Just put up a new post that kind of addresses that. I don't really like to fill in characters' backstories for them so I've merely stated that your family is well known in and around Waterdeep and has been for generations. You can add (or change) as much or as little as you please.

How do hidden rolls work is there a way to hide them from myself so I do t know if I failed a roll?
Jun 23, 2016 1:14 am
Wow didn't think of that. It would be so cool if you could hide a roll from everyone but the gm.
Jun 23, 2016 1:18 am
When you make a roll you have several options under the "Visibility" menu where you can hide as much or as little information from the others as you'd like. As the GM I will see everything and you will always see everything that you roll. If there comes a time when I need a roll from you that I don't want you to see I'll just make it myself. Feel free to play with the different options here in the OOC thread to see how they work.

Rolls

Hide Nothing - (1d20)

(6) = 6

Hide Roll/Result - (1d20)

Hide Dice & Roll

Secret Roll

Normally you wouldn't hide the rolls unless I ask you to.
Jun 23, 2016 1:51 am
ok i was trying to make it so i don''t see my preception rolls

Colten has sentinel, so disengaging should still provoke an opportunity attack, no?
Jun 24, 2016 1:28 am
You are correct, Sir/Ma'am, sorry I missed that, just saw the first part and didn't turn the page. Doh!
Jun 24, 2016 1:39 am
I guess I'll roll an attack of opportunity here?

Rolls

Opportunity Attack - (1d20+5)

(3) + 5 = 8

Damage - (1d8+5)

(8) + 5 = 13

I think that's a miss. . .
Jun 24, 2016 1:43 am
Generally you would make all of your attacks in the main thread and describe the action in as little or much detail as you'd like. Still got your main action for the round.

(And yes, it was a miss)

quick question Szemely I want to put a dose of poison on Coltens sword, but the PHB rules say that it will only last ten min being that Kai is a master of poison I feel that if Kai apply the poison then use one of his candles to coat it with wax and then slip his sword in to its sheath it would hold the poison until he draws his sword and the wax is striped off. That being said I don't think that it would be fair to do this to multiple weapons and it should not last the full 10 mins would i be aloud to do this and how long do you think would be fair.

After you answer his question, I have one myself. I am really enjoying this group. I am doing one other D&D game but this is my favorite so far. After this adventure, how would you feel about continuing our party's story?

I have no problem with the waxing of the blade to retain the poison's potency until use. A couple of things though:

1. Poison ain't cheap at 100GP per vial - and a vial is only good for one application to a blade (or three pieces of ammunition). I know you character has a background that supports having/working with poison but he should only have a limited supply on him.

2. Candles ain't cheap - ok, they are super cheap, but your character will use one complete candle each time he coats a blade (or three pieces of ammo)

3. Poison's effect only lasts for 1 minute, not 10.

4. What is a Poisoner's Kit?
PHB says:
Poison, Basic. You can use the poison in this vial to coat one slashing or piercing weapon or up to three pieces of ammunition. Applying the poison takes an action. A creature hit by the poisoned weapon or ammunition must make a DC 10 Constitution saving throw or take 1d4 poison damage. Once applied, the poison retains potency for 1 minute before drying.

This is a good group and I'll leave it to everyone to decide what they would like to do should we reach the end of this. If a large enough portion of the group wants to continue on then that's what we'll do.

Getting to the end of this one will be a fairly long haul though... :-)

Yes I had the one vial and a poison kit so for now I'm out untill I can get some more and I had a couple of candles so I'm good for that but yes I don't want to break the game which is why I asked the question like I said this is my first game... Ever... So I just want to make sure I'm doing it right thanks 😃

From my understanding poisoner's kit only helps harvest poison/venom from dead/incapacitated creatures, such as snakes, wyverns, etc. That check is a DC 20 nature check though >.>
