Chapter 10 - The Basement

Logan cautiously climbs down along the wire until it reaches its end, in what seems like a light-switch about half way between the top and bottom of the door. The switch is a push button as tall as Logan, and luckily it is encased in a frame that has a ledge for him to stand.

Logan still cannot see Alana in the dark. His call hangs in the air.

Meanwhile Cody and Alice are still on the other side of the staircase door.

OOC:
pushing the light switch will be a Strength roll with a target number of 7, so it will probably require the help of others supporting.

The web is just too strong for Alana to free herself up alone.

"I'm okay!", Al shouts back at Logan. "I landed soft! At least until the owner of this web comes to check up on me."

She looks around. "But we definitely found the way into the basement!"

"Logan? Al? You OK up there?" Cody calls, then turns to Alice still on the cooker. "Come on Alice, we gotta go find them!" he says shaking the rope.

@SvanDerh we need your Athletics+1 to reach Cody, then the two of them can roll 3x Athletics at +2 following the wire to regroup with Logan.

Logan looks up as he hears Cody's voice. Yeah, I'm fine. I the wiring leads to a light switch, which is great since I'll need help in flipping it. With the lights out, I can't see where Al is. I can here her though.

"Awesome," he says as Alice climbs like a cat to the socket. He withdraws the sticky rope and coils it around his back.

He points at the thick wire running along the wall, "we should be able to use that wire from here."

He sidesteps on the wire...

Cody carries on his wire climb... and manages to reach the top of the door, then follows Logan's voice down the wire and to the light switch.
"It's really easy Alice, follow our voice!"

Alice regroups with the others, out of breath and spooked by the dark room beyond the door, but happy to see Cody and Logan in the semidarkness.

Okay, now that we're all here, we can get the lights on. If we push at the same time, that may do it. What do you guys think?

Logan says as Cody and Alice join him at the light switch.

we'll do this as a Support roll. Alice and Cody will assist Logan with strength rolls vs TN 4. Each of their Successes and raises Adds a +1 to Logan's main roll (which is vs the harder target number of 7) .
Cody and Alice look at the giant light switch above them. The switch is as tall as one of them. They put their backs into it, and try to push it in the on position.

Alice uses a Benny, but Cody fumbles!
Cody pushes hard, but his hands, sweaty for the huge climb along the wire, lose their grip on the plastic switch. He loses his balance and slips from the switch ledge on which he is standing!

He falls a few meters down, but manages to grab onto a bit of torn wallpaper sticking out of the wall below the switch!
OOC:
Logan only has a +1 from Alice to try the switch. He needs a 7 to succeed his Strength roll, so bennies are recommended! We'll solve Cody's cliffhanger after that

Logan plants his feet and places his hands on the switch. Taking a deep breath Logan puts his weight into pushing the switch.

The light switch stubbornly refuses to budge despite the joint efforts of Alice, Logan and, we'll, Cody before he slipped and fell out of sight!

Now realising Cody has fallen, Alice and Logan call down from the switch ledge.

"I'm OK! I think... I grabbed something... Am hanging from it... Wait"

Cody tries to lift himself up with the sheer strength of his arms. In the effort, the matchstick that he had secured on his back gets dislodged and falls.

Huffing and straining, Cody lift himself up and manages to get on his feet, wedged against the wall with his feet on a slim ledge created by peeling wallpaper.

"I got it... But... I'm standing somewhere really narrow... Cannot move much" he says panting.

We need to get the lights on. That's the only way we can help the others. Logan says as he stands there with Alice. Hand on guys, I'm going to try and get the lights on. Don't go anywhere. L9gan can't help, but to smile at his joke.
