Out of character discussion. Feel free to post anything here. Also any tips for DMing will be greatly appreciated.
Creation using 27 point buy or 4d6 per attribute - your choice. Show your roll results in this thread if using that method.

If you are going to play the game using real dice post your results using the ooc function and what the roll was for.

example:
OOC:
attack roll: xx
damage roll: xx
etc...
Discuss, if any, relation to each others characters. The default is you met along the road looking for a place to rest.
The campaign will begin as soon as everyone has built a character.

I think I've got my dwarf fighter put together. For the purpose of backstory and forming connections with other characters he's a war vet who used his wages to set up a tavern that he calls the Torn Banner, named for the flag he's got hanging above the bar, a captured treasure from the war. He's got an old war injury that's given him an ever so slight limp that's somewhat hidden by his usual swaggering stride.

Tol Blackhammer (Hill Dwarf Rogue: Guild Artisan Background) is a rather lithe (for a dwarf) yet well composed individual. Wearing leathers dyed a deep dark brown, and wearing a black traveling hood, he appears rather shifty. Yet to get to know him, you would soon be greeted by a jovial (again, for a dwarf) attitude and generous personality.

Should be an option "Post as: player" with a drop down menu, click on that and your character should be there.
Also, unless you chose thieves tools, you should have six proficiencies.

If you want i'll let you reroll that 8 and keep the higher of the two. Since locksmith is in the same guild as Armorers and finesmiths, if you want backstory with Izen, maybe Tol dabbled a bit in amor craft and made the armor that helped save his life.

That is very nice man. Any ideas of relation to Tol or Izen? Maybe one of the characters who haven't been made yet will be better suited. Or you can be a complete stranger who decided a group is safer than alone to travel when tired.

I think my Character would know Izen well? Since I'm a high noble he likes to spend some time at the best tavern around town getting to know the people. He's a real people person, he can go the whole 9 yards when getting what he wants when talking to people. But he love fire at heart! Weapon of choose is fire then steel sword.

The backstory in my head so far is ~Izen during the war suffered a close call that would of killed him but instead, thanks to his armor, only left him with a slight limp. After the war he set up his bar and being a war vet it became quite popular. Using this popularity he found the guys who made his armor to thank them for making the armor that saved his life, and found Tol being the only one to live (unless the two characters not made yet want to be tied to his armor also). Tol came into Izens' bar quite often, at first it was for hearing Izens tell the bar patrons how Tol made the armor that saved his life and in-turn be praised for his handiwork, but later he liked Izens company and became close friends. Hanson became a regular, as this new bar became popular, and used his noble status to draw more people to the bar. Izen, liking the extra boom in business, introduced himself to Hanson said thanks and gave him occasional discounts and became close friends. Hanson and Tol can be friends just by seeing each other so often.~ You guys can work out any kinks, things you don't agree with, want to change, or want to add to.

Looking to start the game at around 6pm pst, I feel that is enough time for you to iron out any backstory you want or leave it as is. Also gives mumphry a chance to work in a backstory or loan wolf it. If everyone is fine with the backstory and wants to start sooner I will start it as soon as everyone posts an ok.

An idea for your backstory and why you guys decided to adventure is the bar burned down? maybe by accident? maybe by a shady organization? Losing most of your funds in the fire you asked your close friends if they wanted to set out on an adventure to help get funds to rebuild (as of now, you find Gala wandering the wilderness alone and decide to accept him into the group so he doesn't have to fend for himself) they agree and you set out, wanting to get away from the town.

yeah i'm thinking it started when you were asleep(by what, who knows?) you were awaken by the smell of smoke and you grabbed the banner and were able to get a cask out, maybe you would of been able to get two but you had to wake up Namfoodle from his brewing cellar/ living quarters you had built for him.

This is likely over reaching, but as owners of the finest of establishments, we would (likely) have a mule and cart? Namfoodle has quite the load to carry around, all of his tools and such. As for whom burned the tavern, having either a shirked customer or jealous business owner burn the tavern down. It would give a decent launching point.


Additionally, I will be offline most of this evening (most Friday evenings at that). Its bars night.

@CNNWAS, You can keep the color text but can you bold it next time so it stands out more and post as your character as that allows me to click on it to take me to your characters page for quick stat looking. That might of been my fault removing it when I bold edited your post. You'll have to add it back.

