Atticus runs towards where the others are battling the creature. As he nears the river he takes a leap and tries to jump across...While it was a mighty leap, Atticus falls short and lands in the river.

Reaching the creature, Atticus swings his sword in the hopes of ending the battle.

Grom takes his Staff in hand, closes his eyes, and begins chanting arcane words of power. Of a sudden, the staff sprouts vines and leaves, and seems to resonate with primal energy. In an instant, the druid eyes open, wide and wild, and he swings the staff at the creature
OOC:
Cast SHILLELAGH: target becomes a +1 striking weapon while in your hands, gaining a +1 item bonus to attack rolls and increasing the number of weapon damage dice to two. Additionally, as long as you are on your home plane, attacks you make with the target against aberrations, extraplanar creatures, and undead increase the number of weapon damage dice to three.

Rolls

Attack with Staff - (1d20+5)

(18) + 5 = 23

Damage (if applicable) - (2d4+2)

(21) + 2 = 5

Grom's now magical staff hits the flying creature across the head. Its neck snaps in a uncomfortable way as it flies through the air and lands on the far bank. You are however not out of the frying pan yet. Igbork is lying in critical condition.
OOC:
Igbork you need to make one more death save, and then the rest have one round to hopefully save you. I will also award everyone one hero point. Think I will try to give out one at the start of each month.
Jun 1, 2022 9:30 am
Koram rushes to Igbork's side, "Hold on, friend. Let's get you looked at here." He kneels down and take out his healer's tools and attempts to stabilize and heal Igbork.

Rolls

Medicine - (1d20+3)

(3) + 3 = 6

OOC:
Did Igbork already use his hero point awarded at the beginning of the campaign during the mammoth hunt? If not, maybe now a good time to use it to divulge?
Jun 2, 2022 1:00 pm
Koram is unable to do anything with Igbork's wounds.
OOC:
You all got new hero points now anyway. But no reason to use a hero point before you fail your final death save. From the rules on spending hero points to stabiilze: "You can do this when your dying condition would increase. You lose the dying condition entirely and stabilize with 0 Hit Points." So never any reason to spend before you make the final death save, might just make it instead.
Jun 2, 2022 2:27 pm
The druid kneels beside Igbork and pours water onto the ground, shaping a small lump of mud into a pliable, claylike plaster, which he starts to apply gently to Igbork's wounds
OOC:
Grom is using Healing Plaster in lieu of medical tools and will attempt to stabilize his comrade with a Administer First Aid medical check

Rolls

Medicine Check - (1d20+5)

(14) + 5 = 19

Koram's own attempts to treat the wound do not seem to hold. When Grom slides in next to him with his earthy poultice, he's thankful. "Well done, Grom - let's hope that holds."

"Igbork," he says, "you're going to be alright, friend."
Jun 2, 2022 8:57 pm
Grom looks up at Koram, nods his head in acknowledgement and offers a smile that would look more like a grimace to a stranger
Jun 2, 2022 8:59 pm
Atticus moves over to where everyone is treating Igbork. Knowing his limited healing skills were not up to the challenge, he stands protectively over his friends.
Jun 3, 2022 8:00 am
You are able to stop Igbork's bleeding and he will live. It takes some time, but eventually you get him back on his feet.
OOC:
With no time pressure and no immediate threat you will get him back with enough treat wounds. Could take a few hours to get him back in top shape, but at least you've gotten him up on his feet.
Jun 3, 2022 8:09 am
"Alright," Koram says after seeing the poultice working its magic, "Good, he looks better already."

While their friend is recovering well enough for the return trip, Koram wanders around the small island, wondering what it was that those two creatures were up to and looking for signs they were hiding something.

"Haitith, would you look around too? You can sleep later."

The dragon raises its head from its resting spot on the ground. "If you insist," he says, "but if I awake you this evening for a minor request, please do not think ill of me."

Seems the creature were using the hollow log as a lair. Inside it, you see a grim sight, the crumpled corpse of a Kellid woman in hide armor. The corpseā€™s face bears distinctive burn scars. Atticus notices a small talisman affixed to the armor.
Jun 3, 2022 3:32 pm
OOC:
Can the body be removed from the log without damaging it further?

Do I recognize who it is?

OOC:
It is no one you know who is. They must be from another following. Getting the body out is easy.
Jun 3, 2022 5:30 pm
Hey! There's a body in the trunk. Atticus begins to remove the body from the trunk. Being careful and respectful, he examines the body at the same time. I don't recognize who it is, she must be from a different following.
OOC:
Once she's removed from the log, Atticus will look at the talisman.

Igbork stirs a bit after Grom stopped his bleeding. 'Tis but a scratch he murmurs while still keeping his eyes closed

The talisman is a ring of dried, interwoven leaves and upon examination turns out to be of a magical nature.
OOC:
You will require an Arcana, Nature, Occultism or Religion DC 16 to identify it.

OOC:
Nature it is for Atticus.
