Igbork gives a slight nod as he receives the worry Stone. He is very tired goes back home, right into his bedroll and is asleep almost immediately.
The next day he listens to Wipa's words with furrowed eyebrows
But what was this one woman doing there? I'd expect a whole scouting party to explore these lands, not just one person? Maybe they were scattered? If so, then by what?
Igbork looks into the skies and thinks about wether he had any encounters with the Burning Mammoths in the past
OOC:
Attempting a tundra lore check. Hope that's appropriate

Igbork can't recall ever meeting them, or heard of them.

Wipa
"They may send out lone scouts," Wipa replies. "One scout can move unseen where several will be seen. Or she could be on a walkabout, before my pregnancy I could spend days on my own."

"Just warning you that if you encounter them, they may be difficult to deal with. I have spoken to Imek, I think you can learn a lot from her before you go to capture the Tapirs."

Imek
When she gets no more questions, Wipa wishes you a good day and goes back to her duties. You make your way over to the mammoth pens where Imek is waiting for you.

"Hello," she greets you cheerily as she jumps down from one of the smaller mammoths, a homemade brush in her hand. "This is Fluffy," she pats the mammoth. "He doesn't like strangers, but if you feed him he'll warm up to you right away. I hear you are the brave scouts that has to deal with the Tapirs?"
Jun 16, 2022 7:27 pm
Exactly. Are they open to bribery in form of treats? Just like your mammoth? Igbork answers and smiles as he admires the girl's apparent bonding to the mammoth
Jun 16, 2022 10:19 pm
We are indeed. I'm looking forward to learning anything you can teach. You make it look easy. Atticus says as he walks up and speaks to Imek.
Jun 17, 2022 3:20 am
Koram approaches Fluffy and kneels, holding out his hand to offer a small palm full of grass. He looks up to Imek, "Same - please let us know how we might best complete the task ahead of us."

Haitith waits calmly some distance away, as Koram asked the eidolon to stay back lest he spook the mammoths.

Imek
Imek talks at length about the Broken Tusk’s herd, referring to each critter by name and describing their individual histories, personalities, and relationships with one another. She talks about how she met each animal and befriended them one by one until she had earned the trust of the entire herd. Unfortunately, the young girl’s lack of social graces makes the otherwise informative conversation entirely one-sided and utterly exhausting to listen to.
OOC:
Buried within Imek’s endless stories are nuggets of actual wisdom. A character who makes a genuine effort to listen can attempt a DC 15 Will save.
Jun 17, 2022 8:40 am
Grom listens intently to Imek’s rambling narrative. He picks out certain words, certain expressions, certain tales, that seem to weave a story of their own hidden in the thread of Imek’s recollections

Atticus listens to Imek and tries to pick up on the hidden wisdom of her words. Unfortunately it was all intertwined and he was unable to sort it.

Igbork slowly nods the whole time while Imek tells her tales, trying to discern what really is important information for the task ahead.
But each time he thinks he heard something useful it's really just another anecdote about an animal she once saw

Koram listens as intently as he can, soaking up whatever wisdom is on tap, at least until he realizes he's thinking about something else entirely and apparently missed the entire conversation. Damnit, Koram - stop day dreaming! he berates himself.

Imek keeps talking, hardly stopping to breathe all the way to the edge of the Tapir's grove. Once there she bids you goodbye and returns to camp. You can easily see several tracks, but it would take some expertise to find out which direction they're heading in.
OOC:
Grom, through sudden insight you learn the Tame Animal skill feat as bonus feat. The rest gains access to it and can choose it whenever you gain access to a skill feat normally. The rest of you also becomes Fatigued by her constant ramblings.

To track them, someone needs to make a DC 12 Survival check.
Jun 18, 2022 11:12 am
Atticus bends down and studies the tracks and tries to sort them out and make sense of them.

Standing up Atticus looks at the tracks going in a specific direction. That way...

Koram, tired now that he is after Imek's ramblings, follows Atticus as the man leads the way to find the Tapirs.
Jun 19, 2022 9:58 am
Atticus is able to identify the newest tracks, and can also inform the rest that there are two tapirs, and that they seem young and healthy. The tracks lead deeper into the forest, and eventually lead into a clearing.

From inside the clearing you can hear the high pitched whiper of a couple of tapirs long before approach. They seem agitated, and as you turn a bend and get a clear look, you see two tapir that are trapped in a couple of poison barb snares. Unless you take caution to mask your presence they will growl at your presence.

Atticus slows up and stops before the tapirs spot them. Holding up his hand to stop the others, Atticus point at the two tapirs.

Looking around Atticus tries to see if anything or anyone is also in the area.

You sense no one else around. Whoever set the snares seems to be gone.
Jun 20, 2022 6:29 pm
Looking around at the surroundings, Atticus shrugs his shoulders. I don't think there's anyone else around here. How do you want to proceed?
Jun 20, 2022 6:57 pm
"Grom, you seemed to grasp what Imek said better than the rest of us. Maybe you could try to calm the animals while we try to get them out of the traps?"
Jun 20, 2022 6:59 pm
Unless you were able to follow what the little girl Imek said I'm not really that experienced in herding those animals. I'd sneak up on them and throw a rope around their neck. Then we can drag them to the pen. Any other plans? Igbork whispers and yawns. The many, many words of the girl still echo in his head
OOC:
Was Igbork able to restock on arrows back at the camp?