No need to apologize CNNWAS you did nothing wrong. You only need to post as your character in the game form. If you forget, or I dumbly edit your post not knowing it reverts back to player, you simply edit the post and you can change it with the drop down 'play as'.
@Nega_Skell, is there a reason why your prof. bouns is only +1? You forgot to add your AC, I think it is 10.
@Kenny, why do you get a -1 on attack? never mind read the outcome wrong.

awesome if everything worked as it should you should be the only one to be able to read that.

The way I will be doing initiative will be either dependent on how the story is going or I will roll for all of you with the in-game dice feature. I feel this is the best way to keep things moving as fast as it can.

@skydut, The attack must use a finesse or a ranged weapon.
You don’t need advantage on the attack roll if another
enemy of the target is within 5 feet of it, that enemy
isn’t incapacitated, and you don’t have disadvantage on
the attack roll. Forgot to add sneak attack. go ahead and edit your post and add 1d6.

i only found the forum thread today, i apologize for being late to the game, Gala was created using the assign point method in the PHB, have smith tools and was apprenticed before adventuring. I intend to protect those with me and will stand together in the face of any odds.

Gala has the folk hero background and i wanted to make it so that he had been in a local militia and ended up getting booted out becasue he stood up and refused to attack unarmed farmers of a rival lord and so keeps with his protecting others theme. maybe he was some kind of security or hired hand at the burned down tavern?

Initiative is only for combat. You can post however much you would like, given it isn't one after the other, the one a day is a loose minimum meaning if it's your initiative order and you dont post within a day ill most likely let the other players move forward skipping or dming for you. I'll try to make it vague so you can have a chance to keep your turn if no one has posted. Like how i did with gala i said 'he is nowhere to be seen' and gave the other players the option to continue put you were able to post before the initiative skipped you so I allowed it.

There isn't a third tent, Izen and Tol sent up tents for themselves having the means to from the 5 days travel, Uruzall doesn't have a tent and just laid there while you two set up your tents. He was asking to be rude and try to bully a tent off one of you.

Here is a rough sketch I guess. Tol is about 20 10 feet from Izen, Uruzall, and Zidar and the tents. You guys came in from the left, the tavern is to the right. The tavern is about half a mile away.

Not necessarily, right now the camp might be fighting Uruzall and Zidar, but since we did that first and they are already sleeping they cant wake up and move to the tavern in the morning when you havent finished the night.

Welcome Sampai and Szemely, go ahead and make your characters, if you want create some backstory connecting the two go for it. You can read through the threads if you want or I can give you a quick recap.

As for posting frequency: You can post as often as you'd like but try to post at least once every other day*, if you can't post for awhile, be it a week or a month, give us a heads up here or the 'absences' thread on the main forum in general chat.
*Right now, we have a split party, so i'm waiting for them to entwine again, which is why one thread hasn't had a post in awhile.

As for race/class: They have a Dwarf fighter, a dwarf rogue, and a human fighter.

And to tie the two new characters in to the existing party you have the choice of 'meeting one group at the tavern' or 'meeting one group on the road' (You don't need to pick the same but you can if you'd like. Note: There is only one available room in the tavern so if you both choose that you'll be sharing a queen or one will be sleeping on the floor.)

You won't need to fight if he doesn't choose the tavern or he does and just gives you the bed. If he doesn't pick the tavern and you really want to fight over the room, I can have you fight another bar patron.

As for the walking group, you cant enter the tavern as the other group hasnt finished the night, so there could be a lull after meeting the bouncer, feel free to continue with talking amongst eachother and I can skip to the bouncer when everyone is ready.

My first thought would be to allow a reaction anytime before the round is over - as long as it doesn't effect any of the actions that had already come after it in a major way. Might be helpful for players to state a reaction they may take ahead of time (if I'm hit for X points of damage I'll use my reaction for...), although that's not always possible seeing all the crazy things that can happen.

At this rate Ramiel is going to die next round, considering that he will be dying upon the first hit, crit for two death saves from facehugging, then auto fail his third on his turn because he is currently suffocating.

I'll prepare an epic death scene for him. :)

The piercing damage was from the rats, they left, so you're just being dragged up. You are still currently alive.

The caverns ceiling is actually 20 feet, which is why you didn't hit it with burning hands, you were half way.

