Yo Trailhead! Welcome to GP, and yeah baby -- dig that list of games you're interested in! I've been resisting running a Forbidden Lands game here for a while now and suspect I'll break down some time this year and do it. Also, nice one on the little-known Jackals!

Now I have to figure out what Discord you're from, what user you are, and what game I linked...

It's inspired by where I live. We have a hill (small ridge) that is windy. 🙂
But I do hike and maintain a trail, and there are a few trailheads that cross the road I live on.

Many of those are popular here and lend themselves well to PbP. Blades in the Dark, though, struggles in this format.

Traveller is not ideal, but I am >so< close to running a game, but there are decades of rules for me to catch up on to get from 1981 to 2022. :)

'PbtA' covers a wide range. Which games interested you, and which have you tried. PbtA also covers many genres, what sort of thing are you interested in?

Forbidden Lands looks to be the ideal system for hex crawling. Wilderness adventuring and overland travel appeals to me.

Jackals interests me both as a setting (Bronze Age swords and sandals) and as a system ("Clash" system derived from OpenQuest where PCs and NPCs have clash points they can use offensively or defensively.) Very dynamic, but may be too "transactional" for PbP, to borrow your term.

Yeah, understood. Still trying to wrap my head around PbP. Brand new here on GP and have not yet played in any PbP games. But I am hyped about the possibilities.
There are many iterations but there are plenty of folks still using the original LBBs. Maybe Cepheus Light would be a good Traveller iteration to try PbP?? In any case, count me as interested if you do run it here.
I haven’t played any PbtA proper, only Ironsworn which is inspired by / derived from PbtA. I own and have read several PbtA games including DW and Urban Shadows. Would love to play either. But system seems well suited to PbP, is it not? I lean more SciFi than fantasy but I am open. I just want to play.

I don't remember the details, but I thing I would be inclined towards going with Traveller actual rather than Cepheus (not sure what Light is, though).
It is. Most of my games are PbtA these days because most of my games are PbP and I find they mesh well.
Fantasy is, by far, the most popular genre. SciFi can also depend a lot more on the quality of the group, it can be more varied in what people expect from it.

I mainly do Fantasy and (Modern) Urban Fantasy, but like a bit of SciFi as well, for a change.
