He sighs as the crossbow misses the target yet again. Expected, but disappointing nonetheless.
"Do I know anything about a "Tattterman"?" he thinks as he fumbles through his mind for memories. He skirts his way around the edge of the room towards the tubs, and heads down to position himself behind the Knight while casting a spell.
"HK XW." forcefully said, he taps his golden scarab against the Knight's blade on its backswing. "Apologies. I will remember to do this earlier next time." he says. The sword seems to shine with a certain radiance, despite not reflecting anymore light, and feels better weighted in the Knight's hand.
Move to J20, swinging around westward to avoid AoO.
Don't know what knowledge it would be to recognize the title;
+6 if Arcana, Dungeoneering, History, Local, or Planes,
+2 if other.

I can't believe I forgot to cast that before we went in! Elias has the benefits of Magic Weapon (+1 to hit and damage, might bypass DR).Move to J20, swinging around westward to avoid AoO.

Axon calls down a stream of icy meteorites , each one finding its mark and slamming into the creatures impossibly elastic skin. Strings of icy, white steam wick off the surface of its body and it throws it arms up to shield itself. It opens its mouth as if to shout in anger but no sound escapes its throat as a Axon's magic silences it.
In its distracted state, Grim lets loose another crossbow bolt, this one catching the creature high in the left collar bone with a sickening crunch all but confirming the cracking of bone. She reaches up instinctively to pull at the bolt but it is wedged too tight for her to do anything about in the short term.
Razhel lets another bolt fly as well, but this one sails off into the far corner of the room to land near Iosef's earlier missed shot,
Iosef takes a few steps around, out of immediate danger, but close enough to weave a spell into Elias's sword, empowering it greatly. The half-elf tries to draw on the furthest recesses of his mind to identify any knowledge or understanding about the "Tatterman" that the thing before them mentioned, but comes up with nothing. He is, however, fairly sure, after coming across several of these creatures, that he knows what their immediate enemy is.

Iosef recognizes this creature as a Doppelganger. While he knows they are said to have the natural ability to assume any humanoid form with remarkable precision and that they delight in skillfully infiltrating society, sometimes for years at a time, he believes that this particular one seems to have a magical knack uncommon for their kind.
In response, the creature slashes at Elias with its knife, the blade biting between the folds of his armor and dropping him to the ground. She takes a quick step back looking back and forth, unsure of where to go or what to do.

9 more damage to the enemy! Elias takes 6 damage, so is at -3 and bleeding out.Elias - you will lose 1 hp per turn until you either stabilize or reach -10 hp and die. With your next post, please roll a DC 10 Constitution save to stabilize, modified by -3 (for your current negative HP total.

Razhel adjusts her position and moves over to her left to block the clear path to door for the monstrous woman. They can't let her escape. Their getting beyond the barrier in the hallway south depends on taking this creature down. She pulls the trigger and unloads one more bolt into the shapeshifter's body.

Iosef, seeing his companion down, moves to treat Elias's wounds.
While the half-elf provides first aid treatment to the injured man, crossbow bolts streak through the air. Each bolt, one from Grim and one from Razhel, manages to punch through the monstrous humanoid's stomach. It tries to let out a wail of pain, but still nothing but silence echoes from its maw.
Axon calls down black motes of icy death. While some small pieces strike the creature, it shrugs them off this time without much concern.
Instead, the creature, now slumping and holding its off-hand to its wounded abdomen, lifts its long, serrated knife and presses the flat of the blade against its forehead. The air shimmers and the creature appears to disappear. A short moment later, Razhel feels a rush of air across her body. The skinchanger had apparently attempted to squirm past her without her knowing, but instead bumps into Razhel and is stopped flat in its tracks, rematerializing instantly.
OOC:
10 more damage to the enemy! It is visibly very hurt. Razhel gets an Attack of Opportunity against the creature for failing its acrobatics check to try to move through her square.Iosef has stabilized Elias. Elias is no longer dying. Because Iosef technically acts first in initiative order, Elias will be stabilized before his turn, at -3 HP. No further roll is needed for Elias.
Otherwise, everyone is up for Round 4 (unless Razhel's AoO kills it)

Presented with the foul shapeshifter in her face, as it bumps into her, Razhel growls and backhands the creature with her empty fist. The doppelganger slams into the door frame. The point of impacts with both fist and unforgiving wall ooze petrid ichor. Her adrenaline pumping and enraged by the creature's attack, Razhel stomps on the shapeshifter's head, then jumps on top of it; tears away the bloody serrated dagger and stabbing it several times, before realizing it is dead. "Tell ALL your friends we're coming for them!" She roars at the doppelganger's corpse.

Ixion's eyes went wide as the grisly slaughter took place right in front of him. He certainly wasn't going to tell Dragon Eyes to stop, that the thing was already dead. She'd run out of steam eventually.

The enemy crumbles under the intense blow from Razhel and lies now, after the carnage that ensued, quite dead upon the ground.
Searching the doppelganger's body you find a vial of bright red liquid similar to ones found earlier by Grim (a potion of cure light wounds) and 48 GP in coin. The dagger she was wielding is a well-made blade with a partially-serrated edge on one side.
The south end of the room, beyond where the sheet had been hung, lies a table with assorted items upon it. Further splashing can be heard from the large basin in the south-east corner of the room.
Iosef once again allows a burst of healing energy to blossom from his inner self and restore his teammates, and hopefully, bring Elias back to consciousness. Seeing it not quite doing the trick, he sets to work mending and treating Elias as best he can, given the resources available. Before long, the very injured Elias's eyes flutter open as he awakes.
OOC:
Everybody gains 3 HP. Elias now has 1 hp. Continue to build out your characters to level 2 - congrats on your victory! You now have the requested three bodies to display to the guards at the barricade. There are still some areas that have yet to be explored fully, including the table to the south in this current room.[ +- ] Map

Standing firm with his crossbow in hand, Grim gets a curious feeling that runs through him along with the aura of healing. Faintly, he hears something that sounds like muted whispers coming from somewhere on his person and after a very discrete check, discovers that it is coming from the small slip case containing his deck of cards. He pushes it out of his mind for the moment. A closer investigation can wait until he has a more secure and private moment.
As the others begins to become more active, he moves slowly to the south end of the room to see what might be on the table and keeps one wary eye on that vat where the sloshing is coming from.

Elias stands up warily and slowly flexes his arms and legs. Moving stiffly he stumbles over to the table of assorted items. Slowly he begins to look them over.

With the bloody blade gripped in one hand, Razhel glances about the area to see if she can find something to wipe some of the blood off her.

He flicked his wrist at the wicked blade, and the gore and blood on it sublimated away almost instantly.
"Much better now."
His eyes returned constantly to the dead thing on the ground as if he expected it to rise and attack them anew.
"Undead, whatever these things are, whatever else is out there in the storm... Such a confluence of evil. What nightmare have we awoken into?" he asked in a matter of fact way. He was scared but he kept it under as much control as he could, used it to fuel his survival instinct and his defense of self and others.
"Wherever it is, I'm ready to wake up... and that sloshing is annoying me. Check it out with me, Dragon Eyes?"
If she agreed, he cautiously headed over to the washing pails.
He flicked his wrist at the wicked blade, and the gore and blood on it sublimated away almost instantly.