With the encounter now over, we will now be using group initiative from now on. This means you will be able to post whenever within your group. Going off the previous initiative as an example:
OOC:
- Giant rat 3
- Giant rat 1
- Spider rat
Group1-
- Ramiel
- Izen
- Tol(skip)
- Gala
- Béke
So for example Béke can act whenever within her group even though she got the lowest initiative. Here is a random order to explain it more.
OOC:
-Spider Rat: 20
-Ramiel: 19
-Izen: 18
-Giant Rat 1: 15
-Béke: 13
-Gala: 12
-Giant Rat 3: 10
-Tol: 6
Ramiel and Izen are in Group 1
Béke and Gala are in Group 2
Tol is in Group 3
You will be able to post whenever with your group. Your group will be decided by your initiative roll
Hopefully I explained it well enough, if I didn't szemely can explain it better he was the one that introduced the idea to me.

I might do that for monsters that are the same so in the random example Giant rat 1/3 get moved to 12/13(what do you do for decimals?) while the spider rat keeps its 20.

If they are dramatically different, or one is a big-bad (like the spider rat), then split them up. Otherwise, group them together :)

That way you can cut down on the wait time between posts.

The raised stone pretty much fills it up with a small walk way on one side, big enough for rats, too small to easily pass for people.

I chose the Folk Hero background. One of the Defining Moments includes "saving people during a natural disaster," so I'm thinking that my druid's connection to the natural world and observations of their surroundings allowed her to predict a flash flood and landslide that would have threatened the wood elf community. Her warnings gave the elves ample time to find safe haven and minimize the damage.

Normally she lives a life of seclusion, guarding and maintaining an ancient ruin (similar to a Hermit background). Today she has emerged from the forest and joined one of the elves from her homeland... for reasons I have yet to figure out.

How does that sound so far?

I'm not sure if szemely had a reason for travelling but the asking for help one could work. She could of told you to stay back while she investigated the camp. Seeing Béke was in no danger from the camp and given Silenes hermit-like nature she was reluctant to approach at first so she followed behind in the shadows but seeing the party come back from the cellar wounded, Silene decided Békes well being was more important than the chances of being shunned again or something to that effect. Or...

I think I will go with the angle discussed in notes, which is that as a druid, Silene divined the aberrations recently dispatched by the party and left her seclusion to investigate. Deep within her grove, Silene consults with the local fauna once a day to get a feel for the area (Speak with Animals spell), and reports of unnatural ROUSes would definitely skew the balance of nature. Additionally, the ancient call of the wild pulls at her blood, directing her to town and the Fiery Grog.

Arriving in the town, Silene went to the tavern to source the mutations, and found that Béke and friends had already taken care of it.

That actually works better, then. If the mutations are still present, all the more reason for Silene's desire for the balance of nature to be restored.

So, Béke knows Silene from the time that Silene had warned the wood elves of an impending disaster, in essence saving the village. Silene ends up in the bar for unrelated reasons and Béke catches a glimpse of her as Sylana Vallejo talks to the party.

No, ritual spells have the same effects, but they take 10 minutes longer to cast and do not use up a spell slot. The caster must have the Ritual Casting feature as part of their class to do this, and have the ritual spell prepared or among their list of known spells.

The only exception are Wizards, who just need to have the spell in their spellbook; otherwise they do not need to have it prepared.

I've been to reptile trade shows, where you can purchase animals, supplies, and the like. My wife was a one time officer of a local herpetological society, so we'd end up at quite a few of the things in our region.

Up to you man. In my games I generally did a system where if the players passed a related skill check or spent enough time/action with an item I'd tell them what it does.

Oh I probably won't do notes, your character might not have a need for the item so you pass it off to someone else, i'd have to post the info again. I meant should there be a separate thread, so you can know what the item does without having to go back 3 pages to find what it does again.

Question about Izen, his max hp is 13, he took 4 from the skeleton, 8 from the stalactites, 8+4=12. On his character sheet it says he only has 8 hp. Am I missing something or did Izen survive with 1 hp?

Technically no but I'd give you advantage on the roll being they are underground cave dwellers. However, Ramiel got a pretty good roll to learn about them a few pages back.

Here is what Ramiel found with his roll.

