"How you feeling there Albert? Did the mold knock the fight out of you?"
Apr 13, 2022 6:49 am
"Hard ... To ... Breathe" Is all Albert manages to get out in between coughs. He decides to crawl backwards, away from the threat and tries to get rid of the annoying gunk on his clothes at the same time.
Apr 13, 2022 1:48 pm
''well Deoring, I guess there is only one way to find out. Let's try to get to Albert, he looks like he can use the help.
When we get there you can touch the staff and we team up before the other skeletons get to us. But if we want to try this, now is the time, the other creatures are on their way!''

Roald takes Deoring by the arm and nudges him in the right direction, there is no time for more discussion.

Deoring starts to say "Good idea" to Roald, but only manages to say "Goo…" before Roald jerks his arm and pulls him toward Albert and Dirk.
OOC:
Actually, that’s a great idea @Airshark

- Roald and Deoring -

For now, there are only two active threats: The skeleton looming over Albert and the its partner it was pulled away from, that has headed straight from the door to your position. Rook's improvised bomb has taken care of the two from the far door (only for now, but you don't know that).

These skeleton's are fast, though, so you will have to get s shift on if you want to get there in time to defend Albert, and avoid the one coming for you.

"Let go!" Deoring pulls his arm away from Roald’s grip.

"Let’s do this!" he shouts as he darts toward Albert as fast as he can, slipping a little on the mossy stone floor, but doing the best he can to stay upright while getting there quickly.
OOC:

Are are able to get to Albert (and interpose yourself between him and his attacker, if you want) but not much before the skeleton following you.

You will need to deal with two unless Roald does something to keep that one at bay.

Roald is surprised by the speed of Deoring's reaction. He hesitates just a moment before going after him. One of the skeletons is coming awfully close. Deoring manages to slip past it but Roald can not evade the creature. He turns his right shoulder towards his foe and braces for impact.
OOC:
first my roll to see if Roald doesn't slip on the rocks. +Dex and also athletics. Not sure how to modify for athletics, last time it was an automatic succes.

The skeleton being lighter than Roald is no match for his bodybonycheck. The creature is pushed flat on its back. Roald didn't expect it to go down that easily and lands on top of it. This causes more rattling and cracking. He lies there for a few seconds and a freezing cold makes him shiver to the bone. ''got...to...get...off..'' Roald tries to put his hands on the ground so he can push himself up. But the cold drained all his power. He rolls to the side, now lying on his back next to the skeleton. The creature is starting to stirr after being knocked out.
Roald, unable to move, knows he's put himself in quite a pickle.

You feel the cold drain the athletic prowess from your body. Every movement is a drag, and you just want to go to sleep. You know you have to move, and that sleeping now would be the last thing you would ever do. but it is so much effort.

Shaking itself to clear it head --you definitely rattled it-- the skeleton starts to stand.

OOC:
Strike out the Athletics Skill from your sheet, it will not apply to rolls, and everything athletics related will take effort. Getting a good night's rest will probably set things right.

Deoring slips between Albert and the skeleton, hoping to buy Albert some time to recover.
OOC:
Deoring feels indebted to Albert for healing him and for bringing him to Raynor.

I assume there's not time to do anything else "this round."

Albert looks up when Deoring arrives. Even though he can't express it right now, he's grateful for the help.
Apr 15, 2022 9:15 pm
Roald's teeth are chattering, shivers all over his body. He has to do something but it seems as if his mind is frozen too. Slowly his hand shakes towards the handle of his sword, he grips it as tight as possible.
With an awkward voice due to the shivers he whispers:'' Please Raynor, give me the strength and warmth to stand up and survive this fight. Let your fire warm me from within.''
Apr 16, 2022 4:05 pm
Deoring realizes that if he reaches for Albert’s staff, he’ll be turning away from the skeleton and leave himself vulnerable to an attack. But without Raynor’s blessing on his sword, he can’t really damage the skeleton. However, the skeletons do fall over if knocked down hard enough. If he can knock it over, he muses, that might give him a few seconds to touch Albert’s glowing broomstick staff and say a brief prayer to Raynor.

Still clutching the talisman in his left hand, Deoring shouts "Raynor’s fire, light my way!" then puts his head down and charges at the skeleton, hoping to bowl it over with a well placed shoulder to the skeleton’s chest.

Ram the skeleton! +CON - (2d6+2)

Whether it is the power of Raynor, or just your own sheer toughness, you are able to stand and face the enemy at the same time it is ready. You don't get the impression that Raynor --a god of conquest-- cares that you are tired and want to lie down, you are expected to overcome.

Rook panics a little as it takes longer than he thought to light the torch. "By all the black hells, where's a fire god when you need him..." he cursed, and the torch finally blazed. With the skeletons a dozen paces away, he hurled the torch like a spear - right into the gaping mouth. There was a hiss and then a boom as the spore exploded, and the rickety bones were scattered in pieces across the floor.

As the skeletons explode all over the place your companions all converge on the two standing foes... except for Asha, who cowers in place while being pelted by the now-flaming-and-flying bones.

The captain spares Asha a few failed words of encouragement as she rushes over to Albert's defence, but can not take the time to have a reassuring conversation. All she can do is share a look with you, leaving it in your hands as maybe you don't to want to get close to the skeletons either.

Roald fights the cold and the shivers, puts his sword point down in the ground and pushes himself upright. Only to stand eye to eyesocket with the skeleton. It too seems a bit ''off'' and is still recovering from Roald's push.
Think Roald, think, but his brain is working in slow motion. These are only bones, you KNOW all about bones
He remembers that the best way to sever bones is at the joints.
Roald goes down on one knee at the same moment the skeleton attacks. He swings his sword at knee height trying to deprive the skeleton from walking forever.

Alas, Roald's frozen muscles make him react far too slow to dodge the skeleton's attack. A Boney hand hits him in the head while he takes his swing.
