OOC:
Igbork will want to replenish his arrows

https://i.imgur.com/2MeO2JI.jpgYou wake up early next morning while the camp is just getting ready for a new day. You see more sentries than usual as the night shift heads to bed. You eat your breakfast before starting the journey to Rockloom where the Green Moon ceremony will take place. You know that out of reverence for the sacred site you camp several miles away.

Arriving you see massive, ancient stones rise like teeth from the soft earth of this ancient site, forming a rough half circle atop a grassy mound. Each stone is shaped like a different animal sacred to the Broken Tusks—cave bear, big cat, woolly mammoth, giant raven, and so on. The monoliths are chipped and worn, having stood vigil at this edge of the Gornok Plain for countless generations, yet all stand magnificent and timeless—with one exception. The last stone to the west, the Raven Stone, is broken off at the midpoint, its upper half missing.

Atticus walks into the clearing with a level of reverence that surprised even him. Approaching the Sabre-Tooth statue, Atticus bowed his head and whispered a prayer.

Once he's done, Atticus turns around and gives in to his curiosity. Approaching the broken Raven statue, he looks to see if he can determine how it was broken.

You do notice some tracks around the statue, but you also happen to step right into them, so you have problem making heads or tails of them.

The discrepancy in the otherwise pristine vista of the clans sacred totems is jarring, and Grom frowns and mutters to himself as he hurries to the western most megalith seemingly chopped in two.
OOC:
GM, can I make a Nature check, perhaps, to investigate further?

Igbork furrows his eyebrows. He knows about most of the basic rituals of Broken Tusk Clan and the other clans but he isn't sure what the significance of destroying a stone could be. A warning? A means to anger Sister Cinder? Could it be to hinder the Night of The Green Moon?
OOC:
So Igbork will think about wether the destruction of the stone is a simple act of vandalism or if it could signify something more profound...

Grom manages to see through Atticus' tracks and notice the tracks going north. He can also tell that it's the tracks of a barefoot humanoid.

Igbork cannot recall any significance to why it would be vandalised. Though the tear seems strangely straight. It don't look like it has been chipped off, just split in two and the top half disappeared.

Koram, with Haitith in tow, steps up and looks over the stone with the others, but tries not to crowd them. "Any ideas? The Mammoth Lords won't be happy to see it like this when the ceremony comes. We should comb the area and see if we can find any sign where the vandal came from."
Aug 27, 2022 12:19 pm
Igbork goes up to the broken stone and slides his hand over the top.
A clean cut. And the top is gone. This isn't an accident or vandalism. This was done deliberately in this way. That's a message... The question is what this message means...
C1NDER says:

I have no idea but I agree with you. We should comb the area. I also would be interested in finding the top...
Igbork draws his bow, ducks down into the grass and searches for the top half and possibly the perpetrator

Agreed my friends, let us spread out and search the area. Hopefully we can find the missing half and the thief who grievously insulted us. Atticus spreads out with the others and begins searching the area.

Following the direction of the tracks Grom found, they lead towards the small hill to the north. They disappear shortly, but luckily you are able to find them again near a boulder on the base of the hill. Igbork can hear strange high pitched crying noise coming from the top.
Aug 27, 2022 10:48 pm
Someone is screaming up there! I'll have a look Igbork whispers. He gets down and looks left and right.
Slowly he crouches up the hill on all fours, his bow firmly in his left hand.

Atticus nods as he hears Igbork speak. Letting Igbork move a few feet ahead, Atticus follows with his sword and shield ready.
Aug 27, 2022 11:35 pm
Taking his cue from Atticus, Grom also raises his shield. He strains to hear the scream that Igbork reports but when one no such sound reaches him, the Druid forces a finger into the canal of his right ear and wiggles it about.
Aug 28, 2022 12:49 am
Koram and Haitith follow Igbork, though slightly back amd attempting to remain unnoticed by any enemies.

Igbork, as you sneak up the side of the hill, you can see a small hairy creature balled up crying next to the top half of the raven statue.

He seems to be in too much despair to pay you any attention.
Aug 28, 2022 9:35 pm
Igbork points at his eyes and the top of the hill.
The he points at the others, at his eyes then at the surroundings.
Hopefully they get the message... he thinks

Then he stands up, puts his bow on his back but the hand on the sword and approaches the small hairy creature.
He harrumphs What seems to be the problem? he points at the top of the raven statue This yours?

Shaggy Shemven
The creature jolts up with a sputtering sound.

"What?!" he says sniffling, then dragging the back of his left hand across his nose. "It... It is none of your business. Leave a man to grieve in peace."

Those below the hilltop can hear the creature clearly as it seems he's never been told to use indoor voice.
Aug 29, 2022 5:40 pm
Grom hurries forward to Ignork's side as the creature asks to be left alone.
"Ach! Come now, you know what they say, a sorrow shared, is a sorrow halved."
Grom walks towards the creature and reaches out to give it an avuncular pat on its shaggy-haired head.
Aug 29, 2022 9:30 pm
Atticus moves up with the others and, upon seeing the creature, lowers his sword. Seeing that Grom and Igbork were speaking to him, Atticus concentrated more on keeping them safe. He keeps watch at the top of the hill.
