhaps you should be on your way."

Leth opens his mouth to reply, then stops and considers for a moment, and shrugs. "Essentially."

Huh. I guess all elves DO know each other. He muses. Although we're still not really any closer to finding him.

It's apparent that they have overstayed their welcome, so Leth bows humbly and begins to leave. (presumably with the others)

Zangua mumbles to Leth, "No wonder they live so long. Take 'em a year to ask what's for lunch."

The Elves of Suprora have a bit of a superiority complex...something I may have contributed to in the 1st Ed Twitter game pbo was running. So I completely get how I could fail a small talk check with them. I'm just glad I didn't get shanked.
I'm good with going

The novitiate walks you to the front door and bids you farewell.

A few steps out of the temple you notice somebody standing just beyond the obelisk: a man nearing his middle years, tall and fit, dressed in simple black clothes with a brown cloak pinned at his left shoulder and a brown garrison cap. At his waist is a curved sword in a black scabbard.

He waves to the party.

"So much for keeping a low profile in town." Mordred grumbles. He looks around for somewhere private they could meet with this person, both for their protection and his.