The darkmantle is a squid-like dark-skinned creature and a subterranean predator that attacks by dropping onto its prey. Though small creatures, darkmantles are strong for their size, and make natural grapplers due to their tentacles and cloak-like skin. Typically attacking by dropping from above, a darkmantle that misses will usually fly back up to the roof of its chamber and try again. They have a blindsight of 60 feet and relies on echolocation.

This is where my confusion comes from, not sure what the difference is.
Scroll: Any creature that can understand a written language can read the arcane script on a scroll and attempt to activate it.

Spell scroll: A spell scroll bears the words of a single spell, written -a mystical cipher. If the spell is on your class's spell list you can use an action to read the scroll and cast its spell without having to provide any of the spell's components Otherwise, the scroll is unintelligible.
If the spell is on your class's spell list but of a higher level than you can normally cast, you must make an ability check using your spellcasting ability to determine whether you cast it successfully. The DC equals 10 + spell's level. On a failed check, the spell disappears from the scroll with no other effect.

My interpretation is that anybody that can read can attempt to activate a spell scroll. However, unless they are a spellcaster and the spell is from their class's spell list, the attempt will fail.

Okay, I guess we can rule it, using the scroll of silence for an example: Anyone can cast it if they make the DC 12 (perhaps higher if they have low arcana?), if they fail, and they aren't a bard, cleric, or ranger the spell disappears from the scroll with no effect. If they fail and they are a bard, cleric, or ranger they get another chance or something.

I'll change my previous post and hand the scroll off to someone else. . .Because technically, you cannot cast a spell scroll that is not in your spell list (as far as I know, in that instance the more specific ruling overrides the previous one).

Well, I'm fine with using the home-ruling, although in this situation it doesn't do much, because you have a cleric. But if you find a ranger only spell scroll for example, it won't be a useless piece of paper.

Welcome aboard, Mcneils, feel free to read through the story so far if you want. The main gist is the current party was hired to exterminate a couple rats in a taverns basement but found a secret underground tunnel, that they are now exploring. Feel free to tie your backstory in with any of the current party or be a lone wolf. The party is still level 1, any race/class in the PHB. If you want to roll for stats, roll 4d6 dropping the lowest.

The subforum: Fun stuff is where you'll find the maps and party loot; more = to be decided
The main game thread is 'Game: Grab yourself a seat, friend.'
'Game: Grab yourself another seat, friend.' is used if there is a party split.
'OCC' is out of character acronym-ed wrong, which I do rather often.

Thanks for accepting me, this is my first game on here so it may take me a little bit to get my head round the way things are set up but I've played a few pbp games elsewhere in the past so I don't see it being too much of an issue.

Yeah, if I remember correctly Silene was a hermit of sorts. So if you were the iconic live off the woods ranger, you could of run into her a bit and by proxy Béke as well. It is up to them though.

Not so much the live off the woods type but prone to spend long periods in the wilds hunting undead, figured we may have crossed paths and maybe even worked together in the past....up to the other players though, happy to go forward with no previous connections to the party. Was thinking the character would be part of a militant High Elven order dedicated to hunting necromancers and undead so more civilised than the stereotypical ranger but still happy to rough it as the "cause" demands it.

I'll take a look through the new build tomorrow morning (it's pretty late here at the moment) and sort the character for review.

Silene lives deep within the woodland, outcast as a "witch" yet still consulted by the locals for whatever natural remedies, omens, or divine portents could be gleaned from the stones and bones. Typical "crazy old lady" of the olden times, except she's not that old, just strange.

Her residence lay in close proximity to Béke's wood elven community, though without question there would be other villages within a reasonable distance.

If your ranger often hunted in the woodland, no doubt he would have come across the druid, especially if his targets were undead. Silene could tell him about the surrounding region as well as what she may have discovered regarding his undead prey.

Finally, she might have mentioned to him in passing that she was headed into town for an extended trip. Birdsong tell of strange unnatural creatures and she's going to investigate. Could be that's his reason for joining the group.

I'm honestly happy to go with whatever would be the easiest way for you to get me in the game :)

Character is done and submitted now, everything is pretty much standard options from the PHB and UA Ranger article, only thing I did extra was to buy 2 x flasks of holy water but I'm happy to scratch that if you want me to leave off buying stuff until I'm in the game.

Well either way is easy, it will just take awhile as the party is in the middle of exploring a hidden cavern that no one knows about. So I can only logically introduce your character when they come up.

