Those who move forward towards the horses recognize the mounts as belonging to Gundren and his warrior escort Sildar. The horses appear to have been dead for about day, obviously killed by the black-feathered arrows that now protrude from their corpses. The saddlebags on both mounts appear to have been thoroughly looted and an empty leather map case lies near by.

Suddenly you hear high pitched screams coming from either side of the road...

I'm going to need initiative rolls and positions (is your PC near the horses or the cart) from all of you. Also I'm returning to my normal work schedule tomorrow, so this will most likely by my last post until tomorrow evening.

Two screaming goblins from either side of the road set their sites on Gareth and Colton rushing furiously towards them through the thickets. Two other goblins, both from the right side of the road, pop up their heads, send arrows flying towards the cart, and disappear out of sight. The driver yells curses as he sits stunned, both arrows narrowly missing him, and taking hold in the bench besides him.

Goblins had the drop on all of ya, we now move to initiative order:

The two charging goblins are on either side of the road, closing in on the two noblemen (say 10' away from them).
The two archers are hidden.

Kai takes aim from the brush at one of the charging goblins. The tension on the string feel all to familiar he sights in on one of the charging goblins and releases.

The goblin charging towards Gareth never sees the arrow that rips into its spine; the ugly thing can hardly let out a gasp as its corpse lands at the fighter's feet. Undeterred by his companion's quick death the second goblin moves to engage Colten, takes a quick swipe with his blade (which Colten easily knocks to the side), and quickly darts back out of harm's way.

Determined to hit their target this time around both of the archers pop their heads up above the thickets and take aim at the cart. The driver, still stunned, yells "shiiii" but doesn't get a chance to finish as two arrows hit him square in the chest. Letting out quick victorious yelps both goblins duck back into the thickets attempting to hide, but one of them is still clearly visible.

Goblin #1 is KIA by KAI.
Goblin #2 is about 10' from Colten.
Goblin #3 is hidden.
Goblin #4 thinks its hidden, but can clearly be seen off in the thickets about 20' off of the road.

Everyone else can have their go.

"COME BACK HERE YOU LITTLE PIECE OF FILTH!" Colten shouts as he chases after the goblin that attacked him, surprised that he didn't catch the miserable little creature as it ran. With a lunge and a thrust, the nobleman's blade darts forward murderously.

"Oh enemies, Humm goblins aren't nice." from peaking over the wagon I spin around in an Indian sitting position and point my finger and launch off firebolt at the goblin in the bush.

"Me no filth" the goblin blurts in broken common just before Colten's blade pierces it abdomen. Clutching its gut it falls backwards onto the ground and doesn't make a move.

Delg's bolt of fire misses far enough to the archer's left that it doesn't believe it's even been spotted.

Luka lets out a gasp as the driver is hit. Oh my gosh! She then turns to the goblin bushes, and casts Sacred Flame.

Seeing Luka look its way the goblin archer dives off to the left, hoping to avoid whatever the cleric might have in store for it. A loud yelp, followed by a string of goblin curses, is evidence enough that Luka's spell found its target.

Kai runs to the driver. Ooc if possible Kai being the person that he is would try to stabilize the driver I will use a charge of the herb kit

The goblin archer, still stinging from Luka's attack watches Gareth's approach with mouth agape. Without even attempting to flee the little creature raises his bow in an attempt to block Gareth's blade but it does little good. The goblin's dead where he stood.

Kai's attempt at stabilizing the cart driver fails, both of the arrows hitting vital spots on the poor man.

The last goblin, having seen quite enough, is heard retreating through the thickets north of the road.

Three dead gobos, two dead horses, one dead red-shirt, uh, ox driver. This is always an interesting encounter, I've played some games that have come close to TPKs because of the damned archers' ability to shoot and scoot...

Investigate? move on? give chase? What do the characters do now?

Anyone with a passive wisdom [perception] of 13 or higher can see the retreating guy heading north at double time, he's a good 90' away at this point.
