MY MAN!
[ +- ] BEST BENDING STYLE, COMING THROUGH
...Ahem, sorry. I have a bit of a preference, if you couldn't tell by the initial post xD

Alright, I've felt a stroke of inspiration and just let my fingers go after coming home from work today, so here's the game forum for you guys! I've sent out invitations for all those interested, I dunno if it matters but yeah, I got things ready.

I feel like there's a bunch of features of the forum I'm not using, but uh... I'll get there in time, I hope!

I'd like to play an earthbender, but I can wait and see what's needed to round out the group.

In regards to elements, we're only missing an airbender I believe? But, of course, you're welcome to play whatever you like, bender or non-bender.

Also, one thing I did forget to tell everybody until now (even though it's kind of assumed in-between the lines), is that you'll need the Genesys Core Handbook to play. Since this is an ATLA hack, it only really talks about the rules that are changed and what's new to the system, but stuff such as skills and basic combat rules are all detailed in the Handbook. I know, I know, two books, but I promise it's worth it!

I hope so at least

I see the game is public, so I won't join, I'll just check the forums now and then. Thanks for the invite though, and let it be known that I fully endorse Earthbending as the best form of bending.

Always glad to have another Earthbender on board too!

I have watched both shows multiple times.

I'm a bit late, but if you still have room, I am interested in a rogueish self-taught Airbender.

Is this set pre-Aang or post-Korra?

Also, I have been looking at the rules a bit. I'm very familiar with the Genesys/FFG Star Wars system. But is there a real difference here in fighting style between an Airbender and an Earthbender, mechanically speaking, once you look past the bending powers?

Yeah, for sure! I think I'll keep this thread up until we everyone has their character ready and we can start. Probably should decide on a deadline too...

Anyways,

Post-Korra. Refer to the introductory post for the forum for a bit of context on where we're sitting.

I'm not sure what you mean with this question. From a purely mechanical standpoint, no, it all boils down to making ability checks and applying either damage or special effects, no matter what kind of bender you are.

Each bending art has its own list of forms, and obviously, narrating an earthbender's abilities will be way different than narrating an airbender's abilities. I feel a good analogy would be the difference between comparing a cleric's spell list and a sorcerer's spell list in DnD 5e: it all ends up boiling down to making checks or saving throws, and adding different kinds of numbers to different kinds of stats, but the cleric has a more supportive and defensive set of abilities compared to the sorcerer's blaster caster identity.

I’ll toss my hay in if you’re still taking players. Is it possible to make a chi blocker similar to Ty Lee? She was one of my favorite characters from the original show. If not, then I’d go with an airbender.

Yeah, for sure. Should help us against enemy benders when then come up.

That said, with seven people, I feel we have more than enough for a full party. I'll close applications and let people finish their characters.

Due to one of our players dropping out, we have a spot open! Preferably I'd like to fit a waterbender in, but either way, we're open for another person to hop in.

If knowing the rules and game mechanics is not a prerequisite I would be happy to overtake the existing character and learn system while playing. You would need to guide me first week or two while I'm getting through the 200+ page rule book.
If I can't get existing character but need to create a new one I would rather pass - I don't want to stop your game while I'm deciding on character design after I read the rulebook.

I mean, they hadn't created their character just yet so you'd have to make one either way.

I just red the game thread and I see I have not missed much. I would like to play waterbender - if you are ready to help/guide me the first week with regards to what I should/could do, how I could roll, etc.

Sure! I'm a beginner as well, but we can get you in if you're interested in learning the system. As a note, it's probably better if you grab yourself a copy of the Genesys core rulebook, which this system is based off of.

I would like to let brotheboss join instead as i have quite a few games already. Besides I've realized I am not currently up to learn Genesys core.

Sure! If you're familiar with Genesys, you can go ahead and give the Second Age pdf a read, then just go over our game forums and we can talk about the character you'll be playing as.