As for the holy water it is fine, it would make sense for your character to have some. Though, looking over your sheet, not sure if it's a typo but you put 110 gp. You can also put all your proficiencies and languages in the notes section. Makes it easier for me to find the feats/abilities that are more relevant and in my opinion makes the sheet look neater.
Something like this just to clear up your feat/abilities.

Armor: Light, medium, shield
Weapon: Simple, Martial
Languages: Common, Elvish, etc.
Tools: Vehicle (land), Chess
Dark vision

I'll go with the option that CancerMan laid out then, give's me a good in for the group that way.

I've tidied up the sheet as you suggested, definitely looks a bit clearer! Yeah it was 160 - 50 for the 2 holy water's (25 gp each in the PHB) so he's got 110 left.

Ooooh okay, I see what happened.
From the PHB pg. 143: When you create your character, you receive equipment based on a combination of your class and background. Alternatively, you can start with a number of gold pieces (ie. your 150*) based on your class and spend them on items from the lists in this chapter.

If your chose the alternative where you roll for your gold, your total would come to 211 gp 10 sp.

The light isn't completely disappeared, only a 15 ft. radius originating from the last location you saw of the darkmantle. The lantern is still on and working, so those without dark vision can see around the cave, however no one can see into the 15 ft. radius of darkness.

Silene would also have to hold her action if she is going for melee.

Pretty much any character you want. You can use one of the three common point systems
1: Roll 4d6, six times, dropping the lowest number (so if you roll 3,4,6,2 you would drop the 2 and the stat would be 13)
2: The standard array, 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8 put where ever
3: point buy system you have 27 points to spend

It looks good for the most part, there are a few things you're missing though.

Your initiative is -1
Your speed is 30
You have 1 hit dice that is 1d10

For weapons you could clean it up a bit
Name: Longsword - Attack bonus: +5 - Damage: 1d8+3
Notes: Piercing; Versatile (1d10)

Same for the javelins you can remove the to hit and move the piercing down to the notes.
Do whatever feels comfortable to you though.

I'd also move divine sense and lay on hands to feats/abilities, as they aren't actual spells. You can put your max hp in your notes, either to track the damage you've taken (12/12) or to have a reference when you take damage and heal (if you are using the Total HP, by the ability scores, to keep track of your health).

Alright my character sheet is all updated. On a different topic, I have been doing some research into 5e rules and it looks like I don't have to choose a God to follow as a paladin but rather just have a strong commitment to justice. If this is cool with the dm that would be awesome because there are roughly a zillion gods and I don't know what onelse to pick. Player's Handbook, page 82:

Although many paladins are devoted to gods of good, a paladin’s power comes as much from a commitment to justice itself as it does from a god.

Everything looks good, only thing I saw and it is extremely minor, you could of left the range on the javelin as it does have a thrown range. Regardless I accepted your character and hopefully can get you into the game asap.

There seems to be some confusion so hopefully I can clear things up. Silene killed both the darkmantles, who were cloaked with by darkness, then moved forward and saw three more, not cloaked by darkness and outlined by the lantern, about 30 feet away. The hammer is still about 60-70 feet away.

You have to make it known to me if you are moving. As the barrel has already been thrown, if you want, i'll let you use your movement to make your Saving Throw a normal roll. You'd still be taking full / half on a success / failure though.

PHB. 186: "A long rest is a period of extended downtime, at least 8 hours long, during which a character sleeps for at least 6 hours and performs no more than 2 hours of light activity, such as reading, talking, eating, or standing watch."

I don't think Trance replaces a long rest, it just gives you more time awake and aware. Explains it better.

Yeah sorry, didn't mean it would only take 4 hours for a long rest but rather that I wouldn't need a bed to rest in (just had visions of him satcross legged in the corner of the tap room for a few hours to get his 'sleep' in) the main thing I was querying was whether as a group we were taking a short or long rest - sorry if it implied something different

I am 1/2 Elf Rogue. Was thinking raised by human uncle, that taught him the ways of jewel crafting, but his curiosity and nimble fingers led him more into being a thief, and when he joined the jewel crafters guild, he was sent out to explore for some reason. Still working on this part, but can put together some ideas for us to have known each other. Will think on it overnight and PM you in the AM to sort it out.

Allister's Backstory -

Allister never knew his parents. He was raised by his uncle, a jewel crafter, that cared for him since before he was aware of anything about himself or the world. All his uncle ever told him about his parents was that his father was an elf and his mother was a human, and the two of them had found love despite their cultural differences. He also knew, from hearing others speak of him, that his father had been a wizard of some renown in the elven court, but did not know his name. His uncle would not speak more about his parents, and could grow quite angry if pressed, and the elves that occasional visited the shop looked down on him with disgust, which made him not willing to ask questions of them. Allister figured it didn't matter much, since he was here now and they were not, so he tried not to think about it.

As he grew up, his uncle taught him the ways of being a jeweler and helped him get into the jewel crafting guild once he had reached appropriate age and skill. Allister's smaller dexterous fingers, a byproduct of his elven heritage, allowed him the ability to work with the small gems and settings easily. Another byproduct of his elven blood was a wild curiosity that led him down the path of exploration through the city at night, sometimes into places he shouldn't. He was a quick study, and found he soon as able to get into homes and places of business with little effort, regardless of how they locked up for the night.

One day Allister was on a delivery to the local monastery for his uncle, when he was met at the gate by a young looking elf monk names, Solus Sol'Sineamos. For the first time in his life he met an elf that didn't have the look of pity and disgust intermingled in their eyes when looking upon him. As the monk escorted him to a garden where he met the head master of the monastery, they talked about life of a monk and the training required. Allister let Solus know that he respected his dedication, but a different life awaited him. He told him he was destined for a life of adventure - someday. For now he was preparing for the day he would leave his life behind and start a new one, maybe even making a name for himself that would cause others to view him with dignity regardless of race. As the weeks, turned into months Allister found himself returning to the garden as a place to relax and clear his thoughts (and on occasion hide from pursuers seeking him out for any reason). During those times if the monk, Solus was present they would spend time talking about how their lives were going and their plans for the future. The two of them, elven monk and half-elven rogue, became unlikely and close friends.

Solus Sol'Sineamos's backstory...

Solus doesn't remember a lot about his parents, but what memories of the little time (from an elven view) he passed with them will always be cherished. His parents were traveling when and after he was born so he never had the chance to see the elven forests his mother talked about so much. His father was a bowyer that traveled from town to town to sale his high quality bows. During our travels, he taught me the trade of a bowyer, how to drive carts, take care of the animals and how to shoot a bow. His mother trained him in the use of the traditional elven weapons and how to survive in the forest. They always wanted me to think they were simple merchants...but on the roads, during the nights, I could hear them speaking when they thought I was asleep. Speaking of something hunting them and that they couldn't stop.

One night near a small town, we were attacked by something (I never knew what...) but my parents manage to fend it off and we ran to the town. We sought shelter in a small monastery where my father, after having talked to the head master, told me I would have to stay here for my own safety. After a heart wrenching farewell, my mother gave me a silver pendant shaped in a leaf from a tree I have never seen, telling me to never lose it. Then they were gone.

In the years after that, Solus trained hard under the tutelage of the Head Master and on his own time he trained with a longsword, trying to find a way to integrate his the traditional elven weapon in his martial arts, with no success so far....
One day he had the chance to meet Allister, a young half-elf working for a local jeweler (his uncle), making a delivery to the Head Master. Having been raised on the road with his parents, traveling and meeting all sorts of people, Solus never considered Allister less for being an half-elf. Something he would learn later, other elves commonly did. In the following weeks and months, Allister came back often to find some solitude and calm in the gardens, away from the town, and in those moments if Solus was around they would speak for hours. Allister would tell him of his dreams of adventure and each time, when Solus went to bed, he would dream of being on the roads again..... And one day he decided that when Allister would be ready to go, he would not be alone...

Hit points in D&D5e are handled differently. If you are reduced to 0 hit points, you just fall unconscious and remain at 0 hit points. You still have to make Death Saving Throws.

Instant Death is possible, if the damage that reduces you to 0 hit points has damage remaining that equals or exceeds your hit point maximum (ie, if you have 10 hit points, and take 20 damage; reduced to 0, 10 damage remains, which equals your maximum).

Probably not for the same reason why you can't cast a spell as an OA without taking a feat.

I'm sorry to annonce I wont be able to post for an unknown period....My wife has not been feeling well recently and we just passed all day at the hospital.
